Abstract

Cultural, religious, and social diversity in Indonesian school environments demands educational approaches that can cultivate tolerance, empathy, and inclusive attitudes from an early age. This article aims to identify and analyze methods for fostering diversity in schools through a literature review from the perspectives of inclusive and multicultural education. The study adopts a qualitative library research design, with data collection conducted through a systematic review of Indonesian scholarly journal articles indexed in DOAJ and published in 2025. The search yielded five relevant journal articles. The data were analyzed using content analysis to categorize the strategies and approaches employed in managing diversity in schools. The findings highlight five dominant methods: inclusive curriculum design, social-emotional learning, integration of Pancasila and religious values, instructional supervision for teachers, and the use of interactive media. Each method contributes in a specific way to shaping an inclusive school climate that respects and values differences. In conclusion, diversity can be fostered effectively through pedagogical approaches that are reflective, adaptive, and grounded in local values. This study offers a theoretical contribution to the development of multicultural education in Indonesia while also providing practical recommendations for teachers and policymakers. Future research is encouraged to empirically test the effectiveness of these methods across diverse school contexts.

Abstract

Mosques on the slopes of Mount Kelud, Kediri Regency, have historically preserved water management traditions, yet modern practices threaten their sustainability. This study aims to explore the Islamic values embedded in these traditions and their role in maintaining water sustainability. Using a qualitative approach, data were collected through literature reviews, observations of historical mosques, and interviews with mosque administrators, religious leaders, and local water management practitioners. Findings reveal that traditional features like blombang (water pools), shady trees (e.g., sawo, tanjung), and natural filtration systems support water availability and ecosystem resilience, while modern cement structures and boreholes disrupt water absorption, causing scarcity and facility damage. These traditions reflect Islamic principles of environmental stewardship. The study implies that revitalizing these practices can enhance water sustainability and strengthen mosques’ roles as ecological and cultural hubs, offering a model for community-based conservation.

Abstract

In the context of rapid digital transformation and shifting patterns of religious engagement among younger generations, effective communication has become a critical challenge for mosque institutions in urban Muslim societies. This study examines the communication gap between mosque administrators and Generation Z in Makassar, exploring the potential of Gen Z as digital catalysts in transforming mosque communication for inclusive community service. The research employs a mixed-methods approach. Quantitative data were collected through questionnaires from 300 Gen Z individuals, while qualitative data were gathered through in-depth interviews with key stakeholders, including mosque administrators, religious leaders, community leaders, and youth figures, to explore their perspectives and communication challenges. The findings reveal that Gen Z heavily relies on visual and interactive digital platforms (Instagram, TikTok, WhatsApp) and feels that current mosque communication is unengaging and irrelevant. There is broad acknowledgment of this communication gap from all stakeholders. Key findings indicate Gen Z's willingness to get involved and use their digital skills to manage mosque social media, with a strong desire for creative freedom.

Abstract

The transformation of Sufi practices within Indonesia’s urban setting has prompted sustained discussions concerning religious authority, orthodoxy, and engagement with modernity. In Jakarta, the rise of neo-Sufism, urban Sufism, and digitally mediated religiosity illustrates the dynamic interaction between continuity and change in Islamic spiritual traditions. This study explores Sayyid Usman bin Yahya’s nineteenth-century critique of Sufi practices and examines its relevance to the development of modern Islamic thought in Jakarta. Utilizing library research and qualitative content analysis, the study engages with Sayyid Usman’s primary texts alongside contemporary scholarly works on Sufism. The findings indicate that his opposition to religious innovations, superstitious practices, and the excessive veneration of spiritual authorities played a significant role in shaping a Sharia-oriented model of urban Sufism. This model emphasizes the primacy of the Qur’an and Hadith, promotes rational engagement in spiritual life, and demonstrates adaptability to metropolitan social conditions. By connecting classical critiques of local Sufi traditions with contemporary forms of urban religiosity, this study addresses an important gap in the literature and contributes to broader discussions on Islamic education, digital da‘wah, and Muslim identity formation in modern urban contexts.

Abstract

This study examines the strategies and implementation of religious moderation within Islamic Education at UIN Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin Banten. Religious moderation has become a national priority in Indonesia to strengthen harmony, counter extremism, and promote peaceful coexistence. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, this research investigates institutional strategies, curriculum design, learning practices, and policy implementation at UIN SMH Banten. The findings reveal that the university integrates religious moderation through curriculum enrichment, lecturer capacity building, research activities, community service programs, and campus culture development. Abstract

Students with low resilience in preparing a thesis are prone to stress, depression, and wanting to end their lives. This study aims to determine the relationship between religiosity and resilience in students enrolled in thesis programs. This study is a correlational quantitative study. The data collection tools used in this study were a resilience scale and a religiosity scale. The subjects in this study were 32 students selected through purposive sampling. Hypothesis testing in this study used simple linear regression analysis with the help of SPSS. The results of the study showed a significant relationship between religiosity and resilience in active students in the thesis program. In other words, the better the religiosity of students in the thesis program, the better their level of resilience, and conversely, the lower the religiosity of students in the thesis program, the lower their level of resilience.
