Abstract

Maching using coolant causing environmental problems. Improper coolant waste handling can damage surrounding environment. In Minimum Quantity Lubrication (MQL) there are lubrication that can reduce friction force between tool and working material thereby can reduce the rate of temperature rise, and can impove tool lifeThe purpose of this research is to analyse the use of vegetable oil lubricant as alternative MQL lubricant on cutting distance and flank wear of the work material.This research using vegetable oils consisted of palm oil, coconut oil, soybean oi, and maize (corn) oil. Those vegetable oils were tested their physical properties to be compared with ester oil especially the kinematic viscosity and flash point properties. Turning process were done until flank wear reach 0.3 mm.Soy beam are choose as the best vegetable oil used as MQL. Compared with dry, MQL soy beam produce longer cutting distance. Compared with wet and MQL ester oil, soy beam oil produce shorter life tool.

Abstract

Comparison between ReST API and SOAP web services in providing data services that are carried out to support the improvement of these web services. The data tested is divided into 2, namely data with the same size format and data with different size formats. The test is divided into 3 stages, the first collecting with 10 data, the second 20 data, and the third 30 data, by carrying out data loading from each comparing web service. From the overall results obtained from the ReST API runs faster than SOAP. With an overall total data collection time on different devices with the same size format in the ReST API it produces 3.4 seconds and SOAP produces 3.9 seconds. While receiving data on different devices with different size formats on the ReST API, it takes 4.7 seconds and SOAP takes 5.3 seconds.

Abstract

Wedang Uwuh Instan Sruput is one of the business unit of Industrial Engineering Program,Faculty of Engineering,Universitas Sarjanawiyata Tamansiswa Yogyakarta.Wedang Uwuh Sruput is an innovative manufacture of wedang uwuh into instant from the original form of whole and raw spices.The resulting product results sometimes have different quality/taste in each production process.The purpose of this research is to improve product quality of Wedang Uwuh Instan Sruput,improve the composition of herb wedang uwuh product,improve the concept of packaging and improve the marketing of the wedang uwuh products.The object of this research is Wedang Uwuh Sruput Prodi Teknik Industri UST.The materials used are instant wedang uwuh maker such as ginger,clove leaf,cinnamon leaf, secang wood,cloves,lemongrass,sugar and water.Identification is done on factors that affect product quality in order to create the same product in the market.The experiment was conducted by performing several times of Wedang Uwuh Sruput production with several variations of composition/formula using Taguchi method to maintain product consistency and quality.In this experiment there are 4 factors(sugar,ginger,water and secang)with 3 level design,that is 2,8 kg;2.9 kg and 3.0 kg for sugar,1.0 kg;1.2 kg and 1.4 kg for ginger,water is 5.0 L;5.2 L and 5.4 L,while the secang is 200 gr,210 gr,220 gr.The difference of the output of Wedang Uwuh Sruput is caused by the difference of sugar content,the difference of ginger content,the difference of the amount of water and the difference of the number of secang used,the use of different raw material specification,the length of production process is not same and the production process is still manual.The result shows that Waste which has the highest weight is waiting with the value of 0.252 at rank 31.Then the calculation of sigma value at early check is at the level of 3,001 sigma and final check at 2,455 sigma level.From the calculation of sigma level can be seen that the level of quality in Business Unit Wedang Uwuh "Sruput" is still far from lean six sigma target.Therefore,the advice given to the Business Unit Wedang Uwuh "Sruput" in the form of corrective actions that have been analyzed in this study.It was found that the most appropriate composition based on consumer preferences was Sugar 2.9 kg;Ginger 1.4;Water 5 L; and Wood Secang 200 gr. Keywords: Lean Six Sigma, Taguchi, Packaging, Marketing, Wedang Uwuh Instan Sruput

Abstract

The groved surfaces are widely researched to reduce pressure drop and control a flow on the surface. In applicative fluids flow is turbulen. So, the grove addition capable of affecting the boundary layer condition near the wall pipes. This will greatly determine the pressure drop and the flow patterns that occur during the fluids flow. The purpose of this researched is to analyse the impact of the number of grooves in pipes against the pressure drop and the occurred flow patterns. In this researched, we used 3 pipes, which total of grooves were 4,8,16 and the pipes without grooves that used as comparator. The observed flow was two phases flow ( air-water). The researched pipes used acrylic pipes with diameter of 1 inch and length of 100 cm with the groove used was type of scalloped groove. Pressure drop occurs in all of the grooves ; 4,8, and 16. The highest pressure drop decrease occurred in groove 16. When there was drop in pressure drop in every single of groove, in low air discharge, bubbly that firmed was more tightly without making slug flow. When the debit was getting bigger, the bubbly was reduced and followed by the emergence of slug flow. The changes in water debit in the decrising of pressure drop in every single of drop, shows the dencity between the bubbly and slug flow that firmed

Abstract

This study is a preliminary survey of a main study on anthropometry of ear. This study was done since the availability of ear anthropometry for Indonesian population was very limited. On the other, the availability of the ear anthropometry is very important. The current study aims to collect anthropometric data that are possible to consider in designing ear-related products. Thirty subjects aged in the range of 18-20 years old were involved in the measurement. Three dimensions of the outer ear, namely: ear hole length, ear connection length, and pinna length were measured. Result of this study shows an initial description of the outer ear dimensions that is useful in designing ear-related products, especially for Indonesian young adults.

Abstract

In this era, Internet for education is one of the basic need; for students, teachers, lecturers, and staff. The increasing of internet needs cause the increasing of data traffic than before. In this research, traffic volumes of the Internet is analyzed using the ADPH (Average Daily Peak Hour) technique. ADPH is one of teletraffic techniques to calculate traffic volumes based on its busy hours. Previously, this technique is used in telephony systems. In this research, ADPH is tried to be used for calculating data traffic volumes.

Abstract

A message/complaint service is a very strategic facility for all stakeholders of an industrial organization. The ergonomic message/ complaint service in the aviation industry is an ergonomics approach based on a standard service system provided by an airline which iseasily accessed/ used and the given response is according to the airline passenger expectations. This research was started by observing the message service/ complaint facilities in the aviation industry (airline) and then the function was analyzed and the improvement to service system facilities was proposed so that it was convenient for the users. The results of the study concluded that there were already message / complaint service facilities in the aviation industry (Airline) but they are not ergonomic and optimal to improve the flight safety, so it is necessary to integrate the message / complaint service system with the safety services to empower the State Safety Program (SSP) according to recommendations of ICAO annex 13, Aircraft accidents and Incident investigations, to improve the flight safety performance.

Abstract

In general, PLCs has digital inputs and outputs system. The PLC additional system for analog input on the PLC is limited to sensor output in the form of a voltage of 1-5V (or 4mA to 20mA current). The development of I2C-based sensor technology is not suitable for PLCs. In this research, an I2C-based sensors system was designed and made that can be connected to the PLC. Data from the I2C sensor is sent to the DM memory in the PLC via RS232 serial communication. The sensor used was an LDR as a light sensor and a BMP180 sensor to measure atmospheric pressure and room temperature. From the experiment, the results of the LDR sensor were 100% successful and the data transmission from the BMP180 sensor was well recognized in the PLC

Abstract

Student departure monitoring is an Android-based app used to monitor student departure to school. This system runs on parent smartphones so parents can see the existence of students and the app will give a message if the student out of the route path that has been set. Arduino used is arduino uno nano type. Arduino programmed using C language, to monitor the existence of students also required some components such as GSM Module and GPS Module. In testing the user application can monitor the existence of the students through the mobile phone that has been installed the application, before monitoring the departure of parents students are required to enter data coordinates home, coordinate data route and data coordinates of schools entered manually. To get the coordinate data the parent can take it through google Maps. To avoid failure in the use of remote control applications should use Android smartphone version 4.1 Jelly bean to version 6.0 Marshmallow. In the experiments this application can run smoothly with the Android version 4.1 to Android version 6.0 and the results of the questionnaire given to the 30 respondents with 9 questions 75.77% results obtained using Likert-scale calculations, which results obtained a good assessment interval.

Abstract

Merencanakan sebuah ruangan  umumnya disajikan dalam bentuk denah dan tampak dinding setiap ruangan. Namun pada umumya pengguna mengalami kesulitan membayangkan visual ruangan secara tiga dimensi. Untuk mengatasi hal ini, dibuatlah sebuah aplikasi yang dapat memberi visualisasi 360° terhadap suatu ruangan sehingga pengguna dapat melihat isi ruangan, serta  menandai bagian penting ruang seperti arah, sudut dan pintu yang ada dalam ruangan,  visualisasii ruangan dilakukan dengan proses 360° Panorama Stitching. Hasil pengujian, telah didapatkan contoh panorama dari ruangan dalam rumah yang sudah berbentuk 360° dan denah yang dihasilkan berdasarkan data arah, sudut, dan pintu pada tiap ruangan. Visualisasi  yang dihasilkan dapat membuat pengguna menyadari susunan suatu ruangan sehingga memberikan visualisasi ruangan.
