Personality is a crucial factor for the success of students in the learning process. Instilling good habits from an early age is very important for students. Teachers play a significant role in schools, especially Islamic Education (PAI) teachers, who are educators directly responsible for moral development and the inculcation of legal norms concerning right and wrong, as well as responsibility. This study aims to determine the roles, methods, supporting factors, and obstacles faced by PAI teachers in shaping the personalities of students at SMKN 01 Banyudono Boyolali. The approach used is qualitative, employing case study research methods through data collection techniques such as observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of this study conclude that PAI teachers play an essential role in the moral development of students at SMKN 1 Banyudono, primarily as educators, guides, habituators, and implementers of religious activities. Efforts made by PAI teachers to cultivate students' morals include encouraging the habit of reciting "basmallah" at the beginning of learning activities, saying "hamdallah" at the end, starting lessons by reciting Asma’ul Husna, maintaining classroom cleanliness, assigning additional tasks to memorize prayer recitations, promoting Quranic literacy, guiding and setting an example for students to perform congregational prayers, and actively participating in the execution of religious activities.

Abstract

This article explores the history and dynamics of the Dutch Muslim minority community in relation to the broader context of Islam. The introduction of Islam into the Netherlands can be traced back to various historical events and waves of migration. Initially, Arab traders played a pivotal role in introducing Islam to the region through their commercial activities. Subsequently, the Ottoman Turks contributed to the spread of Islam in the Netherlands, particularly during periods of trade and diplomacy. However, one of the most significant chapters in this narrative unfolded after World War II, when a new wave of immigrants sought asylum and refuge in the Netherlands. These immigrants brought with them their diverse cultural backgrounds and religious beliefs, including Islam. This era marked a transformative period in Dutch society, shaping its multicultural landscape and religious composition. It's noteworthy that the Netherlands is recognized as one of the most secular countries in Europe. This secular ethos is enshrined in the country's governance and policies, which prioritize individual freedom of religion and belief. Unlike some other nations, the Dutch state upholds the principle of religious freedom, allowing its citizens to choose their faith without coercion or compulsion. In conducting this study, the literature research method was employed. This approach involves a comprehensive review and analysis of various scholarly works, publications, and primary sources available in libraries. The researcher leverages a wide array of resources, such as books, academic journals, newspapers, and archival materials, to gain insights into the historical context and contemporary dynamics of Islam and its practitioners within the Dutch context.

Abstract

The spiritual experience experienced by converts in performing Umrah is certainly different from the spiritual experience experienced by Muslims who were born and raised in an Islamic environment. The spiritual experience of converts is more complex and dynamic, because it is influenced by various factors, such as background, motivation, expectations, and the challenges they face. This spiritual experience was studied using a phenomenological approach. The subjects of this study were 5 converts who had performed Umrah in the MKB community. The method and data collection tools in this research are interviews. And for the results of interviews and observations described in descriptive form. According to the results of data analysis that has been carried out in the results and discussion, the author can draw conclusions, namely: Converts who perform Umrah have aspects of spiritual experience described by William James, namely aspects of ineffability expressed through feelings of amazement and difficult to explain by words when arriving at the Kabah area and kissing Hajar Aswad, aspects of noetic quality expressed through feelings such as there are supernatural worshipers who help to kiss Hajar Aswad, The transiency aspect is expressed through feelings of anxiety and suddenly crying when reminded of the sins that have been committed, and the passivity aspect is expressed through focusing only on Allah SWT by dhikr and asking for forgiveness.

Abstract

The arrival of Islam in the archipelago is currently still being debated, due to the lack of reliable scientific data and evidence, as well as the one-sided attitude of various theories. It is very possible that these theories prioritize one aspect while ignoring others. As a result, most of the existing theories cannot explain how Muslimization occurred and how Islam entered the archipelago. This research uses Library Research which focuses on history. The aim of this paper is to investigate the theories that support the spread of Islam in the archipelago. The four theories discussed today show how Islam entered the archipelago. There are several advantages and disadvantages to each of these theories, and one thing that is certain from all of these theories is that Islam developed in the archipelago peacefully, unlike Christianity which had a goal.

Abstract

The significant presence of jawari owned by the caliphs of Islam became a phenomenon during the early period (170 AH/ 786 AD-247 AH/861 AD) of Abbasid rule. This article aims to examine why the early Abbasid rulers (786-861 AD) "kept" many jawari in their palaces and whether they had relations with all of them. Through a historical and sociological approach, the findings of this study indicate that the large number of jawari owned by the Abbasid caliphs during the early period was closely related to the advancements (economic, social, and political) achieved by the Abbasids at that time; the acceptance of slavery in Islam, territorial expansion (futuhat), the growth of economic trade sectors, the flourishing of entertainment in society, and the influence of Ctesiphon. Furthermore, the ownership of a large number of jawari did not necessarily indicate strong sexual desires of the caliphs; rather, it primarily served as a symbol of power, as evidenced by the fact that only individuals with significant authority typically possessed numerous jawari. This was also supported by a strong tradition of rewarding enslaved individuals as gifts, and the fact that not all Jariyah were intimate with their masters.

Abstract

This article describes the early movements of Sufism or Sufism in Islamic history. By using the historical method, this article explains the origins of Sufism, both from the teachings, sources, first figures and early developments in the history of early Sufism. The focus of this article is the early development of Sufism in two different areas, namely Baghdad and Khurasan. Each region gave birth to different figures, styles of thought and teachings of early Sufism. In general, the Baghdad school is famous for its "conscious" teachings, which are different from the Khurasan school, which is known for being "drunk" or "unconscious". Historically Sufism was born as an individual movement that was born to respond to the complex political situation of Muslims after the death of the Prophet Muhammad. Initially this movement was individual before eventually developing into a group movement or forming schools with different styles of teachings

Abstract

A learning model is an approach to change learners' behavior adaptively or generatively, which is strongly related to learners' learning styles and teachers' teaching styles. One prominent learning model is Project-Based Learning (project based learning), where students actively participate in real projects to solve real-world problems independently. This research focuses on the implementation of project based learning in Islamic Religious Education (PAI), which aims to develop learners' religious values and character. This research uses a phenomenological approach to describe the situation in the field and understand individual experiences in the context of everyday life. Through direct data collection in the field, this study reveals how project based learning in Islamic Education affects the development of students' social skills, creativity, and concept understanding. The results show that project based learning not only improves students' academic understanding, but also builds inclusive character and effective communication skills in group collaboration. In conclusion, project based learning in Islamic Religious Education  makes a positive contribution to education by combining religious values with project-based learning. By going in-depth, this study hopes to provide useful insights for future educational development, particularly in the context of relevant and empowering religious teaching.
