Abstract

This research aims at identifying basic competencies (KD) at the levels of elementary school (SD), junior high school (SMP), and high school (SMA) viewed from the politeness material. To achieve the goal, data in the form of KD in Indonesian language subjects at SD, SMP, and SMA extracted from the documents of the Decree of Education Ministry No 37 of 2018 Core Competencies and Basic Competencies of Subjects in the 2013 Curriculum were evaluated. Data were collected using documentation techniques, while data in the form of scores from the validation results were obtained from two expert validators. The collected data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman (1984) flow technique. Results show scores of validation of SD, SMP, and SMA were 9, 9. The score of KD of each school was 8 respectively in core competencies (KI) III (knowledge domain) and KI IV (skills domain) which could potentially be integrated with politeness material. The integration which is done by adding the word "polite" to the competency achievement indicator (GPA) which is the result of KD development is considered valid by two expert validators with a mean score of 3.85 and 4.00, respectively. The existence of the word "polite" in the GPA has the consequence that the word "santun" is included in some of the learning objectives, politeness material is developed explicitly in textbooks and taught in classroom learning, and polite language competence is part of the assessment criteria.

Abstract

Texts on social media often highlight the Covid-19 pandemic. The text influences the mindset and mode of the readers. The purpose of this study is to describe the potential ecological impacts of infodemics, both constructive and destructive for readers. Data sourced from social media (Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter). The method used in this research is a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. The results showed that the ecological impact of infodemic discourse, namely the constructive impact represented by the content, meaning or message can influence the mindset and attitudes of readers to participate in preserving the environment. Positive texts can change negative environmental ethics into positive ones. The destructive impact in the form of excessive use of text, and without clear sources, has an impact on the effects of distraction, mental health, panic buying, confirmation bias and echo chambers, and tends to refuse to protect oneself and heed health protocols, making it difficult to handle the outbreak. In addition, misinformation on health has an impact on exacerbating outbreaks of infectious diseases. Especially damaging advice as false information is crafted with no respect for accuracy and is often integrated with narratives framed by emotion or conspiracy. The text affects attitudes and mindsets so that it damages the environment.

Abstract

Background: Pragmatic analysis has been widely developed through the use of an implicature. This paper tries to focus on the syntactical functions elaborated from an academic discourse as the focus of analysis. This study aimed to find the syntactic function of conversational interference spoken by speakers in academic contextual communication. The syntactical functions were identified in three parts: predicate, subject, and adverbs. Methodology: To achieve this objective, data in the form of oral statements with academic background were collected using note-taking techniques from 114 subjects through participant observation in lecture activities, online and offline meetings, discussions, final project consultations, and training. The data was analyzed using the Miles and Huberman flow technique through data reduction, data presentation, and the conclusion/verification of data analysis results. Findings: Results show that pragmatic expressions that can help the speaker to identify the intent of the speaker were positioned as fillers of predicates, subjects, and information. This pragmatic expression is the impact of the incomprehensibility or inconsistency of the narrator with the speaker who was previously the listener. For the sake of completeness, speakers add other pragmatic expressions with substitution strategies, additions, and conditional forms with an orientation that prioritizes politeness by avoiding direct speech with the negation of 'tidak (no),' 'belum (not yet),' 'bukan (not)' and 'jangan (not).
