Abstract

In this paper we explained the breakdown voltage testing that has been done on two dielectric liquid, castrol oil and palm oil using ball to ball electrode. This research observed the effect analysis of electrode gap distance to breakdown voltage, relation between temperature and breakdown voltage, liquid viscocity and breakdown voltage, and increasing temperature to the liquid viscocity. As the laboratory testing result, the breakdown voltage had proportional relation with the electrode gap distance. Viscocity of the liquid influence with its molecular structure and temperature. The liquid dieletricity depend on the electric field exposed and its viscocity. Palm oil has better dielectricity than castor oil in all distance variation and temperature. As the dielectric material must have big breakdown voltage value, the palm oil seen to have this feasibility according to its breakdown voltage 33,060 kV at gap distance 3 mm. Keywords: breakdown voltage, temperature, viscocity, electrode gap distance, dielectric, castor oil, palm oil.

Abstract

Electricity demand continues to increase so that the required power in a large number of high quality and reliability. Problems in electric power system that occur in transmission and distribution lines that is often of lightning stroke. This is because Indonesia is in the region the equator with a tropical climate and high humidity, so that Indonesia has a number of lightning strikes. In this paper the lightning stroke and lightning arrester performance on distribution lines 20 kV were simulated using EMTP (Electromagnetic Transient Program) for lightning stroke observation. As case study, Mojosongo 1 main feeder 20 kV three phase lines were used. From simulation of lightning stroke 20 kA in By1-61-61E-84-9I  on S phase at 0,1 ms, will experience of increase of voltage on S phase was 1,3054 MV and for R phase and T phase will experience of increase of induced voltage were 0,79539 MV and 0,80484 MV. Then we will see performance of MOV Arrester (Metal Oxide Varistor) in overcoming lightning stroke trouble, where arrester can decrease voltage up to 15,198 kV on S phase, while at R phase and T phase arrester can decrease voltage up to 11,375 kV and 13,616 kV. Keywords: Distribution lines 20 kV, lightning arrester, lightning stroke.

Abstract

Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM) is designed to provide solutions for high increasing number of subscribers of mobile communication services, while the frequency resources is limited. GSM is a digital cellular communication technology with a coverage service area is divided into small areas called cells, and each cell is handled by a site. To anticipate the growth of users number GSM system requires site re-planning that consist of three aspects, namely capacity, coverage and quality. With this site re-planning the number of site eficiency is expected. This paper has made simulation re-planning for an outdoor coverage site system of GSM radio network 900 and 1800 in Semarang city, which has area of 373.67 km2 and consists of 16 districts and 177 villages, so it can serve customers until 2014. From re-planning simulation for GSM 900 and 1800 radio network outdoor site coverage system in Semarang, can be known the needed number of sites to serve the customers until the year 2014 with a teledensity of 30%, i.e 91 sites with 250 Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM) sectoral cells and 230 Digital Cellular System (DCS) sectoral cells with the highest traffic for the micro cells occurred at sector 3, Sendangguwo village, District Tembalang that is equal to 132.36 Erlang, while the highest traffic for the macro cells occurred in Sector 3 Bamban Kerep village, District Ngaliyan which amounted to 66,24 E. Abstract

The features of MMA7260Q are low cost, low current consumption, low voltage operation, high sensitivity, a 1-pole low pass filter, and g-Select which allows for the selection among 4 sensitivities. The accelerometer is an acceleration sensor that output signal in voltage/g, where g is an earth gravity. The acceleration is the rate of change of the velocity of an object and the velocity is the rate of change of the position of the same object. The position is the integration of velocity and the velocity is the integration of acceleration. If the data of the acceleration of an object is known, the data of the position can obtain by applied a double integration. This paper presents the calibration factor of three axis of accelerometers. The value of three calibration factor are not same. In general, the experiment using A1 algorithm and M2 method give the smaller of error than the other. The calibrations factor are 2.1158 for x axis, 1.6873 for y axis, and 2.1539 for z axis. The error of the distance estimation is about 3% till 4 %, so the research must be developed using the digital filter. Keywords: MMA7260Q, calibration factor, three axis

Abstract

Power distribution network is the part of electrical power system close to the customer or load side than the transmission network. To be better the electrical power system giving the electrical power supply to the customer, load balance must be achieved in each load points. Keseimbangan beban dapat tercapai jika tegangan yang dihasilkan dapat mensuplai beban secara penuh dari masing-masing titik beban maka sistem juga menjadi lebih baik dalam pemenuhan kebutuhan listrik. The load balance is important issue to decrease the voltage drop or power losses that can be occured in distribution line, so the information about load characteristics in each phases (R, S, and T) in some network area must be observed certain time. Keywords: distribution system, load balance, drop voltage, power loss.

Abstract

Since Hertz and Marconi, antennas have became increasingly important to our society until now they are indispensable. They are everywhere: at home and workplaces, on cars and aircraft, also in ships and satellites. So far most used antenna is an antenna with a single polarization, the horizontal polarization or vertical polarization only. The advantage of circular polarization is the radiation of antenna can be well received by the vertical receiving antenna or horizontal receiving antenna. The purpose of this research is to design and build a circular polarized antenna. Then the values of the parameters measured using Hewlett Packard 8656B Signal Generator as a transmitter and Hewlett Packard 8901A Modulation Analyzer as a receiver. Both measuring devices were used to determine the frequency and power generated by the antenna. SX-1000 SWR meter as a measuring VSWR and analog VU meters are used to determine the signal strength of the antenna. The result shows that the antenna works well on a predetermined frequency (144 MHz), has omni directional radiation pattern and its VSWR is 1.09. The result of the antenna radiation can also be well received, using vertical and horizontal polarization antenna. VU meter shows that the highest value when antenna used as transmitter is 10 μV and 11 μV when antenna is used as receiver antenna. Keywords: Antenna, vertical polarization, horizontal polarization, circular polarization.

Abstract

Problems in the current telecommunications system is how to send data with a very high speed but limited in the frequency allocation. One of the solution of this problems that is used a OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) system which is a multicarrier communication scheme where the inter-frequency subcarriers orthogonal to each other and overlapping each other so it can save the frequency allocation. To serve more than one user, OFDM systems have combined with a CDMA multiple access technique.A simulation of the OFDM system created using Matlab by applying the CDMA system for the multiple access technique in the OFDM system and known as CDMA-OFDM. Combination of these two techniques will increase the speed of data transmission and it can serve many users at one time. This final project aims to determine the influence of the number of users in the system, the long PN code, the number of subcarrier and the value of Eb/No CDMA-OFDM system in Additive White Gaussian Noise (AWGN) transmission channel. The performance of the system was known from the value of Bit Error Rate (BER) at receiver. For PN code length variation 32, 64 and 128, the simulation CDMA-OFDM system with 32 users showed that the longer PN code is used, the system will show a better performance. It can be seen from the value of the BER system is decreases. For  PN code length 32, the system will show the value of BER 0 in the level of Eb/No 9 dB. For PN code length 64, the system will show the value of BER 0 in the level of Eb/No 7 dB and for PN code length 128, the system will show the value of BER 0 in the level of Eb/No 3 dB. Keywords: CDMA, OFDM, PN code, subcarrier, multiuser.
