Abstract

The aims of this research are intended to examine the effect ofARIAS learning model toward the increase of student’smathematical understanding ability. The research utilizednonequivalent pre-test and post control group design. Thepopulation of this research are students ofFITK UINSU Medan. Asconcern, the sample comprised of 32 students in ARIAS class(experiment group) and 33 students in conventional class (controlgroup). The research problem are to improve mathematicalunderstanding ability. The quantitative analysis is usedindependent sample t-test, Mann-Whitney test, while qualitativeanalysis is used descriptive one. The result shows better increasingmathematical understanding ability by using ARIAS learningmodel than by using conventional teaching.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to examine: (1) How the validity ofteaching subject which developed by scientific approaching that used toimproves the sability critical thinking mathematically of student, (2) Howthe effectiveness of teaching subject which this developed by scientificapproaching that used to improved the abiliity critical thinkingmathematically of student and (3) How the improvement of the abilitycritical thinking mathematically of student by using teaching subjectwhich developed by approaaching scientific. Teacing subject is A book,RPP and LKS instrument test result. Population in this research is all ofstudent class X SMA Negeri 1 Bandar Pulau which is totally there are141 studdents. Taking samples from 2 class room which totally there are71 students. This research equal to research improvement use exampleThiagarajan, Semmel and Semmel are modified by 4D model. There are 4step for development processing: define, design, develop anddisseminate. Data analisist result have gotten shoeing that teachingsubject with approaching scientific at trigonometri clas X SMA Negeri 1Bandar Pulau are valid and effctive.

Abstract

This research is aimed to know: (1) The kind of error students doinsloving The Material of Reading Exercise of Himpunan based onNewman Procedure in class VII of SMP Swasta Al-Washliyah 8Medan, (2) The causes of the students error insolving The Materialof Reading Exercise of Himpunan based on Newman Procedure inclass VII of SMP Swasta Al-Washliyah 8 Medan.This research isqualitative research. The subject of the research is the students ofseven grade SMP Swasta Al-Washliyah 8 Medan Academic Year2017/2018. The choice of this research subject is by taken 6 of 34for students of VII-1 class, each consist of 2 higher level group, 2medium level group, and 2 lower level group. This grouping isbased on the ranks of the student. Then, are chosen 2 studentswiththe lowest correct answer on each group. Data collection procedureon this research use the method of the test and interviewing. Everysubject research was interviewed of their work result on Materialof Reading Exercises of Himpunan. Data analysis of this researchuse Miles and Huberman Model consist of data reduction, datapresentation, and conclusion. The validity test of the data in thisstudy was carried out by Triangulation Technique.The resultsshowed that students made mistake in the type of ComprehensionError, Transformation Error, and Process Skill Error. This error canbe seen from the following percentage: Comprehension Erroroccurs as much as 14,71%, Transformation Error occurs as muchas 43,38% (this error is the most mistakes made by students), andProcess Skill occurs as much as 1,47%. The cause of the error isnot being able to change it into the symbol of Himpunan. They arenot used to write the questions, unable to plan a solution for theproblem, wrong in determining the right formula for the questiongiven, not realize their mistakes in the count of operationsperformed, and can not count operations correctly.

Abstract

Based on preliminary study, it is known that the students of class XIPA 1 MAN 2 Banyuwangi have problems in the learning process ofmathematics. Therefore, teachers need to seek solutions. Theteacher's efforts include applying cooperative learning model ofGroup investigation type. This study aims to determine: 1) Increasedmotivation and learning activities of mathematics throughcooperative learning model type of gruop investigation on studentsclass X IPA 1 MAN 2 Banyuwangi. 2) improving mathematicslearning outcomes through cooperative learning model type of gruopinvestigation on students class X IPA 1 MAN 2 Banyuwangi. Thisresearch is a classroom action research conducted on the subject ofMathematics. Subjects in the meticulous are students of Class X IPA1 MAN 2 Banyuwangi academic year 2017/2018. The researchprocedure consists of two cycles for 4 meetings. Each cycle iscarried out with activities: Planning, Action Implementation,Observation, Evaluation, Reflection. Analytical technique that willbe used is descriptive technique. The results showed: 1) there is anincrease in motivation and learning activities of mathematicsthrough cooperative learning model type of gruop investigation instudents of class X IPA 1 MAN 2 Banyuwangi. 2) there isimprovement of mathematics learning outcomes through cooperativelearning model type of gruop investigation in students of class XIPA 1 MAN 2 Banyuwangi.

Abstract

This research purpose to determine the ability of studentscompleting the form arithmetic word problem. This researchwas conducted to analyze test results to students 6th gradeelementary school 067774 Medan. The sample selection isdone randomly. The data were analyzed using qualitatifmethod. Wherever in neared is using content analysis.Content analysis is intended to describe the ability of studentsin solving problems in the form of verbal arithmetic.Theresult showed that : the identification of the student answersin solving arithmetic word problem from the aspect ofstudents ability to understand the context of language orverbal problem, compile the relevant models, and drawconclusions contextually still very low. After you know howthe student’s ability to solve arithmetic word problem form ofthe fourth aspect of the student’s ability is still low, isexpected to allow the reader to take action to minimizemistakes by students while solving the problems of verbalarithmetic shaped so that ability can be improved.

Abstract

Research this aim for find out: is there is influence positive betweenapproach CTL learning against results learn student class VII MTsSTaman Pendidikan Islam (TPI) Sawit Seberang Year 2017/2018lesson. Research this is research quantitative. Population researchthis is all over student class VII Taman Pendidikan Islam (TPI)Sawit Seberang the numbering 184 students. Sample in research thisis number VII-1 number 40 students as class experiment and classVII-2 numbered 40 students as class control. Findings in researchthis show: there is influence approach CTL learning against resultslearn mathematics student class VII MTsS Taman Pendidikan Islam(TPI) Sawit Seberang. This based on calculation: (1) Score resultslearn classes taught strategy CTL learning obtain 3425 and anaverage of 85.63 while classes taught strategy learning conventionalobtained 3185 and an average of 79.63 (2) statistics test t obtainednumber amounting to 2,564 while t- table amounting to 1,9908. Withthereby means there is a positive effect between strategy CTLlearning to results learn student mathematics.

Abstract

This study entitled The Effect of Anxiety on Students' MathematicsLearning Achievement in SMP Negeri 28 Medan. In this study,anxiety as an independent variable and mathematics learningachievement as the dependent variable. Anxiety when learningmathematics possessed by students tends to be influenced by theimage of mathematics lessons that are already known to befrightening. This is because students recognize mathematicssubjects are difficult and complicated subjects, so that it triggersfear of students to learn mathematics and cause anxiety when facedwith mathematics. Based on the theory, there are many factors thatinfluence students' mathematics learning achievement. In thisstudy, researchers took the anxiety factor above. This research tookplace at SMP Negeri 28 Medan, which was located at Jl. KaryaBersama No. 17 Medan Johor. The research method used in thisstudy is a quantitative method with a sample of all eighth gradestudents totaling 273 students and divided into 8 (eight) studygroups. Data taken in the form of questionnaires and analyzedusing simple linear regression analysis. Data analysis wasperformed using SPSS 21 software for Windows. From the resultsof this study, it was concluded that there was no effect of anxietyon students' mathematics learning achievement. Or in other words,students' mathematics learning achievements are not at all affectedby the students' anxiety in facing exams, especially in mathematics.

Abstract

Creative thinking is required by the students as future supplies.However, the reality is very few teachers found creativemathematics, thus making the students find it difficult to applymathematics in everyday life. One model of learning thatencourage students to creative thinking is Project Based Learning(PjBL). Project based learning is a learning model through a set ofspecific projects. Project based learning model is a model oflearning that starts from the provision of challenging questionsabout a phenomenon, then assign students to do an activity,focusing on the collection and use of evidence, not just deliveringinformation directly and the emphasis on rote learning processesused in order to more meaningful. Based on the research results of28 students in the class V-A MIS Nurul Falaq Tanjung Morawa onthe application FPB and KPK by analyzing indicators of creativethinking abilities are problem sensitivity, fluency, flexibility,originality, and elaboration. The average of prolem sensitivityindicator is 4,0 with very exelent category. The average of fluencyindicator is 3,8 with exelent category. The average of flexibilityindicator is 4,0 with very exelent category. The average oforiginality indicator is 2,0 with dissapointed category. The averageof elaboration indicator is 4,0 with category very excellent. It canbe concluded that: the model of project-based learning can be usedas a learning model to analiyzed mathematical creative thinkingabilities of students.

Abstract

Problem solving must be developed and internalized in mathematicslearning, so students have problem solving skills that students cantransfer to their daily lives when facing problems or difficulties.There is a mental attitude that affects a person's success to become asuccessful problem solver, namely adversity quotient. This mentalattitude affects the mindset and emotions so it is not easy to give upin solving problems. This study aims to measure the relationshipbetween adversity quotient and problem solving abilities of juniorhigh school students in mathematics learning. This research is acorrelation study. The population was students of SMPN 1 PadangPanjang 2014/2015 academic year, while 32 samples were selectedby purposive sampling. The data was collected using an adversityquotient scale and a mathematical problem solving ability test. Datawere analyzed by regression correlation techniques. The results ofdata analysis showed a correlation coefficient between adversityquotient variables with mathematical problem solving abilities of r =0.756> rtable (0.297), meaning that there was a significant positiverelationship between adversity quotient and mathematical problemsolving abilities. The coefficient of determination obtained is r2 =0.572 indicating that adversity quotient has an effect of 57.2% onmathematical problem solving abilities of junior high schoolstudents, while 42.8% is influenced by other factors
