The Development of English Grammar Book Through Direct Method: Research and Development Study at Mambaus Sholihin English Course Imam Nur Aziz

Purpose - This research aims to understand the development of English book material for Grammar at Mambaus Sholihin English Course (MEC) Gresik. Design/methodology/approach - This research applied the Educational Research and Development (RnD) to develop the contents. This research method deals with the researcher’s purpose wants to be aimed by need analysis, drafting the document, organizing material, review, expert validation, revision I, try out, and correction II. Findings - This product has been suitable for the students’ needs to help them in learning grammar to be easier understood and practiced. The result shows that book is appropriated with the purposed to help them who need this research and development in relaxed and fun learning of grammar notification. Also, this book is completed with direct method although it is used in speaking skill more, it is also suitable for grammar in learning and teaching. Originality/value - It is important for a teacher or tutor to innovate in designing a teaching book that suits the needs of students. Especially for students who do not have a study handbook. Arabic Linguist Perspective on Ibn Jinni's Ideas About Derivation: Comparative Study of Al-Suyūṭī and Emīl Badī’ Thought Nahdliyyatul Azimah

Purpose - This research aims to illustrate the views of Al-Suyūṭī and Emīl Badī’ Ya’qūb about the thought of derivation according to Ibn Jinnī, as well as the location of the similarities and differences between their thoughts. Design/methodology/approach - This research study relies solely on literary studies or documentation of manuscripts, especially the works of Ibn Jinny, Al-Suyūṭī, and Emīl Badi' Ya’qūb. Findings - The result of this study that three linguists (Ibn Jinnī, Al-Suyūṭī, and EmīlBadi' Ya’qūb) agreed to challenge the definition of derivation. Al-Suyūṭī agreed to the thought of Ibn Jinnī in the division of derivation. As for Emīl, different opinions with the thought of Ibn Jinnī in three things, namely: Ibdāl, Naḥt (acronym), and the division of derivation. On the other side of Al-Suyūṭī denied the idea of Ibn Jinny in two respects, namely: derivation and naming of al-Ishtiqāq al- Akbar. Originality/value - Learners of Arabic language and religious studies students must study derivation science and are not confined to grammar and exclusivity. Because derivation science is an art that distinguishes the Arabic language from all other languages. Paper type - Conceptual Paper

Purpose - The study investigated the display and referential questions used by the local and International educated background teacher in English for Specific Purposes (ESP) classroom to promote communicative English class. Design/methodology/approach - The study was qualitatively held, to find out the answer to the research questions, classroom observations, and interviews with two teachers were conducted. Findings - The results indicated that both of the teachers asked higher-order questions in referential type more frequently than teachers in other studies and it could trigger communication effectively. the teachers delivered the questions within their styles. The local educated teacher used mixed Indonesian-Javanese and English to help the students understood the questions and respond well, but the internationally educated teacher employs the questions into whole English. She probes the questions a lot of time to make the questions understandable and simpler. The wait time given was much longer. Some analysis questions were composed to gain the student's braveness to express their answer. Originality/value - This study offered recommendations for effective teachers’ questioning types and techniques for the development of learners’ communicative skills, especially in an ESP class. Purpose - The study aims to observe the students ' skills in reading text with the instrument asking and writing the summary results read the text. Design/methodology/approach - To explain the process and the result of students’ writing wrote everything they saw in the class in field notes. Natural design and the phenomenon (descriptive qualitative) were also noted in the field note helping to analyze the data easily. The participants of this study were from mechanical engineering students, 53 students. Findings - The result showed many students could answer the question given and write a summary of the text having been read. Originality/value - Although this research is conducted at the university, the teachers, tutors, and parents to familiarize students or children with questions from the beginning six questions using WH-question mark. This is to train you to ask critically later when you become older. Because actually, the basic question with the WH-question mark is, directing students to take philosophical views. Purpose - The purpose of this study is to understand the process and constraints of using the method an-nahḍiyah in teaching reading the Koran - basic Arabic language - through online books. Design/methodology/approach - Because this research focuses on uncovering the learning process with a particular method, the design chosen is qualitative with direct observation to find out the process of applying the method and interviews with several instructors related to the constraints experienced. Findings - The findings of this study, that teaching with the method an-nahḍiyah through online books there are two stages carried out, namely guided learning with teachers and independent. Furthermore, because this teaching is in an-nahḍiyah, the teacher must be able to ensure the learning objectives are achieved. Originality/value – The benefit of this research is that teaching at an- nahḍiyah is not as easy as the level afterward, and the teacher must realize that at this level teaching must follow and according to the convenience of students, not vice versa students must follow any method applied by a teacher. Purpose - This study aims to test the ability of students when learning Arabic writing skills both after and before using survey methods. Design/methodology/approach - Because it aims to test effectiveness, researchers use quantitative-experimental methods with one group pre-test and post-test design. While the research object used as a sample is 8th-grade students at Santi Asromo Majalengka Middle School. Findings - The findings from the results of this study are, there are significant changes when learning to write using survey methods. With the details of t-count greater than t-table with an error level of 5% and the level of effectiveness is at the level of 53%. Originality/value – The implication of the results of this experiment is that teaching in the post method era does not mean eliminating a method in teaching. Furthermore, what will become a reflection for further research is how to position the method in the e-learning era and apply a method in it. Paper type – Research Paper
