Abstract

This analysis focuses on the revenge of the main characters in the films "The Professionals" (2016) and "Foxtrot Six" (2019), which will be examined through Sigmund Freud's Psychoanalytic theory based on the id, ego, and superego of the main characters' actions in the films. The qualitative approach employed with a comparative analysis method aims to delve more deeply into understanding and analyzing the psychological aspects of the main characters in both films. This is particularly focused on the context, inner conflicts, psychological defense mechanisms, and revenge motives. The research findings indicate a significant contribution to understanding the psychology of characters in the context of film, urging a deeper consideration of the impact of inner conflicts on the narrative and characters in cinematic works.

Abstract

This research discusses the background to the founding of Panjebar Semangat magazine as a medium for developing Javanese language and literature, its role as a medium for preserving Javanese language and literature, as well as the efforts made to preserve Javanese language and literature. To examine this problem, this research uses a historical method consisting of four sequential stages, namely heuristics, source criticism, interpretation, and historiography. The research results show that the Panjebar Semangat magazine was founded in 1933. As the name suggests, the aim of establishing the Panjebar Semangat magazine was to spread and ignite the spirit of nationalism to win the independence of the Republic of Indonesia from the hands of Dutch colonial rule. This magazine is a medium for preserving the Javanese language and literature, which has been demonstrated since its inception. This magazine has consistently used Javanese as its language of instruction and has been productive in publishing Javanese language works in literary sections such as Crita Cekak, Taman Geguritan, Crita Sambung, Crita Rakyat, Crita Gambar, and Alaming Lelembut. The efforts made by Panjebar Semangat to develop Javanese literature include giving Literary Prizes to Javanese literature authors whose work is considered good and interesting, creating new rubrics, holding contests or writing competitions for Javanese literature, and developing online media.

Abstract

Kajian ini ditulis dengan tujuan untuk mendeskripsikan sejarah wayang kulit di Indonesia, sejarah diplomasi dan upaya diplomasi yang dilakukan Indonesia, serta perjalanan wayang kulit sebagai media diplomasi kebudayaan Indonesia. Metode yang digunakan dalam kajian ini yaitu metode kajian pustaka, yang berfokus pada karya-karya tulis ilmiah baik itu berupa artikel ilmiah, hasil penelitian yang telah dilakukan oleh orang lain, website maupun buku yang disusun oleh ahli dan menekuni bidang kajian sesuai dengan bidang yang ingin dikaji dalam penelitian ini. Hasi kajian menunjukkan bahwa telah banyak pihak non-pemerintah Indonesia yang melakukan upaya diplomasi kebudayaan di dunia internasional. Salah satunya yaitu para seniman wayang kulit yang telah go international. Tujuan dari upaya diplomasi kebudayaan tersebut antara lain untuk memperkenalkan budaya asli Indonesia dan mempertahankan citra negara di dunia internasional. Selain itu diplomasi kebudayaan tersebut merupakan bentuk pelestarian budaya asli Indonesia yang telah ditetapkan oleh UNESCO pada tahun 2003, seni pewayangan. Adanya kajian ini diharapkan mampu mengembangkan kajian-kajian sejarah budaya dan upaya diplomasi kebudayaan Indonesia. Serta menumbuhkan rasa tanggungjawab terhadap budaya asli Indonesia.

Abstract

The paper aims to analyze the main character, Naoko, in Haruki Murakami’s novel Norwegian Wood based on Freud’s theory of id, ego, and superego. The type of data used in this study is qualitative data. The primary source used in this study is the Norwegian Wood novel written by Haruki Murakami. To obtain the data related to support the discussion, the library research and content analysis method is implemented. The data analysis approach used in this study is Freud’s personality theory of the id, ego, and superego. The results of this study indicate that there are forms of id, ego, and superego in Haruki Murakami’s Norwegian Wood novel which are reflected by the character, Naoko. Through the analysis of the id, ego, and superego, the personality, behavior, and internal struggles of Naoko can be explained.

Abstract

Beauty standards that spread widely in society make people treat some different from the other. It also influence how people see a person in a formal context, like in recruiting job or school. Unfortunately, this perennial bias also appear in how Indonesian skincare and body care brands make their advertisements. The advertisements usually only show model with particular beauty standards and left diversity behind, forgetting that beauty cannot be defined as simple as that. This research take a depth look about it through the interviews with selected Semarang college students. The research explores about those advertisements and its impact of how people define beauty. Aiming to understand college students’ point of view of mentioned issue, this research wants to become a starting step in changing the prevailing beauty standards.
