Abstract

The advent of digital transformation within supply chains heralds a new era of efficiency, innovation, and resilience. This paper explores the multifaceted impact of digital technologies—such as the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI), blockchain, and cloud computing—on supply chain management. Through a comprehensive review of current literature, we identify the challenges and opportunities presented by digital transformation, emphasizing the importance of overcoming infrastructural constraints, skill gaps, and security concerns to harness the full potential of these technologies. Furthermore, we delve into the ethical considerations and social impacts, highlighting the imperative for sustainable and responsible practices in the digital age. The paper also forecasts future directions and emerging technologies, underscoring the need for supply chains to adapt to and capitalize on these advancements for sustainable growth and competitive advantage. Our analysis concludes that while digital transformation presents significant challenges, it also offers unparalleled opportunities for supply chains to become more agile, transparent, and customer centric. Abstract

The aim of this study is to elaborate the impact of collaborative work among stakeholders in Indonesia upstream oil gas industry for create value through supply chain management by prioritizing local products. Challenges of local products are not only from qualities and quantities as per industrial demands, but also from sustainable principles that start applying by Upstream Oil Gas Industry. The implementation of sustainable principles is very important to ensure that Indonesia can fulfil the target of energy transition as mentioned on the Paris Agreement in 2015. In this moment, Indonesia oil and gas industry and supported by the Government of Indonesia already prepared the roadmap to support the energy transition by reducing emissions, applying new technology for CCU/CCUS, and emphasizing the crucial role of the supply chain sustainability. As part of supply chain management (SCM) sustainability principles, the government and industry need to prepare the local companies to support the energy transition target. The landscape of the Indonesian petroleum industry, focusing on specific regulations for local content improvement and their alignment with supply chain sustainability in the energy transition era. Indonesian oil and gas companies operate under Production Sharing Contracts (PSC) with the government. The PSC has agreed to target local content with the government during exploration and operation. To achieve this, local companies must enhance their capabilities through research and development (RD) to remain competitive and support decarbonization strategies without compromising local content and emissions reduction initiatives. This paper discusses, according to the research, local companies have limitations to get access of new technologies that will be implemented during energy transition era. Therefore, collaborative work among Government and Industries is required to ensure local companies can be ready by the time the energy transition begins. Overcoming the challenge and limitation, this paper belief that collaboration among Government, Oil Gas Company, Supporting Industries (Vendor), Financial and Education Institution in Indonesia during the energy transition has pivotal role. By fostering collaboration, embracing sustainability principles, and investing in research and development, stakeholders can create a thriving ecosystem that supports local economic growth and environmental stewardship. Successful development programs through collaboration are ultimately expected to enhance job creation for Indonesian citizens, addressing the needs of the country with large population like Indonesia.

Abstract

Supply chains are frequently exposed to disruptions, which can be either positive, driven by technological advancements, or negative, caused by natural and man-made disasters. This study aims to explore the possibilities and implications of building supply chain resilience through AI-driven AR/VR simulations. In light of the disruptions experienced during the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been a growing interest among both researchers and practitioners in the role of digital technologies in enhancing end-to-end visibility within supply chains and their potential for boosting resilience.The study provides insights into how leveraging the dynamic capabilities of supply chains through AI technology can strengthen resilience. It offers a forward-looking perspective on how emerging technologies will shape modern supply chains and play a crucial role in improving their resilience. The article underscores the transformative potential of AI, highlighting its ability to equip supply chains to better withstand disruptions and mitigate associated risks.

Abstract

Modern perspective of consumer satisfaction has changed due to the proliferation of online businesses. E-commerce has opened up a whole new world to the consumers. The consumers can now get what they want, when they want, delivered at their doorstep. While the ease of online shopping has increased consumerism and consumer demand, it poses significant challenges for the e-commerce players as the consumers are seldom willing to shell out money for availing the convenience of doorstep deliveries. Under such circumstances, the e-commerce players are left with little choices but to significantly enhance their supply chain efficiencies through the improvement of logistics and the delivery services they offer to their customers. Artificial Intelligence or AI, as it is popularly known, is altering the ways and means of these e-commerce businesses. It is changing the manner in which supply chains are managed. Through the use of smart algorithms, data analysis, and automation, it is possible for businesses to employ AI effectively for the optimization of their supply chain management involving inventory and logistics management, demand forecasting, and customer service. This article focuses on logistics management and the application of AI to optimize costs and efficiency in first mile, middle mile and last mile delivery.

In an ever-evolving world, innovation has become the pivot for sustained economic growth and development across nations. In the modern interconnected global village, e-commerce acts as a powerful catalyst for international trade creating the opportunity for small and mid-sized enterprises to enter the global arena with their goods and services, thus fueling economic growth and prosperity. Massive growth and penetration of the internet, mobile communication and digital technologies allow businesses to tap global markets much more easily than before while spoiling the consumers for choice. Abstract

This paper explores the issue of MA as it pertains to Supply chain elements such as Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), the role of technology, and supply chain efficiency. By exploring the issue further, the research seeks to assess the recent trend of increased mergers and acquisitions (MA) and how the activities affect the supply chain management (SCM) role. The results are important in understanding current trends in SCM when it comes to mergers and acquisitions. The discussion covered the role that COVID-19 played in increased trends in MA and technology's role in MA activities and success. The ultimate goal is to understand how technology and COVID-19 impact MA activities and how, in turn, the supply chain management role gets affected.

Abstract

This paper examines the contrasting supply chain policies of the Trump and Biden-Harris administrations, emphasizing the implications of their strategies amid the complexities of global economic dynamics. Trump’s "America First" approach prioritized domestic manufacturing through tariffs and trade barriers, attempting to reduce dependence on foreign suppliers, particularly from China. However, these measures led to increased consumer costs, strained international relations, and highlighted vulnerabilities in critical supply chains during the COVID-19 pandemic. In contrast, the Biden-Harris administration advocates for a resilient, sustainable, and cooperative supply chain framework, focusing on global alliances, significant infrastructure investments, and technological advancements. This administration's emphasis on sustainability aligns with growing consumer demand for environmentally friendly practices, whereas innovation plays a crucial role in adapting to ongoing global challenges.The study explores the lessons learned from the contrasting approaches regarding resilience, sustainability, and geopolitical considerations, emphasizing the need for the U.S. to adapt its supply chain strategies to navigate future uncertainties more effectively. Ultimately, the essay underscores the importance of innovation, collaboration, and sustainability in shaping robust supply chains that not only respond to immediate challenges but also secure long-term economic prosperity and national security in an increasingly interconnected world.

Abstract

Ecommerce is an inseparable part of modern global lifestyle, connecting people across international borders and enabling sellers to access global. Despite growing massively over the last couple of decades, its growth is far from over. In fact, the pandemic has acted as an accelerator and the growth momentum is continuing despite people returning to the conventional brick and mortar shops. Ecommerce innovations are constantly being rehashed and improved – especially after the global pandemic this transition is now innovating at a much faster pace. For responding to the ever-increasing demand for swifter yet efficient fulfillment of customer order along with timely shipment, a larger number of e- commerce businesses are turning towards third-party logistics or 3PL providers. While it offers them the freedom from the hassles of storing and delivering finished products to the end-users, the human resource that is therefore freed, can then focus on core competencies of the business thus allowing them to give attention to product development, innovation along with marketing and sales. There is always the risk of poor fulfillment and delayed shipments or goods getting damaged in transit which deteriorates customer satisfaction and company profitability. This article compares the use of third-party logistics (3PL) against building in-house capabilities and highlights the virtue of careful selection and employment of experienced 3PL in helping an enterprise ride the anticipated growth wave by offering cost advantages and flexibility.

Abstract

The E-commerce landscape has seen a paradigm shift with an increasing demand for door- step delivery and even same day delivery. The convenience of shopping over a handheld mobile devise from the convenience of one’s preferred location is a major driver for the phenomenon growth, development, and expansion of online shopping. The COVID pandemic led lockdowns acted as catalysts expediting this expansion. But with this progress came the menace of rapid expansion of delivery trucks, vans, 3-wheelers, and 2-wheelers that increased not only the congestions within the cities but also added massively to the already deteriorating air quality. Pollution (both air and noise) and congestion, are the two immediate fallouts of the expansion in delivery fleet. This made the fleet owners and businesses turn to the obvious alternative – EVs or electrical vehicles that have the potential to not only cut down harmful emissions but also enhance financial and operational efficiencies. Modern businesses cannot help but improve efficiencies in order to sustain in an immensely competitive and dynamic business environment. This article adds to the literature on EVs and generates insight into the practicability of adopting EVs in the last mile logistics. It highlights that despite being both environment and pocket friendly, the benefits of economy and efficiency looks futile in the face of inadequate availability of charging infrastructure that heightens range anxiety.

Abstract

In Bangladesh, a persistent mismatch exists between the skills fresh graduates possess and the competencies demanded by employers. This gap affects graduate employability and hampers economic growth. This article explores how key components— Program Curriculum Development (PCD), Instructor Portfolio Management (IPM), University Culture and Networking Platform (UCN), and University Facilities (UF)—can collectively address this issue. By integrating these elements into the educational supply chain, universities can produce skilled graduates who are better equipped to meet industry needs. The proposed framework offers a comprehensive approach to align academic outputs with labor market demands. The study highlights the importance of adapting curricula, engaging industry professionals in teaching, fostering strong university-industry connections, and investing in modern facilities to close the skills gap. This holistic approach ensures that graduates are employable, contributing to national development and societal betterment. The article concludes by emphasizing the need for further research on technological advancements and policy reforms to enhance higher education in Bangladesh.
