Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate financial analysis of fingerling production of tiger grouper (Epinephelus fuscoguttatus) fed commercial pellet and trash fish. The experiment was carried out in floating net cages located in the Gondol Research Institute for Mariculture Bali. A total of 3,000 humpback grouper juveniles with the average body weight of 12 g and 8 cm of total length, were stocked in six 2x2x2 m cages at stocking densities of 500 fishes/cage. The cages were divided in two groups for two treatments in triplicates. The treatments were feeding with commercial pellet and copper raw trash fish. Results showed that  body weight gain, total length, specific growth rate, were not significant different (P>0.05) between fish fed commercial pellet and trash fish. Feed conversion ratios obtained by commercial pellet and trash fish were 1.43 and 4.53, respectively. Survival rates were significant different (P<0.05) between fish fed commercial pellet and trash fish which were 83.33 and 69.86%, respectively. Nursering for production of tiger grouper fingerling fed either commercial pellet or trash fish in floating net cage were economically feasible. Feeding with commercial pellet gave a higher net profit of Rp 4,486,250.- with the RC ratio of 1.47 and rentability of 47.12%, while feeding with trash fish gave a net profit of Rp 3,212,500.- with the RC ratio of 1.37 and rentability of  37.35%.This study aimed to evaluate financial analysis of fingerling production of tiger grouper (Epinephelus fuscoguttatus) fed commercial pellet and trash fish. Abstract

Spirulina platensis is a blue-green algae which rich in protein, vitamins, minerals and other nutrients. One way to protect from photooxidation by making microcapsules spirulina. The objectives this research is to determine the effect of packaging materials and storage temperature on the stability of products (dry and microcapsules) during storage. The research using factorial design (2 x 3 x 2) with variation types of processed spirulina (dried-K, microcapsules-M), packaging (plastic PE non-vacuum-PE, plastic PE vacuum-PEV and aluminum foil-AF) and storage temperature (cold room 50C and 280C). The parameters were observed including water activities, water content, fikosianin, beta carotene, antioxidant activity and yield. The result is that the differences type of processed spirulina, packaging materials and storage temperature affect the parameters of the observations, where the treatment of spirulina in the form of microcapsules which is packed with aluminum foil and stored at cold temperatures give a spirulina product stability is the best treatment.

Abstract

The aim of this research was to find out the effect of waste collection in red tilapia culture using floating net cage to the quantity of the waste and degradation rate, on survival and growth rate of fish. A completely randomized design was performed in the experiment consist of two waste collections; namely: with and without collection, and three fish stocking weights of 2.5 kg, 5 kg and 7.5 kg fish/cage, with two replicates each. Floating net cages with the size of wide, length and height of 1 x 1 x 1.2 m were used in the experiment. To collect fish waste, inverted cone-shape plastic collector was attached to the cage and hanged 15 cm below the cage. Fingerling size ranged from 50 – 70 gram/fish were divided into two groups and stocked in the different replication. The fish were cultured for 84 days and fed daily with commercial feed (25-27% protein content) at the rate of 3% fish body weight. Waste sample were collected and incubated in different temperature of 20, 25 and 30 oC with deviation of 1 oC and 3 replicate each. Parameter of total dissolved solid (TDS), total suspended solid (TSS), DO, BOD, CO2 and NH3 were checked every 5 days for 20 days, and total N and total P were check at the beginning and the end. Data were analyzed statistically using confidence level of 95%. Total waste collected were ranged 0.109-0.117 kg dry weight/cage and waste lossing due to fixing collector 15 cm under the cage was about 14.44%. The addition of waste collection in fish culture tended to make lower survival and growth rate, meanwhile more stocking weight may increase fish harvest. Fish waste decomposed faster in higher temperature, indicate that the waste decomposition could decrease water quality and increase concentration of N and P nutrients.
