Abstract

This articles aims with reference to three major periods of Islamic history, spesifically the period of the caliphate, colonial and independence (post-colonial). The author in this article also proves that the triumph and development of science in Islam cannot be separated from the role and contribution played by Muslim scholars from the process of writing, transitioning science, to transliteration and producing a monumental work that is beneficial to humanity. The process of Islamization of knowledge does not stop from one generation but is passed on to the next generation, starting from the revelations conveyed by the Prophet Muhammad to his companions, tab'īn, tābīut tābi'īn and passed on from one scholars to another. Thus, it can be concluded that since the time of the Prophet Muhammad SAW has introduced key concepts that are in accordance with the Islamic worldview which accumulates in the īman, islām and iḥsān.

Abstract

Shaykh Abdul Qadir al-Jilany was a laying figure in the foundation of the Tariqah Qadiriyah - the first systematic order to be formed in a systematic and most widespread area of distribution- writing phenomenal works such as; al-Ghunyah Lithalibi Thoriqi al-Haq ‘Azza wa Jalla, Futuh al-Ghoib, al-Fathu ar-Robbany wa al-Faidh ar-Rohmany and others. His book al-Ghunyah Lithalibi Thoriqi al-Haq ‘Azza wa Jalla consists of five major discussions namely; fiqh, aqeedah, mawa'idz Al-Qur'an, alfadz an-nabawiyah, fadhailil a’mal and Sufism. This paper will explain the thoughts of Shaykh Abdul Qadir al-Jilany in the field of Sufism in the fifth chapter of this book. He discussed about the definition of Sufism, Sufi, Mutashawwif, murid, murod, shaykh, adab murid of his shaykh and others. Finally, this paper will review the establishment of Tariqah Qadiriyah and its theoretical aspects.

Abstract

Since setlement of Jewish aprroved by Balfour Declaration in 1917, the Palestinian problem not only been the concern of the Chalif of Ustmani and the Arabic leader around Baitul-Maqdis. At the time, many leaders and poeple of Moslem in Indonesian country (yet: Hindia Belanda) gave attention to this problem as well as other Muslim around the Islamic world. They were involved with this complicated problem even if in the same situation colonialized for long time by the Dutch. This colonized situation not be an obstacle for the Indonesian Muslim activists to make many real actions for standing up with Baitul Maqdis and speaking up the liberation of Palestine from Jewish occupation. The aims of this paper are to know: (1) the standpoint of the Indonesian Islamic activist for Baitul-Maqdis issues? and (2) what they did to make action to deal with this issues? To answer this questions, I plan to search the otentic historical resourches in the magazines and newspapers were issued between 1917 to 1948 by the Islamic movement as well as Sarekat Islam (SI), Muhammadiyah, Nahdhatul Ulama (NU), Persatuan Islam (Persis),  and many others. This resourches will be analized by the historical method to result the naration about what asked above. By pre-analysis,  the informations that many times Indonesian Islamic activist held the event to support Baitul-Maqdis were found up in several books and journals. For the instance at July 5th 1937 held the big conference in Surabaya. In this conference, Palestinian Comittee’s formed. This comittee’s chaired by Wondoamiseno from Sarekat Islam (SI). The chairpersons form many others movement such as KH. Mas Mansur (Muhammadiyah), KH. Abdoel Wachab (NU), Sayyid Noeh Al-Kaff (Habaib), Oemar Hoebeis (Al-Irsyad). K.H. Kahar Muzakkir (Sarekat Islam), and others came and gave the speeches for this conference. This event can be first sign for us to search other fact that will reach this paper’s questions.

Abstract

Tujuan utama dari makalah ini adalah mengkaji kosmologi Ibnu Sina (980-1037 M) dan melihat bagiamana ia memiliki relevansi dalam diskursus kosmologi kontemporer. Untuk mengetahui kosmologi Ibnu Sina dengan benar, kajian mesti dimulai dengan mengkaji konsep Tuhan. Sebab sebagai sorang Muslim, konsep Tuhan memiliki peran sentral dalam mempengaruhi seluruh aspek dalam kehidupan, tak terkecuali dalam aspek pemikiran. Kajian tentang konsep Tuhan ini juga akan memperlihatkan beberapa penyimpangan pemikiran Ibnu Sina dari filsafat Yunani, terutama kosmologi Aristotelianisme—di mana Ibnu Sina mengambil inspirasi dalam merumuskan filsafatnya. Setelah mengkaji konsep Tuhan, kajian tentang konsep alam semesta beserta konsep turunannya seperti konsep ruang dan waktu, materi dan gerak akan dapat dipahami dengan baik. Dari pengkajian tentang konsep alam semesta, ruang dan waktu, materi dan gerak, ditemukan relevansi kosmologi Ibnu Sina dalam diskursus kosmologi kontemporer, yakni ketidakmungkinan multiverse dan model daur-ulang alam semesta.

Abstract

This article examines the idea of Islamization of knowledge as a variant of the issue of integration between science and Islam, to view the possibility of engendering to new science not only scientific but also religious, which is not only religious but scientific at once. With the framework of the philosophy of science, this study will bring the issue of Islamization of science more than just ideas and discourse but must forge it as a scientific paradigm, which is the paradigm of Islamization of Science. Therefore, the scientific paradigm is examined in advance, before it can be used as a perspective in reading Islamization of Science and also functionalize it in generating new knowledge. There are at least nine fundamental elements of the paradigm that must rediscover their competence with Islamic sciences, ranging from basic assumptions, values, studied issues, models, main concepts, methods of research, methods of analysis, the result of analysis or theory, and representation/ethnography. The success of this study became a large contribution to the intellectual movement that focuses on the engender of new science-based Islam or called by Islamic sciences.

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to discuss Malik Bennabi's thoughts on the role of religion in society. The discussion was carried out by using the content analysis method for some of Bennabi's works as primary sources and several other relevant references to describe his thoughts. After describing Bennabi's intellectual journey briefly, This paper begins the discussion with his thoughts on the origin of society and its definitions and the basic elements that make up it, namely the Human Realm, The Realm of Thought, and the Realm of Matter. The next discussion is about religion which is a source of moral value for society and encourages society to carry out its historical movements. Based on this, Bennabi concluded that religion is a fundamental factor in the development of society towards civilization and vice versa. Besides, he also believes that every civilization achieved by society has its roots in religious teachings.

Abstract

This article describes the confusion of the West phenomenon which is often declared by the glorious civilization according to modern society. But, Islam as a great religion is known to be a backward civilization and left behind from the West. A Turkish scholar named Muhammad Fethullah Gulen observed this phenomenon and tries to declare that the Islamic civilization is not backward. This type of research is library research, listing all literature and data related to Gulen’s perspective in the concept of Islamic civilization development. Researchers used descriptive-analysis methods to describe and analyze the concept of Islamic civilization according to Gulen and how to build it. The Researcher concludes that the pillars of Islamic civilization according to Muhammad Fethullah Gulen include four pillars, moral-spiritual, aesthetics, and love for the Creator.
