Abstract

The study aims to determine the effect of process skills approach in learning reading explanation text in grade 11 of MA Darul Hikmah Pekanbaru. The method used was a quantitative research method with an experimental research model. The design of this research was one group pret est-postest design. Sampling techniques used was simple random sampling. The population in this study was 78 students with 65 students were chosen as the samples. Data collection technique used multiple choice with 20 questions. This test was used to assess student’s reading skills. Data analysis techniques used the lilifors normality test and chi-square test, then tested the hypothesis using the one-sample test, one-way ANOVA, and two-way ANOVA. The average pretest scores in the control class were 7.65, while the average pretest scores in the experimental class were 6.25. The average postest scores in the control class were 8.9, while the average postest scores in the experimental class were 6.8. The findings showed that there was significant effect of the application of the process skills approach toward learning reading explanation texts in grade 11 students of MA Darul Hikmah Pekanbaru.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of Jigsaw Cooperative learning on student learning outcomes in social studies learning in grade 5 of elementary school. This research was motivated by the fact that teachers tended to apply conventional learning models, learning was often dominated by teachers, so the learning process was less attractive to students, and student learning outcomes in social studies learning still tended to be low. This research was a quantitative research with quasy experimental research design. The sampling was taken by using purposive sample technique. The research sample consisted of 50 people with a population of 50 people. The treatment that researchers gave to the experimental class aimed to determine the effect that occurred on learning outcomes using the Jigsaw Cooperative Learning Method. The instrument used in collecting data in the form of objective tests with multiple choice forms. Based on the research that has been done, the obtained t-count> t-table was 4.5378> 2.011 with α = 0.05 which meant that H0 was rejected. The average student learning outcomes measured by posttest after learning, namely in the 86.88 experimental class and 75.63 control class. So Ha accepted that there was an influence of the use of Jigsaw Cooperative learning model on student learning outcomes in social studies learning in grade 5 of elementary school.

Abstract

This research aims at developing folklore story book of " Ikan Sakti Sungai Janiah" and finding out its feasibility. The story book was designed by using coreldraw7. Model 4D was used as the research method by using four stages; those are define, design, develop and dessiminate, but it was only limited until the third stage. The data of this research was taken from a valid design-expert-instrument, a valid language-expert-instrument and students’ responses. The data was a quantitative data which was measured by using guideline citeria for assessment categories in determining the quality of the product. The research findings based on a design expert on draft 1 with average percentage of 81.4% with feasible category considered improved on draft 2 to 96% with highly feasible category. Furthermore, based on a language expert on draft 1 with the average percentage 68.75% with feasible category, it was considered improved on draft 2 to 95% with highly feasible category. For students’ responses, the average percentage was 94.5% with highly feasible category. Based on the result of the research, it can be concluded that the product developed by the researcher was considered very proper to use as a learning source of literature at primary school.
