Abstract

Introduction: Survivor breast cancer who underwent supportive care have many unmet needs, they are also many reported having a poor quality of life. This study aims to assess and describe the level of fulfillment of supportive care breast cancer survivors. Method: This study used quantitative method with descriptive analytic approach. The number  of sample were  40 people came from the chemotherapy room and  and surgical treatment room of Ibnu Sina Hospital of Makassar, in the period of July 2016. The data were collected through  questionnaire of  Supportive Care Needs Survey Short Form 34 (SCNS-SF34) to assess the level of supportive care  survivors of breast cancer patients. Result: The results indicate that from  5 domains which need of  supportive care,there are  three domainsnot meeting the needs, namelypsychological,  information systems and health, and the third is support and care needs. While the fulfilled needs are physical, daily activities and sexual need. There are 80% of breast cancer survivors undergoing bad life quality and only 20%  undergo  good quality of life. Conclucion: The fulfilment level of supportive care survivors of   breast cancer needs generally are not met, the highest needfound is psychological need domain.

Abstract

Introduction: Health literacy is one of health determinants  public health development goals. The aim of this research is to determine the effect of precede-proceed education model on health literacy of patients suffer from hypertension in the working area of Pattingalloang Health Centre Makassar. Method: The research employed quasy-experimental method using nonequivalent control design. The research sample was 40 people. The sample was determined using purposive sampling. Data were obtained using questionnaire and interview then it is analyzed by Mann-Whitney and Spearman statistical test. Results: The results showed that: (1) There was differences in the functional health literacy between  hypertension patient group provided with an education and group without education intervention; (2) There was no significant difference in communicative and critical health literacy between group with education intervention and group without education intervention. However, proportion of health literacy of patient with education intervention was better; (3) there was a relation between respondent characteristics, health service access, health information access, and social support that the patient obtained and health literacy. Conclusion: The availability of education to hypertension patients by modifying the precede-proceed model were giving influence to health literacy. This study suggest that involvement of health workers expecially for nurses, in an effort to improve health literacy of patients with counseling, home visite for patients and their families

Abstract

Background: School Health Unit is an effort to build healthy habits in order to improve students health through three main programs, namely health education, health services, and healthy environment development. Development of school resilience was conducted through a healthy school environment. Due to improving the health of school communities, an healthy school environment should be created. Purpose: To identify the indicators of healthy school environment development of school health unit program: at Public Primary Schools in Bontobahari Bulukumba district. Methods: The descriptive survey with cross sectional study design. The population of 27 schools with random cluster sampling technique. The obtained samples were 13 schools. Results: The results showed that there were 10 schools (76.9%) with good category and three schools (23.1%) with adequate category. All the schools meet the indicator of the room and buldings, lighting, garbage, noise, and sewerage. Most of the schools meet the indicator of the board distance, classroom density, clean water, cafeteria/eatery, and school grounds. Only a limited number of schools meet the indicator of the ventilation, hand-washing facility, and behavior. All the schools eligible indicators of the learners table and WC/Toilet. Conclusion: The development of healthy school environment at Public Primary Schools on sub-district of Bontobahari in Bulukumba district were in good category. It is hoped that the next researcher would examine other indicators overview of school health unit program, namely health education and health service.

Abstract

Introduction: Impaired social ability is the main problem faced by children with autism according to Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM-IV), which may have an impact on the cognitive, affective, and behavioural abilities if left untreated. Aim: This study aims to analyse social skills aspects of children with autism who undergo therapy in special needs children therapy center in Makassar. Method: The descriptive analytic method with cross sectional design was applied in this study. The instrument used was the TRIAD Social Skills Assessment (TSSA)-Assessing Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder questionnaire. The questionnaires were given to 42 respondents who is the mother of children with autism spectrum disorder symptom and is undergoing therapy in special needs children therapy center in Makassar. Result: The results of this study found that children have affective understanding ability in medium category (59.5%), initiating interactions ability are in medium category (59.5%), responding to the beginning of the interaction are in the medium category (66.7%), and ability to maintain interaction aspect are in medium category (57.1%). Conclusions: Mother with autism children who undergo therapy in special needs children therapy center in Makassar mostly have medium social skills. Therefore, it is expected that parents and therapists can provide support in improving the existing therapy program to deal with social skills of children with autistic disorder.

Abstract

Background: Aging is a condition or individual circumstances which unavoidable. One of the attempts to achieve optimal health status is by improving the nutritional need of the society, especially the elderly.The increasing of elderly number will cause various complex problems for elderly families and society.The purpose of this research is to figure out the overview of screening and assessment of nutritional status in elderly at Pampang village in Makassar. Methods: Quantitative research with descriptive research design is used as a method of this research. Samples were obtained by using consecutive sampling with a total sample 152 eligible respondents. Results:The screening results of the first phase showed 38.2% of the elderly have a normal nutritional status, 50% of the elderly are at risk of malnutrition, and 11.8% of the elderly have a malnourished nutritional status.The results of the phase II assessment which were obtained from  94 respondents from the first phase (malnutrition respondent and respondent having risk of malnutrition) showed 7.4% of them have a normal nutritional status, 78.7% are at risk of malnutrition, and 13.8%  have a malnourished nutritional status. Conclusion: Based on the results of phase II, it is showed that more than two third of respondents (78.7%) are at risk of malnutrition. The assessment of nutritional status should be conducted every 3 months in the elderly in order to prevent the risk of malnutrition and the malnutrition it self.

Abstract

Introduction: Based on the routine surveillance of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) hospital based in South Sulawesi diabetes mellitus highest cause of death in the amount of 41.56%. Diabetes mellitus is a heterogeneous group of disorders characterized by an increase in blood glucose levels, or hyperglycemia. Method: This research is quasi experimental. Research design used in this research is non equivalent control group. The sampel size of this research twenty person, sampel devided into two groups with the one experimental grour and one control group, each group considerate of ten sampel. Result: Paired T test on blood circulation foot pre and post test in the intervention group. The result is the intervention group was obtained p-value of 0.001 or p <0.05, which means that there is significant influence before and after the exercise intervention feet. Conclusions: This study shows that a very effective leg exercises to improve blood circulation foot, strengthens leg muscles and ease of movement of joints. It is expected that the public, especially people with diabetes mellitus should do leg exercises independently and regularly, live a healthy lifestyle in order to prevent complications of diabetes mellitus is diabetic ulcers

Abstract

Introduction: Maternal mortality rate in Indonesia is still high, and one of the contributing factor is lack of self care management. Health literacy is one of important factor that can improve self care management of pregnant women at level I health service. This study aimed to analyze the correlation between health literacy and self-care management of pregnant women at level I health service. Method: This study used descriptive analytic with  cross sectional study design. There were 40 respondents participated in this study, selected by using purposive sampling technique. Results: There is no correlation between functional health literacy and self-care management p (0.739); however, there is a correlation between communicative and critical health literacy and self-care management p = 0.002. Conclusion: The result show that when providing health service for maternal group, the health professional need to assess their health literacy level and pay attention to communication and critical ability of the group. Understanding the ability of the target group will improve the educational programs.

Abstract

Introduction: Post-term pregnancy is a prolonged pregnancy period till 42 weeks or more that can be caused by varied factors such as hormonal and genetic. Although the incident rate is considerably small, it can bring negative impacts to mother and her baby. Thus, it is important to manage the post-term pregnancy by applying effective approaches such as Need for help Nursing Theory to ensure rapid and precise assessment, observation and immediate intervention carried out during delivery process. In addition, The Theory of Unpleasant symptoms can also be applied to minimize unpleasant symptoms either physically or psychologically and situational discomfort during the labor. Method: The five study cases revealed that the mothers experienced unpleasant symptoms that affected each other and required immediate treatment. Result: After termination with labor induction were conducted, different results were found among the cases. Case two to five after be indiuced, they gave birth trough vaginal birth, while   case one ended with caesarean section because`of fetal distress. Conclusion: Mothers who experienced postterm pregnancy had different respond. Nurse role especially maternity nursing specialist is imperative during the gravidity termination period in performing nursing care to overcome problems experienced by mother with post-term pregnancy.

Abstract

Background: Chronic Complication of DM patient that the most founded is neuropatic diabetic. It related to chronic hyperglicemic that can damage vascular and the neuron. In 2010, Prevalence odf chronic complication on DM patient around 22,7% until 54,0%. One of tthe non farmacological therapy is Range of Motion of limb joint movement exercise.. This research aims to know the effect of limb joint exercise actively on sensoric neuropaty DM type 2 with no ulcus. Method: Desain quasy-experimental pre-post test design with purposive sampling technic. Consist of 20 group of intervention and 20 group of control. The Intervention group have to make a ROM exercise and the Control group not make that. All of the group must be observed three times in a week for one month with the using of 10 g monofilamen for protection sensation and Diabetic Neuropathy Symptom (DNS) question for the polineuropaty perifer (PNP) complaint. Wilcoxon Statistik test for dependen test and  Mann-Withney test for the independent tes with significancy (ɑ=0,05). Results: the research result show that there is a difference on mean value of protection sensation intervention group between pre with post test on lright food and left food p=0,0001 and PNP ( p=0,005) make a difference on mean value with post test between two group (p=0,001), but not for the mean value of protection sensation. Conclusion: The conclusion from this reseearch is the ROM exercise actively influenced on PNP form the DM patient type 2 with no ulcus. The ROM exercise should be make on 3-5 times on a week for 8 until 12 weeks and doing it comprehensively so that can make the significant influenced.
