Abstract

This works tries to reveal the concept of the Perfect Man According to Badiuzzaman Said Nursi and how the methods used to achieve it, so it can reach the perfection and happiness of the world and the hereafter. In this study, Bediuzzaman stated that in fact Man was the best of Allah's creation, as this proved the testimony of the facts presented in Islam to mankind especially with humans and objects. Control of all tenderness and kindness to the intended destination is worship to God. So, the heart is tasked with controlling and controlling as well as the leader in which every tenderness and kindness comes from him and the view of reality is with a special way of worship with its gentleness. All of that is to walk like an army on the battlefield, as exemplified by Sahaba Rasulullah, and then increase the most perfect degree, the Prophet Muhammad. To equip man in a noble degree is to fulfil his obligations, namely noble morals, by worshiping Allah and avoiding His prohibitions. And humans if they have reached perfection, it will come to happiness that can be taken by means of faith in Allah SWT. and hereafter.

Abstract

This article departs from the problems of spiritual crisis experienced by modern man today, it caused by the secularization as the core of the modernism, which stated religion as a private and was not a public matter. Syed Hossein Nasr is one of Muslim scholar who struggled to solve this matter, because he had witnessed the negative effect of the modernization. He also develop his idea about Islam Traditionalism based on Tasawuf. His works on Tasawwuf and his views are very relevant and very good for compiling and improving the moral decadence and spiritual emptiness that modern humans need today. Because he has accepted religion and even left him. Through literature studies with qualitative methods, this paper tries to explain about tasawwuf according to Syed Hossein Nasr, expected to provide benefits in an effort to improve morals and help modern humans from spiritual emptiness through Tasawwuf education.

Abstract

There are many fraudulent economic transactions happened in everyday life, the main factor for this situation because the people is far away from the religiosity values. For this reality, Imam al-Ghazali's economic concepts can be one solution to improve it, because the concept he offers is full of the values of religiosity through his Sufism approach. The concept is becoming ‘adl ( fair) and Ihsan in every economic transactions. Among his ideas in these two concepts is the obligation to apply justice in economic transactions, because justice in the business world (al-Tijārah) is like happiness, which is a profit. The prohibition on hoarding goods (al-Ihtikār), the use of counterfeit money in transactions (Tarwīj al-Zayf min al-Darāhim fī Atsna al-Naqd), manipulation of goods prices (Ghabn) and several other ideas. Based on this and also because of the lack of studies of his thoughts in the economic sphere with his Sufism approach, the study of ideas becomes very interesting to study and develop in an effort to correct the deviations of economic transactions among the community.

Abstract

This paper discusses the Feminism lawsuit against Household institutions. Feminism from various schools, liberal feminism, radical feminism, and also socialist or Marxist feminism criticized the household which they considered as a form of discrimination against women from the smallest unit. Islam as a religion that advises its adherents to get married and have family, also does not escape the criticism of feminists. At least, there are two aspectsthat are criticized. First, the traditions of Muslim communities in various parts of the world reflecting discriminatory families. Secondly, the creation of the tradition was because some religious propositions became a source of patriarchy views. Islam itself highly upholds justice between men and women. Nor does it deny the existence of differences between the two butthe difference is not to show the superiority of men over women. As for the arguments that are considered gender bias, this is due to understanding the proposition without scientific tools and comprehensive insight. Because if it is well understood, the seemingly misogynistic argument actually contains elements of justice and glorification of women.

Abstract

Soul therapy is one of the important issues in Islam. It has been greatly drawing the intention of majority Muslim scholars until now. By referring to their valuable works, this article tries to describe and analyze the concept of soul therapy in Islam. Ontologically, Muslim scholars believe that the soul, as one of the Almighty’s creations, should be always maintained, purified and heald when something goes wrong. Epistemologically, they explore the concepts and methods of this therapy from the singns given by the Qur’an and the explanation of the Prophetic traditions, which are all based on the Aqeeda Islamiyah, starting with the reconstruction of the concept and the worldview of oneself especially regarding the reality of himself. This brief study requires further research from the various brilliant works of the Muslim scholars as well as to elaborate comprehensively the concept of the soul and it’s therapy.

Abstract

This paper discusses the prophetic rationality according to Fakhruddin al-Razi. al-Razi seeks to prove the prophetic truth of the mind to oppose the assumption that prophetic is a matter that is not necessarily believed to be true. This assumption due to the prophetic is not considered something that could be resourceful and intangible. It was conceptualized by Muhammad Ahmad ibn al-Ruwandi (late 3rd century H) and Abu Bakar Muhammad ibn Zakariya al-Razi (865-925 A.D.). According to both view the Prophet’s position can be substituted human sense as long as it is true and be able to develop human's knowledge. Thus the Prophet with all his functions as a messenger of God is no longer needed in life. It is certainly contrary to that of Islamic taught. For this reason al-Razi rejected the concept and proved that the prophetic was true in Revelation and reason. In his study, al-Razi used two elements of revelation and philosophy to prove the prophetic concept. It is because revelation is the source of everything and philosophy as a tool of thinking with reason. Systematically, the concept of the prophetic rationality of al-Razi is able to demonstrate that the prophetic is not only the dogma of religion, but it is also an obligatory truth.

Abstract

This paper wants to highlight the distinct problem in understanding monotheism. That is the understanding that came from Abu al-Hasan al-Asy'ari with Ibn Taimiyyah. The emphasis of the discussion is located on whether the difference between the two in understanding tauhid has entered the realm of ushul aqeedah or not? Because of this difference, one of the followers called the other one ‘out’ from ahl sunnah wa al-jama'ah. This problem is increasingly relevant to be discussed because both are often bumped into each other; as if it could not come together otherwise there is no point of equality. On the one side Asy'ari inherits a thick kalam tradition, while on the other hand Ibn Taimiyyah tends to be critical of this tradition. For the second group, the kalam tradition is called too rational and is considered dangerous to interpreting the issue of aqeedah. Therefore, this paper specifically wants to highlight some of the problems above, to a minimize of finding common ground while at the same time providing an alternative view that is often missed a lot of people

Abstract

This article will discuss the characteristics of the Western worldview expressed by Al Attas, which has become the identity of contemporary science. In the formulation of Islamization of Contemporary Knowledge, Al Attas proposed that one of the Islamization stages was rejecting the key concept (worldview) of the West which became the core of contemporary Science. Here, then this article has an interest in discussing the characteristics of the Western worldview. The discussion will be carried out through contain analysis by tracing various works of Al Attas which contain the formulation of Islamization, including “Islam and Secularism.” The research result of the paper is that Al Attas mentions that there are 5 characteristics of the Western worldview, namely: acceptance of rationalism, dualism, humanism, secularism and making the tragedy becoming reality. In the formulation of the Al Attas Islamization process these five characteristics must be identified in every contemporary science and then removed.

Abstract

This paper will analyze the methods and basics of Badi’uzzaman Sa’id Nursi to form human perfection. Human perfection has been discussed in various scientific disciplines in Islam; kalam, philosophy, tasawwuf or shari`at fields. This is because human perfection is closely related to happiness in both the ‘shahahadah’ or ‘unseen’ realms. Sa’id Nursi’s strengths were the object of this study because of his expertise in expressing human meaning based on the the Qur`an. The results of this discussion contain several points. First, there are aspects of the method, Bediuzzaman combines aspects of shari’ah and haqiqat, faith, Islam and Ihsan. Second, to achieve perfection, humans must carry out the four maqamat processes; that is, feeling himself weak (‘ajz), infidelity (faqr), affection (as-syafaqah), and always reflecting (tafakkur) on al-Qu`ran and the book of creation. All of these things are in the frame of cleansing the soul from egoism (ananiyyah) and ‘nafs ammarah’. Third, besides that, humans must also function all the inner senses (lathaif) in accordance with the worship that is ordered. An ideal example is the Prophet Muhammad and his companions. Fourth, humans are creatures that emit asmaul Husna the most in their potential. hence, a perfect human is who can live and feel this potential.

Abstract

Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor is one of the educational institutions inIndonesia that has given a lot of contribution in coloring the national life mosaic. With the concept and purpose of the education which is very supporting in the formation of the ummah, because it is based on Islamic law which refers to the Qur’an and Hadith. It also has a form of life philosophy that guarantees the progress of the nation, named by the five spirit and mottoes of Pondok Modern. One of the most important philosophies in Gontor is freedom and free thinking. Because the freedom and instilled by Gontor aims to make the students select wisely their future life based on Islamic law. However, there are some views that blame this kind of philosophy, it comes from those who have not understood deeply the purpose of Gontor’s education, both outsiders, students, and even graduation. They think that freedom in Gontor caused the student become Liberal, while the essence was no. So, this article wants to examine the essential concept of freedom in the perspective of Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor.
