Abstract

Performing exercise or physical activities for a long duration under the exposure of air pollution becomes an unhealthy combination and will increase the risks of the individual inhaling more pollutant. Studies that examine an individual performing physical activities regularly in two public sport centers with different levels of air pollution have not been extensively documented, therefore the purpose of this study is to evaluate effects of regular exercise on aerobic capacity, force vital capacity (FVC), and hematological profile among individuals in an environment with similar climatic characteristics but different concentrations of air pollution. This trial composed 15 males (age range from 16 to 18) from Bandung City, Indonesia. Two public sport centers with similar climatic conditions (temperature, and humidity), but different concentrations of air pollutants are selected. Participants performed exercises three times a week for three consecutive weeks at each research site, with a two-week break. Participants’ aerobic capacity, respiratory capacity, and blood sample are measured before and after they exercised at each site. The measured parameters in both sites are compared and analyzed. Aerobic capacity, FVC, and RBC after participants exrcised in the area with lower air pollution show higher value than exercised in the area with higher air pollution. Manwhile WBC is shown to be high after participants exercised in the area with higher air pollution. This happened because air pollution has effect to human physiological characteristics. This research shows that exercising at sport center with high air pollution had negative effect on hematology profile and could affect the development of aerobic and respiratory capacities. The limitations in this study are the unknown intensity when doing regular physical exercise so that in future studies it is recommended to determine whether the intensity will affect the variables in the research subject.

Abstract

The characteristic of badminton game is a sport with high intensity and intermitten actions. It takes the ability of a high level of physical condition, especially the level of VO2max to reach peak performance. There are many kinds of training method to increase VO2max, one of them is continuous circuit training and competitive circuit training. The purpose of this study is to discover the effect of continuous circuit training and competitive circuit training and to determine a more effective method to increase VO2max. This study is pre-experimental study with pre-test and post-test group design. The sample consisted of 60 badminton athletes in range of 9 – 12 years old and all of them were male. The instrument used to measure VO2max level was Multistage Fitness Test (MFT). VO2max data before and after treatement were analyzed with descriptive statistic and t-test on 5% significancy standard. Based on the data analysis, the following results were obtained: (1) There was a significant effect on the level of VO2max in the continuous circuit training group with sig 0.000 values; (2) There was a significant effect on the level of VO2max in the competitive circuit training group with values sig 0.000; and (3) There was no significant difference between the continuous circuit training group and the competitive circuit training group. So it can be concluded that continuous and competitive circuit training can increase the VO2max of young badminton players.

Abstract

An indicator of a success football team in a match is to score more goals than its opponents. Continuous and stable victories can be achieved by applying sports science and technology, one of them in this case is analyzing team performance. The purpose of this study is to describe the pattern of shots taken and goals scored during League 3 of Indonesia Bali Zone in 2021. The research method chosen for this study is descriptive quantitative research. A total of 38 matches are observed to see the number of shots and goals scoring patterns based on time intervals (15 minutes), type of play, number of passes before shot and goal scoring, player action before shooting and goal scoring, playing zone and player position in play. The result of this study indicates that 52.9% of shots occurred in the first half and 51.8% of goals are scored in the second half. Shots (78%) and goals (77%) occurred through the open play process. 61.2% of shots and 64.7% of goal scoring come from the lowest number of passes (0-4 passes). In the central ultra-offensive zone, there are 43.7% shots and 71.2% goal scoring. Based on the playing position, the midfielder recorded the number of shots 34.5% and the striker got 39.6% in scoring goals. The findings of this study can provide information for coaches in seeing the scoring pattern of all teams playing in the Indonesia League 3 Bali Zone. Therefore, it has implications for the way the coach prepares a tactical training program that focuses on how to goal scoring. The limitation of this study is that it has not identified the part of the goal area that produces score. It is important further to examine the part of the goal area where the ball is often conceded or scored by the opponent.

Abstract

Football is one of the sports with the highest risk of injury, with injuries to children around 3% per year with serious injuries occurring at only 0.69% per year. The objective of the study is to investigate the application of FIFA 11+ Kids in minimizing sports injuries in youth football through enhancement components of physical condition, namely, leg muscle power and muscle flexibility. This study is an quasi-experimental research by using a pre-test - post-test control group design. The sample in this study are 20 people, divided into control and treatment groups. In this study, the sample is determined using a purposive sampling technique, with the following inclusion criteria: 1) male, 2) 11-12 years old, 3) practicing football regularly, 3) willing to be a research sample. In contrast, the criteria exclusion is experienced injured and unwilling to be a research sample. The distribution of control and treatment groups using matching subject ABBA technique. Instruments used in this research are the standing broad jump test to measure leg muscle power and sit and reach test to measure muscle flexibility. The data analysis is a t-test regression analysis with a level of 5% significance. This study found that the application of FIFA 11+ Kids can be used as a method to minimize sports injuries in youth football. The limitation of this study is that the sample is limited to only 20 children. This research is important because it contributes to the science of football coaching in terms of preventing injuries to children. Future research is expected to thoroughly examine the components of other physical conditions related to injury prevention, and use a larger sample from various age groups of soccer school students.

Abstract

Consumption of protein in weight training when adjusted to the needs will result in perfect muscle growth and development, especially in increasing maximum strength. In fact, many Fitness Members consume protein without paying attention to the dose, so that increasing maximum strength is not realized properly. This study aims to provide high-protein supplements and high-protein foods in weight training to increase maximum muscle strength. The design used in this study is a three group pre test and post test, consisting of a group consuming high protein supplements, a group consuming a high protein diet and a control group. The population in this study are FIK UNP students, with a total sample of 39 people. The instrument used in this study is a maximum strength test (leg & Hand Dynamo Meter test). The data obtained in this study are analyzed by analysis of variance (ANOVA) with = 0.05. The results showed: (1) There was a difference in effect between the group given high protein supplements, high protein die,t and the control group, (2) The group given high protein supplements had a difference from the average of the other two groups, (3) The group given high protein supplements high-protein supplements had a difference from the average of the other two groups, (4) The high-protein diet group did not have a mean difference with the control group. The limitation in this study is that the researcher was not able to control aspects that were outside the research activities such as other high protein contamination consumed by the research food samples. The next stage, this research will look at the effects of consuming high-protein supplements on a sustainable basis on human health.
