Abstract

Thawing is a method by melting back of semen that had been frozen prior to artificialinsemination (AI). The temperature and duration of thawing has a major influence on the state of thespermatozoa, especially the integrity of spermatozoa in the semen. The combination of temperatureand duration of thawing that will either be able to prevent damage to sperm , so it still has a highfertility rate. In common, lowland is an area that has low temperature and humidity, so it will have aneffect of thawing’s temperature. The purpose of this study was to determine the temperature andduration of thawing of Brahman’s frozen semen which have the most optimal to get used inartificial inseminations in lowlands area.Research was conducted in March 2014 using a completely randomized design (CRD) with a3x3 factorial. The first factor is the temperature (34°C, 37°C, and 40°C) and Factor II is duration ofthawing (10 seconds, 15 seconds, and 20 seconds) with 3 replications. Parameters observed in thisstudy is the percentage of sperm motility and live spermatozoa. The results were analyzed usingANOVA and Duncan's test at the advanced level of 5 % and 1%. The results showed that temperatureand duration of thawing give effects to the quality of the frozen semen of Brahman cattle, but has nointeraction between them. The most good quality spermatozoa at a temperature of 40ºC spermmotility is 37,77% and the percentage of live spermatozoa is a 40,83%. Duration of thawing at 15seconds sperm motility is 38,33% and the percentage of live spermatozoa is a 39,77%.

Abstract

Using varians of litter such us rice hull, wood shavings, straw on keeping the broiler, can affectbroiler performance. Its happen because every single litter has different power of absorbing the water.Closed house is closed cage that build for making a better environment inside the cage. The aim of theresearch was to : (1) Knowing the effect of litter of broiler performance, and (2) Finding the bes tlitterfor broiler performance on the closed house.It was conducted during 26 days since April 14, 2014 to Mei 10, 2015 at the PT Ramajayafarm’s on Krawangsari village, sub District Natar, South Lampung District. The chiken used wasbroiler strain cobb with trademark CP 707 product by PT. Chareon pokphand Indonesia tbk for 270chiken. Broiler start to get handling between age of 14 and 26 days.The research method was experimentally with Completely Randomized Design (CRD) weredivided into 3 step and repeated for 6 times, that is p1: rice hull; p2 : wood shavings; p3 : straw. Thedata were analysis with Analysis of Variance and if it shows 5%, then the analyze would be continuedto Ducan test.The result indicated that the treatmentis : (1) The effect of litter from rice hull, wood shavings,straw did not have significant effect (P>0,05) on performance (consumption, body weight gain, feedconversion and income over feed cost) broiler at closed house. (2) The effect varians of litter (ricehull, wood shavings, straw) at closed house having the same effect as consumption, body weight gain,feed conversion and income over feed cost (IOFC) for broiler finisher phase

Abstract

This study aimed to: 1) determine the effect of the use of rice husk, rice straw and woodshavings as litter material on the physiological response of broiler finisher phase (14th days--harvest)in closed house, 2) determine the best type of litter material on the physiological response of broilerfinisher phase (14th days--harvest) in the closed house. This study was conducted over 26th days on15th April--10th May 2014 in closed house owned by PT. Rama Jaya Lampung Krawang Sari Village,Natar District, South Lampung regency. The design used was completely randomized design (CRD)with three treatments and six replications. The treatment consists of the type of litter material (ricehusk, wood shavings, straw and rice). Each experimental unit consisted of 15 birds and 18 plotsenclosure so broiler strain CP 707 is used as much as 270 tails. Sampling was conducted physiologicalresponses by 20% of the number of experimental units. The Data obtained was analyzed using a rangeof 5% significance level.Based on these results it can be concluded that: (1) the use of various types of litter materialson the physiological response of broiler did not significantly affect respiratory rate, heart rate, rectaltemperature and temperature shank, (2) there is no treatment of rice husk litter type material, shavingswood, and rice straw on the closed house best effect on respiratory rate, heart rate, rectal temperature,and temperature on broiler finisher phase shank.

Abstract

The aim of this research was to 1) determine the effect of the use of rice husk, wood shavings,rice straw as litter material on litter quality for broiler during the finisher phase in closed house, 2)determine the best type of litter material on litter quality for broiler during the finisher phase in closedhouse. The duration of the research was 26 days. The research was started from 15 April to 10 May2014 in the closed house owned by PT. Rama Jaya Lampung Krawang Sari Village, the District ofNatar,Southern Lampung regency.This research was conducted using a completely randomized design (CRD) with three levels oftreatment and six replications. The treatment levels were the types of litter material (i.e. rice husk,wood shavings, chopped straw and rice). The samples were 270 broilers which were divided into 18plots. Therefore, there were 15 broilers in each plot (per square meter). The data were statisticallyanalyzed using ANOVA with 5% significance level. Duncan test with 5% significance level wasconducted for further testing should the ANOVA obtained any significant results.The results showed that(1) the use of rice husk , wood shavings and rice straw as the litter materials inclosed house showed a significant effect (P <0.05) on litter moisture content, but not significantly (P>0.05) on ammonia levels, pH, and litter temperature. Abstract

The research was conducted in April 2014 in slaughterhouses in Bandar Lampung. This studyaims to determine the physical quality of the beef that is in Bandar Lampung by pH, water holdingcapacity and cooking loss. The meat is taken from the back of the thigh meat obtained fromslaughterhouses in Bandar Lampung. This study uses survey were analyzed descriptively.The results showed that the physical quality of the beef that is in Bandar Lampung is stillwithin the normal range. Average pH of 6.0, while the average value of 30.14 water holding capacity,and the average value of 42.53 cooking shrinkage. Based on these results it can be concluded that(1)the physical quality of the beef slaughtering place is normal and (2)good to eat.

Abstract

The aim of this research was to determine the lest temperature and durations of thawing athigh altitudes in frozen semen of Brahman bull. This research conducted in 8-27 March 2014. Thisresearch was conducted using a completely randomized design (CRD) with 3x3 factorial. The firstfactorial is temperature (34oC, 37oC, and 40oC) and second factorial is thawing durations with 3replications. Variables were deserved in this researchs the percentage of alive sperm and spermmotility. Research data was analyzed by Anova and Duncan test at 5%.The result showed that the temperatures and thawing durations influence the quality ofBrahman bull frozen semen, but has no interaction between them. Of this this research, the bestquality of spermatozoa obtained at 40oC and the 20 second duration of thawing has the highest qualityaverage among the other treatments. Motility of spermatozoa at 40oC is 33,89% and thawing durationat 20 second is 35,56%, the percentage of alive sperm at 40oC is 37,04% and the duration of thawingat 20 second is 35,43%.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of straw space with liquid nitrogen on pre freezingprocess and the best straw space to the quality of frozen semen of Limousin Cows so that they areappropriate for Artificial Insemination process. This study was conducted in Regional TechnicalService Unit-Regional Artificial Insemination Office Lampung, Terbanggi Besar District, CentralLampung Regency, Lampung Province on 7th—13 th April 2014. The Completely RandomizedDesign (CRD) was used is these research with five treatments of straw spaces, 2 cm, 4 cm, 6 cm, 8cm, and 10 cm, with 4 replications. The data obtained was analyzed by using variance analysisandcontinued by Polinomial Ortogonal test.The result of this study showed that the straw space was significantly (P<0,01) to the motilityand live spermatozoa after thawing. However it was not significantly (P>0,05) to the motility and livespermatozoa after pre freezing. Polinomial Ortogonal test, obtained that the straw space wassignificantly (P<0,01) to the motility and live spermatozoa after thawing, had quadratic pattern withequation of Y = - 6,50 + 12,09x – 0,89x2 ; R2 = 41,3%, with the best effect on the straw space of 6 cm,that is 34%. Besides, the straw space was also different (P<0,01) to percentage of live spermatozoaafter thawing, had quadratic pattern with equation of Y = 8,97 + 8,81x - 0,64x2 ; R2 = 41,3%, withthe best effect on the straw space of 6 cm, that is 38,79%.

Abstract

The aim of this research was to know what the effect of C vitamin increament (ascorbat acid)in skim egg yolk extender to semen motility and life percentage of sperm cell. This research wasconducted in Regional Technical Service Unit-Regional Artificial Insemination Office Lampung,Terbanggi Besar District on 18 th --25 th April 2014. The treatment of this research are P1 (without Cvitamin increament), P2 (1,50 mM C vitamin increament), P3 (2,50 mM C vitamin increament), P4(3,50 mM C vitamin increament), P5 (4,50 mM C vitamin increament) in skim egg yolk extender andevery treatment repetitions for three times. The data obtained was analyzed by using variance analysis5%. Results of this research showed that increament C vitamin dosage into skim egg yolk extenderwas no significantly (P>0.05) to sperm motility and life percentage of sperm.

Abstract

The research aimed to determine the hematological profile (erythrocytes, leukocytes, andhemoglobin) of grower laying hens with different cage density and the best cage density. Thisresearch has been conducted in April 2014 using 210 grower laying hens 7--10 weeks in Varia AgungJaya Farm and Balai Veteriner Lampung. The treatment is given based on completely randomizeddesign (CRD), consisting of four treatments and five replications. The data was analyzed usinganalysis of variance on 5% significance level.The result of the research shows that the density of the cage 6,9,12, and 15 hens m-2 have notsignificant (P>0,05) on hematological profile (erythrocytes 1,04--2,74 x 106 mm-3; leukocytes 27,96--52,52 x 103 mm-3; and hemoglobin 6,40--8,20 g/dl).

Abstract

Purebred chicken egg is the most favorable egg in the society. This egg usually will be damageafter 14-days of storage. Beside of the storage duration, the internal quantity of egg has also beenaffected by quality of eggshell. The quality of eggshell include the eggshell thickness and amount ofeggshell pores. The amount of eggshell pores can be identified by means of eggshell color. The poreshave a role on the CO2 evaporation process, which give effect to the albumen index, yolk index, andegg’s pH.The purposes of the research are to know the best effect of storage duration and eggshell colorto albumen index, yolk index, and egg’s pH. This research was done on April 10-24th, 2014, usecomplete randomize block design with 2x2 of nested model. The main block is storage duration (P1: 7days and P2: 14 days) and the partial block is eggshell’s color (W1: light brown and W2: dark brown)with 5 times replication. The observed variable in this research are albumen index, yolk index, andegg’s pH. The research’s data were analyzed by using Analysis of variance test and 5% error levelDuncan test.The research result shown that storage duration and eggshell color have significant effect(P<0,05) toward albumen index, yolk index, and egg’s pH. The 7 days storage for light browneggshell color and dark brown eggshell color have good quality of albumen index, yolk index, andegg’s pH.
