Abstract

Maternal burnout has become a growing concern as mothers face increasing pressures in caregiving roles. High social expectations often trigger physical, emotional, and psychological exhaustion, which may reduce parenting quality and affect child development. This study aims to analyze the levels and contributing factors of maternal burnout among mothers with young children. The study employed a quantitative approach using a survey design. The participants consisted of 338 mothers from diverse ethnic backgrounds, occupations, and marital statuses. Data were collected through an online questionnaire using the Parental Burnout Assessment (PBA) instrument, which includes four dimensions: exhaustion, contrast with previous parental self, feelings of being fed up with parenting, and emotional distancing from children. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistical analysis to identify patterns of burnout experienced by the participants. The findings indicate that many mothers experience varying levels of burnout in their caregiving roles, particularly in the dimensions of emotional exhaustion and contrast with their previous parental self. Factors such as employment status, number of children, social support from partners or family members, and cultural expectations contribute to the level of burnout experienced. The study concludes that strengthening social support systems and promoting a more balanced distribution of caregiving responsibilities within families are essential for reducing the risk of maternal burnout. These findings imply the importance of increasing family and societal awareness of mothers’ psychological well-being in supporting effective parenting and healthy child development.

Abstract

Speech delay in early childhood requires proper intervention and guidance through access to health services and active parental involvement in language development stimulation. However, limited access to healthcare services, distance, time constraints, and the busy schedules of working millennial parents often become barriers to obtaining direct consultation and assistance. Therefore, the use of health technology such as telemedicine has emerged as an alternative solution to support the management of children with speech delay. This study aims to analyze the implementation of telemedicine, explore the challenges in its application, and identify the advantages and limitations of its use for millennial parents who have children with speech delay. This research employed a qualitative approach using a case study method. The research subjects consisted of three millennial parents who have children aged 4–5 years experiencing speech delay. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted using the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results show that the implementation of telemedicine facilitates parents in accessing consultation services related to speech delay management, particularly in terms of time, distance, and cost efficiency. These findings indicate that telemedicine has the potential to become an innovative strategy to support early intervention services and strengthen parental involvement in supporting children’s language development.

Abstract

Motor development is an essential aspect of early childhood education because it supports children’s learning readiness as well as their overall physical, cognitive, and social development. However, in many early childhood learning practices, motor stimulation has not been optimally implemented, as instructional activities tend to focus more on academic achievement. This condition highlights the need for learning models that are capable of integrating learning activities with active motor stimulation. This study aims to analyze the effect of the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model on early childhood motor development. The study employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design, involving children aged 5–6 years who were divided into an experimental group and a control group. Data were collected using a motor development checklist instrument that included indicators of both fine and gross motor skills. Data analysis was conducted through statistical prerequisite tests and an independent sample t-test to examine the effect of the implemented learning model. The results indicate that children’s motor development in the group that participated in learning using the Project-Based Learning model was higher than that of children who participated in conventional learning. Improvements in motor skills were reflected in children’s involvement in various project activities that required movement coordination and the active use of tools. These findings suggest that the Project-Based Learning model is effective in stimulating early childhood motor development and can serve as an alternative instructional strategy to support holistic child development.

Abstract

Sexual violence in early childhood was a disturbing phenomenon that needed to be addressed. Although quite a few studies had examined this issue, not many had employed the teacher’s perspective phenomenologically. Therefore, this study aimed to analyze the obstacles and solutions proposed by teachers in teaching the concept of sexual literacy to young children. The research design used was phenomenology. A total of 18 teachers (with 8 months to 30 years of teaching experience, all women aged 20–51 years) participated in the study. The teachers’ sexual literacy perception questionnaire was used as the instrument. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings revealed that topics such as gender identity and the boundaries of body parts that could and could not be touched by others were considered essential to be taught. The main obstacles encountered included the lack of visual aids appropriate for children’s developmental levels and the perception among some parents that discussing sexual literacy with young children was taboo. In conclusion, there was a limitation in the availability of visual aids for teaching sexual literacy in schools. Therefore, the implication was that early childhood education teachers should prepare instructional tools, such as sex education games, to help prevent sexual harassment against children.
