Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of concentrate and amonium zeolite supplementation inration to the body weight gain of Boerawa goats. Fifteen Boerawa goats of 6—7 months old, withaverage initial body weight of 15,11 ± 4,44 kg/goat, were used in this experiment. This study usedRandomized Block Design with 3 treatments. The treatments were R0: ration of farmers, R1:ration of farmers 30% + concentrate 70%, and R2: R1 + amoniated zeolite 5% of ration dry matterof R1 with five replications. The water during this experiment was given ad libitum. The result ofthis study showed that the treatments of addition of concentrate without zeolite amoniated (R1)and addition of concentrate and zeolite amoniated R2 increased the body weight gain (P<0,05)compared with the treatments only addition of silage of cassava trunk and leaves (R0). However,the treatment of R2 showed the same result with R1 on the value of the body weight gain (P>0,05)of Boerawa goats. Besides, on the treatment R1 and R2 decreased the consumption of rude proteincompared with only R0 (P<0,01). However, on the treatment of R2 and R1 could increase theratio of protein efficiency which caused the increase of body weight heavier compared with R0 ofBoerawa goats (P<0,01).

Abstract

Parent Productivity Index (IPP) is a picture of the ability of a parent to care for and raise theirchildren until the age of weaning until they reach a certain weaning weight within one year.Research purposes to determine the value of the parent group IPP Etawa Cross breed goats (PE)and determine the five male parent with IPP best value in the South Metro District, City Metro,Lampung Province.Survey method used in this study with a case study in the District of South Metro, Metro City. Thedata used are secondary data taken from the records of 40 breeding goats that had given birthtwice. The experiment was conducted on 20 October to 25 November 2012. Parameters observedin this study were aged mother at delivery, birth spacing, the number of children per birth parentgroup, birth weight and weaning, weaning age, sex, type of birth, and type of maintenance goatgroup.The results showed that the average weaning weight declined from 21.00 ± 1.05 kg, range 9.2 ±0.40 months of birth, number of children per birth tailed 1.83 ± 0.26, and 50.58 ± IPP values 8.76.IPP goat with the best value in a row C2 61.16; F2 59.79; G3 59.70; E2 59.29; I4 59.29. Based onthe results of this study suggested the goat breeders in the South Metro District 5 to give priority tothe goat breeders and other goat mother with IPP score above the average (21 of 40 head or52.5%) to be maintained in order to grown in population and get rid of the parent-parent with alow IPP score (14 out of 40 head or 35%).

Abstract

The aim of this research was to determine the conception rate and the factors value that affect in beef cattle in the district Jati Agung, South Lampung regency. This study was conducted in April 2014 to 1,410 head of beef cattle belonging to 776 farmers. The research used a survey method with primary and secondary data. Analysis data used regression analysis with SPSS ( Statistic Packet for Social Science) program.The results showed that the conception rate in the district Jati Agung is a great identity for 36.03 ± 1.16. Factors that effect conception rates in beef cattle in the district Jati Agung is distance between the cowshed with house that negatively assosiated with factor value 0.003, number of factor concentrate that negatively assosiated with factor value of 0.027, amount of forage factor that negatively assosiated with factor value 0.003, a large area of the cage that negatively assosiated with factor value 0.020, and amount of beef cows that maintained that negatively assosiated with factor value 0.049 and a positive association was never followed a course that positively assosiated with factor value 0.112. The factors that influence conception rates in beef cattle farm level is great on long weaning period that negatively assosiated with factor value 0.013, mating postpartum that positiively assosiated with factor value 0.376, calving interval that negatively assosiated with factor value 0.412, the age of cattle that positively assosiated with factor value 0.006, the first estrus postpartum artificial insemination that positively assosiated with factor value 0.133 and time to insemination that negatively assosiated with factor value 0,406.

Abstract

The needs of animal protein especially of meats, is increasing from year to year in line with the rising numbers of people as well as an enhanced awareness of Indonesian people about fulfilling the nutrition. One of the efforts can be done to get fresh meat for consumption at their own volition was by raising the standard of the population and productivity of low class ruminants to set up their cattle on a more sustainable path. The purpose of this activity was proposed the framework for the landscape of a planning at the office of KAPITAN that serves as a means of the dissemination of technological innovations, a place to conduct field studies and mean engineering technology and shall be promulgated by the application of the concept of GFP. Material and methode to materialize this needs to be a manual the cultivation of its beef cattle (Good Farming Practices). The concept of GFP is the application of the efficiency of production with must pay attention to the environmental factors in the business of a farm. Several factors that must be considered include cattle that are reared, feed given, the management of the cost of maintenance, left the care of his facilities as well as the surrounding environment. Several factors that must be taken care are its industrial activity among others cattle that are reared, feed given, the management of the cost of maintenance, the facilities of maintenance as well as the surrounding environment. Result and discussions, the application of the concept of GFP requires good managerial and qualified human resources to maintain under strict supervision and in a continuous way. The department for The Assessment and Application of Technology (BPPT) that plan to build “the area of the application of technological innovations of animal husbandry (KAPITAN) Prumpung Gunung Sindur Bogor districts” is trying to participate in the application of the concept of GFP. Conclusion, Kapitan Prumpung is expected to beneficial in helping on the development of food security in the delivery of animal protein origin of ruminants through innovation in the field of animal husbandry and the increase in human resources of animal husbandry Keywords: Husbandry Landscape, Good Farming Practices, Environmental Friendly

Abstract

This research aims to determined: 1) the effect of suplementation lactic acid bacterial inoculant, cassava flour, as well as a combination of lactic acid bacterial inoculant and cassava flour to the fleigh value, level of cyanide, and physical qualities in crop waste cassava silage; 2) the best suplementation to the fleigh value, level of cyanide, and physical qualities in crop waste cassava silage.  The research was conducted in August-September 2014 in the Laboratory of Nutrition and Feed Livestock, Department of Animal Husbandry, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Lampung. This study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD). Data were analyzed by Analysis of Varians and continued with Least Significant Difference Test (LSD) 0.01.  The results showed that the best value fleigh silage was on combination treatment of lactic acid bacteria inoculants and cassava flour (p <0.01). The lowest level of cyanide silage was on cassava flour treatment (p <0.01). Treatments did not have a different effect on the physical qualities of the silage. The whole silage had a distinctive sour scent, textured crumb, not clot, green-brown, and not moldy. Based on these results it could be seen that the addition of various accelerators produced very good qualities silage so that the application could be given one of these accelerators.

Abstract

Research to find out liver fluke infestation level of Bali cattle in Sukoharjo sub-district, Pringsewu Regency, Lampung Province was implemented in December 2014 until January 2015.  The method used is the method of survei and sampling of Bali cattle were selected by proportional random sampling.  Sampling on cattle according to the population in each village and were collected proportionally by every 100 individuals represented by one Bali cattle farmer.  To correct for multiple stage sampling either on a sample of cattle and farmers, so the number of cattle and farmers multiplied by four, in order to obtained 131 faecal samples Bali cattle.  Data were analyzed descriptively.  Stool examination conducted by using Sedimentation Test.  The results showed liver fluke infestation level in Sukoharjo sub-district is 27,62% that there were 35 positive samples infested from 131 faecal samples were examined.   (Keywors :infestation level, liver fluke, Bali cattle).

Abstract

The aim of resetcah to determine the role of urea, Phanerochaete chrysosporium, and Trametes sp. the content of hemicellulose and cellulose after fermented. The research was conducted using Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with three replications. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance at 5% level test or 1%, followed by the Least Significant Difference test (LSD). The treatment accorded to the palm leaf midrib P0 = palm leaf sheaths without addition or control; P1 = palm sheaths leaf + urea; P2 =palm sheaths  leaf + Phanerochaete chrysosporium inoculum; P3 = palm sheaths leaf +Trametes sp. Inoculums.  The results showed that the addition of urea, Phanerochaete chrysosporium, and Trametes sp. fermentation of palm leaf midrib affect the content of hemicellulose and cellulose. Hemicellulose content of the fermentation of palm leaf midrib best found in fermented palm leaf midrib + Trametes sp. and In the parameters contained in cellulose fermentation of palm sheaths leaf without treatment, palm sheaths leaf + urea, palm sheaths leaf + Phanerochaete chrysosporium. Abstract

This research used 287 cattle cows owned by 198 breeders, involve 3 sub-districts in Central Lampung District.This research aimed to determine factors affecting conception rate after oestrous synchronization in cattle cows inCentral Lampung District, Lampung Province in November 2012-Februari 2013.The result of this research showed that the conception rate cattle cows after oestrous synchronization in CentralLampung District was 60,53 %, included in less good category. The factors affecting conception rate after oestroussynchronization in Central Lampung District were the amount of pasture given which positively associate with thefactor amount of 0,020, the shape of cage wall which negatively associate with the factor amount of 1,473, thematerial of cage floor which positively associate with the factor amount of 0,701, the cage width which negativelyassociate with the factor amount of 0,062, & the breeding long time which positively associate with the factoramount of 0,057.

Abstract

Thawing is a method by melting back of semen that had been frozen prior to artificialinsemination (AI). The temperature and duration of thawing has a major influence on the state of thespermatozoa, especially the integrity of spermatozoa in the semen. The combination of temperatureand duration of thawing that will either be able to prevent damage to sperm , so it still has a highfertility rate. In common, lowland is an area that has low temperature and humidity, so it will have aneffect of thawing’s temperature. The purpose of this study was to determine the temperature andduration of thawing of Brahman’s frozen semen which have the most optimal to get used inartificial inseminations in lowlands area.Research was conducted in March 2014 using a completely randomized design (CRD) with a3x3 factorial. The first factor is the temperature (34°C, 37°C, and 40°C) and Factor II is duration ofthawing (10 seconds, 15 seconds, and 20 seconds) with 3 replications. Parameters observed in thisstudy is the percentage of sperm motility and live spermatozoa. The results were analyzed usingANOVA and Duncan's test at the advanced level of 5 % and 1%. The results showed that temperatureand duration of thawing give effects to the quality of the frozen semen of Brahman cattle, but has nointeraction between them. The most good quality spermatozoa at a temperature of 40ºC spermmotility is 37,77% and the percentage of live spermatozoa is a 40,83%. Duration of thawing at 15seconds sperm motility is 38,33% and the percentage of live spermatozoa is a 39,77%.

Abstract

Using varians of litter such us rice hull, wood shavings, straw on keeping the broiler, can affectbroiler performance. Its happen because every single litter has different power of absorbing the water.Closed house is closed cage that build for making a better environment inside the cage. The aim of theresearch was to : (1) Knowing the effect of litter of broiler performance, and (2) Finding the bes tlitterfor broiler performance on the closed house.It was conducted during 26 days since April 14, 2014 to Mei 10, 2015 at the PT Ramajayafarm’s on Krawangsari village, sub District Natar, South Lampung District. The chiken used wasbroiler strain cobb with trademark CP 707 product by PT. Chareon pokphand Indonesia tbk for 270chiken. Broiler start to get handling between age of 14 and 26 days.The research method was experimentally with Completely Randomized Design (CRD) weredivided into 3 step and repeated for 6 times, that is p1: rice hull; p2 : wood shavings; p3 : straw. Thedata were analysis with Analysis of Variance and if it shows 5%, then the analyze would be continuedto Ducan test.The result indicated that the treatmentis : (1) The effect of litter from rice hull, wood shavings,straw did not have significant effect (P>0,05) on performance (consumption, body weight gain, feedconversion and income over feed cost) broiler at closed house. (2) The effect varians of litter (ricehull, wood shavings, straw) at closed house having the same effect as consumption, body weight gain,feed conversion and income over feed cost (IOFC) for broiler finisher phase
