Abstract

This study aims to analyze the concept of integration between aqidah (Islamic creed) and business economics in the context of modern life. Specifically, this research seeks to explore how the principles of aqidah in Islam can be applied in business economic practices and their role in shaping a just, sustainable, and blessed economic system. Additionally, this study identifies the challenges faced by Muslims in maintaining aqidah values amidst the rapid development of the global economy and the dominance of conventional economic systems. The method used in this research is a literature study with a descriptive analysis approach. The primary sources used are scientific journals and prominent books discussing the integration of aqidah and business economics in Islam. The results show that although aqidah plays a very important role in forming the ethical foundation and business principles in Islam, the implementation of integration between aqidah and economics still faces many challenges. The main obstacles found are the lack of understanding among Muslims regarding the basic concepts of aqidah-based economics and difficulties in applying sharia principles in modern business practices.

Abstract

This article examines the concept of values according to Hamka (1908-1981), a prominent Islamic scholar, litterateur, and philosopher in Indonesia. Drawing from his intellectual legacy, this study explores the definition of values, their sources, hierarchy, and their application in contemporary Indonesian society. Hamka emphasizes the primacy of religious, moral, and ethical values as the foundation for human conduct and character formation. The analysis reveals that while Hamka's teachings remain highly relevant to Indonesia's current socio-religious context particularly regarding moderation, integrity, work ethics, and nationalism significant challenges impede their practical implementation. These obstacles include pervasive individualism, consumerist behavior, the erosion of religious and moral values, the influence of foreign cultural paradigms, and the scarcity of exemplary figures. This study argues that revitalizing Hamka's philosophical framework is essential for constructing a more dignified and prosperous Indonesian society. Through critical examination of both the enduring relevance and contemporary obstacles, this article contributes to the broader discourse on value systems in Islamic-majority societies navigating modernization.

Abstract

This study examines human nature from two complementary perspectives: philosophy and religion. Philosophy views humans as rational, moral, and existential beings capable of critical thinking and self-reflection. Religion, on the other hand, perceives humans as God's creation with spiritual dimensions and divine purposes. While these perspectives differ in their epistemological approaches philosophy relying on reason and religion on revelation they share common ground in recognizing human dignity, moral responsibility, and the search for meaning. This research explores the convergence and divergence between philosophical and religious understandings of humanity, demonstrating how both can be integrated to form a comprehensive view of human existence.
