Abstract

The research was conducted to determine the effect of the application of CTL learning model based on lesson study with mind mapping media to the learning outcomes of students on colloid systems. The population of this research was all students of grade XI of SMA N 1 Sunggal. The sample was taken using on the purposive random sampling. The Experiment class was taught with Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model based on Lesson Study with Mind Mapping media and the control class taught with conventional learning model. The data was collected using an objective test was consisting of 20 questions which validity, reliability, level of difficulty and power of difference had been tested. T test results showed that tcalculate = 2.1 and ttable = 1.6697 thus tcalculate> ttable which means that Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected. The enhancement of the student learning outcomes showed that the results of experiment class are g = 72.88%, while the control class is 68.97%. From the percentage, it can be seen that learning outcomes of the experiment class are greater than the control class. The analysis of developing cognitive aspects pointed out that C1 = 70.02%, C2 = 73.58%, C3 = 68.63%, Thus the domain of cognitive level are on the cognitive aspects of C2. The result of Lesson Study Analysis showed the results of 71.09% at the first lesson and 88.28% at the second lesson. It means that there is increasing adherence to the indicators after two lessons. Based on the above results, it can be concluded that the result of studying chemistry of the students of class XI of SMA Negeri I Sunggal TA 2014/2015 taught by a CTL model based  on Lesson Study with Mind Mapping media was higher (72.88%) than those taught by conventional learning models (68.97%) in the subject matter of colloids System.

Abstract

Abstract. This study aims to determine the increase in students learning outcomes that learned using problem based learning models using media exe learning on hydrocarbon material and correlation between the contribution of teamwork activies to improve student learning outcomes. The population all students of class X SMA Negeri 11 Medan with 8 classes. The sample taken two classes namely one class as the experimental class I who got teaching model of problem based learning using media exe learning and the  experimental class II who got teaching model of problem-based learning without media exe learning. In this study used test instrument and non-test instrumen. The test instrument that used 16 valid questions with the realibility of 0.85. The non-test instrument is used in the form of attitudes observasion sheet with indicator includes participation in learning, involvement and help peers. Based on the hypothesis test with significance level of 0.05 was tcount(4,285) > ttable(1,668). This mean Ha accepted and Ho rejected which showed an increase in student learning outcomes in the eksperimental class I higer than the eksperimental class II. Then the correlation test results indicating a positive correlation between the students teamwork activities with improving student learning outcomes that rcount(0,681) > rtable(0,320) with a coefficient of contribution 46.37%. Abstract

This study aims to identify students' initial abilities in biopolymer materials as a basis for developing learning designs. This study uses a content analysis method, with participants being fourth-semester students in one of the Chemistry Education study programs, at a state university in West Java. The instrument used in this study was a descriptive test consisting of 13 questions. The results of the Initial ability data analysis showed that overall, it was identified that 41% of students had an Initial ability understanding with a sufficient category, 33% of students had a poor category, 23% of students had a good category and 3% of students had an initial ability understanding with an outstanding category. Based on these findings, several interventions are suitable as references in developing didactic designs, such as displaying learning videos related to the manufacture of simple bioplastics, graphs of development and annual production costs of bioplastics, images of bioplastic applications in various fields, and infographics related to the decomposition process and the benefits of sustainability of bioplastics.

Abstract

This study aims to determine student satisfaction with the digital system of room usage at the Chemistry Department, State University of Medan. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. The results of the study conducted on 25 students showed that in the aspect of recording room usage, there was an increase in satisfaction of 7.7%, in the aspect of room usage recapitulation, there was an increase in satisfaction to very good with a percentage of 53.8%, in the aspect of viewing room availability, there was an increase in satisfaction to very good with a percentage of 46.2%, in the aspect of viewing lecturers' schedules, there was an increase in satisfaction to very good with a percentage of 53.8%. Based on the results of the study, it shows that the response to satisfaction with the digital system shows an increase in satisfaction to improve the quality of room usage at the Chemistry Department, State University of Medan.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the feasibility of the wood workshop area in the Wood Stone and Plumbing Workshop, Faculty of Engineering, State University of Medan, based on the required standards. This is done to provide comfort for users of the Wood Stone and Plumbing Workshop, Faculty of Engineering, State University of Medan. This study is a type of research with a descriptive, evaluative method. The subjects in this study were the Wood Stone and Plumbing Workshop, the Faculty of Engineering, the State University of Medan, and the Wood Workshop. In contrast, the object of the study was the area of the Wood Workshop workspace, Faculty of Engineering. Data collection methods were by interview, observation, and documentation. The data analysis technique was carried out using a quantitative method, namely comparing the research data at the Wood Stone and Plumbing Workshop, Faculty of Engineering, State University of Medan, with existing standards and supported by the results of field observations. The results of this study are that the area of the Wood, Stone and PlumbingWorkshop workspace at the Faculty of Engineering, State University of Medan meets the space standards, namely 128 m2, which is smaller than the standard size of 256 m2, and the area of the instructor's room at the Wood, Stone and Plumbing Workshop, Faculty of Engineering, State University of Medan does not meet the space standards, 40 m2, which is smaller than the standard size of 48 m2.

Abstract

Banyak mahasiswa mengalami kesulitan dalam menyelesaikan soal-soal perhitungan larutan penyangga. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menjelaskan Pengaruh Pemahaman Konsep Asam dan Basa terhadap Kemampuan Penyelesaian Soal di Kalangan Mahasiswa Jurusan Kimia Universitas Negeri Medan. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif dengan rancangan eksperimen pretest-posttest control group design. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah sebagian Mahasiswa/i jurusan Kimia di Universitas Negeri Medan. Desain yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Pre-Experiment Design dengan model desain One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design. Hasil penelitian ini membuktikan ada pengaruh Pemahaman Konsep Asam dan Basa terhadap Kemampuan Penyelesaian Soal di Kalangan Mahasiswa Jurusan Kimia Universitas Negeri Medan.

Abstract

Kurangnya fasilitas laboratorium yang memadai dan panduan praktikum berkualitas rendah di banyak sekolah menengah atas menghambat pembelajaran praktikum kimia yang efektif. Untuk mengatasi hal ini, penelitian ini mengembangkan dan mengevaluasi panduan praktikum kimia berbasis penyelidikan terbimbing yang terintegrasi dengan prinsip-prinsip kimia hijau, menggunakan model ADDIE (berfokus pada tahap pengembangan). Validasi dilakukan oleh enam guru kimia dan dua dosen, menilai aspek-aspek seperti konten, bahasa, penyajian, dan desain. Metode kuantitatif deskriptif dalam kerangka RD digunakan untuk analisis. Panduan tersebut menerima skor rata-rata keseluruhan sebesar 4,78 dari 5, yang menunjukkan bahwa panduan tersebut "sangat layak." Secara khusus, skor untuk konten, bahasa, penyajian, dan desain masing-masing adalah 4,78, 4,82, 4,78, dan 4,75. Hasil-hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa panduan tersebut sesuai untuk meningkatkan pembelajaran kimia praktis dan menumbuhkan kesadaran lingkungan melalui kimia hijau di sekolah menengah atas.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merancang lembar kerja mahasiswa (LKM) berbasis Pendidikan Pembangunan Berkelanjutan (ESD) pada bahan biopolimer. Lembar kerja ini diharapkan dapat digunakan dalam penelitian lebih lanjut dan membantu mahasiswa memahami pentingnya pembangunan berkelanjutan melalui topik biopolimer sebagai solusi permasalahan lingkungan. Metode yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui Focus Group Discussion (FGD). FGD dilakukan pada tahap pra-penelitian untuk mendapatkan masukan awal dan menyiapkan desain LKM yang sesuai. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa lembar kerja yang dikembangkan dinilai layak setelah mengalami revisi berdasarkan masukan dari para ahli di bidang material, desain, dan pedagogi. Oleh karena itu, produk akhir dinyatakan valid dan direkomendasikan untuk diuji dalam pembelajaran biopolimer di tingkat universitas.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the level of understanding of PSPK 23 B students at Medan State University on atomic theory questions. With a quantitative descriptive approach, data were collected through multiple-choice tests filled out by 30 students. The results showed an average understanding of 75.33%, which is quite good. However, there was significant variation where some students mastered basic concepts (eg Dalton and Thomson's atomic models), while others had difficulty with abstract topics (eg Bohr's model and quantum mechanics). This finding is in line with previous studies on misconceptions in atomic structure. This study emphasizes the importance of innovative learning strategies, such as visual media and conceptual approaches, to improve student understanding. Periodic evaluation is needed to detect learning gaps and adjust teaching methods. The results of this study can be a basis for developing more effective chemistry education practices.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the perspectives of mathematics students in general chemistry classes. on the use of butterfly pea flowers (Clitoria ternatea) and vinegar as basic ingredients for making environmentally friendly natural ink. This innovation is expected to be an alternative to the use of chemical inks and to encourage environmental awareness among students. This study uses a descriptive analysis method with data collection through questionnaires distributed to students. The results of the analysis show that most students gave a positive response to the use of butterfly pea flowers and vinegar as natural ink, especially in terms of loss, material safety, and potential application in the campus environment. These findings indicate an opportunity to develop environmentally friendly products based on local wisdom in the world of education.
