The purpose of this study was to describe the increase in activity and learning outcomes fifth grade students of SDN 28 Jorong Nan Tigo Pesisir Selatan District, using the model Project Based Learning. This type of research is classroom action research (PTK). This study was conducted in two cycles. The data source is a fifth grade students of SDN 28 Jorong Nan Tigo Pesisir Selatan District amounted to 18 people. The instrument used is the observation sheet student activities, teacher observation sheet activities and achievement test. Based on the analysis of activities and student learning outcomes, student activity observation Score average first cycle of 58.32%, an increase in cycle II became 78.88% and student learning outcomes in the first cycle with an average of 61.11% completeness increased in the second cycle amounting to 78.05%. It can be said, learning science by using Project Based Learning model of increasing the activity and student learning outcomes. Abstract

Learning competencies of 5th grade elementary school students in integrated thematic learning are still relatively low. This happens because the use of learning models still does not match the material and character of students. One effort that can be done to overcome this problem is by implementing a guided inquiry model and the Problem Based Learning model in the learning process. This type of research is a quasi experiment with a preetest-posttest only control group design. Data were analyzed using t test. From the results of the analysis obtained: (1) there is effectiveness in the use of Guided Inquiry models to improve learning competency aspects of knowledge, because tcount is 20.5649> table 1.7011 (2) there is effectiveness in using Problem Based Learning learning models to improve tcounting learning competency of 8.5467> ttable 1.6991 (3) there is no difference in effectiveness between Guided Inquiry and Problem Based Learning learning models to improve learning competency aspects of knowledge tcount of 0.2764> t table 1.6725.

Abstract

This type of research is class action, with the subject of fourth grade elementary school students. The study was conducted in the even semester of the 2015/2016 academic year, the research instrument used was the effectiveness of communicating student sheets, learning outcome assessment sheets on the cognitive aspects of students at the level of knowledge and understanding. Based on the results of the study, the communication effectiveness of students in the first cycle obtained an average value of 49.99% increase in the second cycle to 67.45%, the communication effectiveness of students in the first cycle obtained an average value of 53.96% increasing in the second cycle to 71 , 42%. While student learning outcomes at the cognitive level of knowledge in the first cycle increased in the second cycle 68.33 to 80.47, cognitive learning outcomes at the level of understanding in the first cycle increased in the second cycle 58.09 to 71.42. It can be concluded that the Open Ended model can increase the effectiveness of communication and student learning outcomes in fourth grade science learning in elementary school.
