Abstract

Leather boots have long been a top choice in the world of fashion and functionality, offering durability and classic style. The latest innovation brings the transformation of traditional leather boots into ergonomic leather boots, designed to improve comfort and support the normal functional movement anatomy of the foot. This shoe combines premium leather materials with ergonomic technology, such as a soft sole, adjustable arch support, and flexible design to support the natural movement of the foot, so that boot users avoid the risk of minor injury due to the use of boots with leather materials. With a focus on foot health and long-term wearing comfort, these ergonomic leather boots not only maintain the classic aesthetic but also present additional benefits to the user's daily life, whether for light activities or heavy work. This transformation paved the way for products that integrate style with function health, making it an ideal choice for modern consumers who prioritize comfort without sacrificing appearance. The results of the study show that users of leather boots often experience minor injuries such as blistered feet, impaired blood circulation, and difficulty moving the legs freely according to their normal function. The factors that affect this are because the shoe does not have poor air circulation, the material is less flexible, and the arrangement of components that do not pay attention to the ergonomics of the foot. Users love boots that can be worn both for outdoor and daily needs.

Abstract

The fast pace of urbanisation in big cities, especially in Indonesia, demands an efficient and practical gardening solution for people with limited space. This research aims to develop an indoor hydroponic installation product design that can be used by beginners, taking into account the factors of ease of use, functionality, and pleasant user experience. The developed prototype integrates music technology as an additional element that serves to create an atmosphere of relaxation, which also supports plant health and improves the user's mental well-being. Using a user-friendly design approach and based on minimalist and industrial design trends, the product was designed to fit into limited spaces such as studio apartments. Product testing was conducted with experienced hydroponic practitioners and potential novice users to test the ease of installation, functionality, and effectiveness of the features. The test results showed that the product provides ease of use and maintenance, as well as providing an enjoyable gardening experience. Thus, this product not only provides a practical solution in hydroponic gardening, but also improves the quality of life of its users through its functional design and relaxing musical elements..

Abstract

Netraspoon is an innovative eating utensil designed for blind children aged 6–15 years, aimed at enhancing independence and safety. The spoon is equipped with a temperature sensor and vibration indicator that alerts the user when the food reaches 50 degrees Celsius. The study employed a design thinking approach involving 20 blind children and educators from special needs schools and blind foundations in Jakarta and Yogyakarta as participants. The development process went through the stages of empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and test. Trial results showed that Netraspoon is easy to use, comfortable to hold, and helps blind children recognize hot food temperatures, thereby reducing the risk of mouth injury. Its ergonomic design with a 90-degree angle and food-grade materials supports product safety and comfort. This innovation provides an effective solution to support the independence of blind children in Indonesia.

Abstract

Conventional plastic-based cosmetic packaging constitutes a substantial contributor to environmental pollution. This investigation examines the application of gonggong shell (Strombus turturella) biocomposite as an alternative material for primary lipstick packaging systems. Five material formulations employing varied binding agents (water, chitosan, epoxy, and eco-resin) were systematically evaluated. An optimal eco-resin:shell ratio of 5:8 was determined, exhibiting superior mechanical properties and aesthetic characteristics. Material processing parameters included thermal treatment at 250°C, particle size refinement to 80 mesh (0.177 mm), and precision molding procedures. Packaging dimensions (85-95 mm × 12-14 mm) were determined through anthropometric analysis (50th-95th percentile) and incorporated a push-click-twist actuation mechanism. Bio-PLA material was integrated to augment structural integrity and aesthetic functionality. Three design alternatives were assessed utilizing parameters encompassing form effectiveness, innovation potential, ergonomic performance, and manufacturing feasibility. The final prototype demonstrates successful integration of sustainable material systems with functional performance requirements. This design framework advances environmentally responsible sustainable design principles. The research establishes the viability of shell biocomposite as a viable substitute for conventional petroleum-based plastics, contributing to sustainable transformation in the cosmetics industry.
