Abstract

The quantitative trait is a trait controlled by many genes and the differences between the phenotypes are not very clear and additive. The purpose of this study was to determine the characteristics of quantitative traits and maintenance management of Cemani chickens in the Makukuhan Mandiri farmers. The study was conducted in Temanggung Regency, using a purposive sampling method. The selected farmer were 13 respondents with the criteria of an experienced farmer, having good data, and track records in maintaining Cemani chickens. Primary data is obtained through direct observation and measurement in the field. Secondary data were collected by interview and questionnaire. Observed variables were respondent characteristics, population, management data, and quantitative characteristics. The data obtained were analyzed by calculating the mean value, standard deviation, and coefficient of variation. The results of quantitative trait measurements show that Cemani chicken is still pure. The Cemani chicken population based on age is very good, where there are more chicks compared to adult chicken. Meanwhile, the adult male and female ratio is 1: 5.38. Maintenance is carried out intensively. The Cemani chicken starter period is placed in the brooder cage. Grower period cages are 120 x 60 cm2 battery cages for 2-3 heads and the production period was in the form of a confined plot with a 6 x 4 m2 display containing 1 ♂ : 5 ♀. It can be concluded, the based on the quantitative trait of Cemani chickens in the Makukuhan Mandiri farmer shows the purity of Cemani chickens with a maintenance pattern using a ratio of 1 ♂ : 5 ♀.

Abstract

Rice, corn and soybeans are plants as a source of food and feed in Indonesia. Consumption of food crops (rice, corn and soybeans) has increased every year along with the population and livestock. One alternative to meet the needs of staple food and feed is the corn-rice and corn-soybean intercropping system. The aim of the study was to verify the corn-rice and corn-soybean intercropping model for optimizing production and knowing the spacing of corn, rice, soybeans on the same land and season and the comparison of the number of rows of corn in the intercropping of corn-rice, corn and soybeans with optimal corn production. Intercropping is a cropping system by planting more than one type of plant/commodity at the same time or at a certain time in one growing season. The research was carried out in KP. Bajeng Gowa from August to November 2019. The study used a factorial randomized block design with 3 (three) replications. The first factor is 1) the first planting distance of corn-rice-soybean is (maize (160 x 40) x 20 cm (3 rows of plants), upland rice 20 cm x 20 cm (5 seeds/hole, 4 rows of plants), soybean 40 cm x 20 cm (2 seeds/hole 3 rows of plants) and the distance of corn from rice and soybeans is 40 cm, 2) the second planting distance of corn-rice-soybean (Dena 1) is corn (160 x 40) x 20 cm ( 1 seed/hole, 4 rows of plants), upland rice 20 cm x 20 cm (5 seeds/hole, 4 rows of plants), soybean 40 cm x 20 cm (2 seeds/hole, 3 rows of plants) and distance of corn from rice and soybeans 40 cm. The second factor is the corn varieties, namely Nasa-29, JH 45, JH 27, and Bisi 18. For rice and soybeans, plant them at the same time as 10-15 before planting corn. The results showed that the productivity of maize (6.92-8.46 t/ha) intercropped with soybeans was higher than maize (5.12-5.24 t/ha) intercropped with rice at a spacing of maize (120-40) x 20 cm (3 rows of maize) and maize productivity (7.05 – 8.59 t/ha) intercropped with rice were higher than maize (6.43-7.72 t/ha) intercropped with soybeans at a spacing of maize (120-40 ) x 20 cm (3 rows of corn).

Abstract

This study aims to determine the potential of mangosteen peel extract (Garcia Mangostana L) as an egg preservative to improve the physical quality of broiler eggs soaked for 6 weeks. This study used 105 chicken eggs, soaked for 24 hours and stored for 6 weeks. Methods Using Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 3 replications. The parameters taken are egg white index value, egg yolk index value, egg yolk color, pH value of egg white and yolk. The results showed that mangosteen peel extract had a significant effect (P<0.01) on the egg white index with values ​​of 0.152, 0.89, 0.81, 0.83, 0.80, 0.56, 0.29. The yolk index value had a significant effect (P<0.01) of 0.41, 0.34, 0.32, 0.28, 0.22, 0.14, 0.09. The yolk color value had a significant effect (P<0.01) of 13.00, 12.67, 12.33, 1175, 11.08, 9.17, 8.08. The pH value of egg white had a significant effect (P<0.01) of 7.79, 7.95, 8.11, 8.57, 8.91, 9.47, 9.78. The egg yolk pH value had a significant effect (P<0.01) of 6.20, 6.27, 6.46, 6.56, 6.65, 6.75, 6.82. The Haugh unit egg had a significant effect (P<0.01) of 115.6, 98.5, 93.6, 94.8, 94.3, 83.7, 69.8. The addition of the concentration of mangosteen rind extract up to 10% can maintain egg quality, in terms of the index value of egg white, egg yolk, egg pH, egg yolk color and Haugh Unit value.

Abstract

The aim of the study was to determine the effect of the addition of sucrose at different levels on the quality of Ettawa crossbreed (PE) goat milk powder. The research was conducted at the Integrated Animal Husbandry Laboratory, University of Muhammmadiyah Purworejo and the Che-mix Laboratory Yogyakarta. The treatment given was sucrose with levels of 0% (SB0), 10% (SB1), 20% (SB2), 30% (SB3) and 40% (SB4). The method used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 20 panelists as replicates. The parameters taken were water content, protein content, fat content, total sugar content and organoleptic tests which included color, taste, aroma and texture. The results showed that the addition of sucrose had an effect on decreasing the water content, protein content, fat content and increasing the total sugar content of powdered milk. The results of the anova analysis of the organoleptic test showed that the addition of sucrose had a significant effect (P<0.05) on the quality of color, taste, aroma and texture of powdered milk. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the addition of 0% to 40% sucrose level significantly affected the decrease in water, protein, fat content and increased total sugar content. The organoleptic test with the best treatment was SB1.

Abstract

Fluctuations in production and prices are a problem faced by farmers in the red chili farming, so that it has an impact on the level of farm income obtained. This study aims to analyze the efficiency of marketing of red chili in Watangpulu District, Sidrap Regency. The number of samples or respondent farmers is determined by census, that is, the entire population in the research location is used as a sample or research respondent, while the red pepper respondent traders are determined using the snowball sampling method or following the marketing channel / chain formed based on instructions from the red chili farmers. The research data was taken in May-July 2018. Data analysis used was descriptive qualitative and quantitative. Marketing efficiency is analyzed using market structure, market behavior, and market performance. The results showed that the EP value was 4.87%, so the commodity farming business was very efficient to be undertaken.

Abstract

An extender is added to sausage ingredients to increase the density or modify the quality of the sausage. The main ingredients of this research are beef and tofu. This study was conducted using a completely randomized design method (CRD) with 4 treatments and a panel as a treatment replication. The data obtained were analyzed by Analysis Of Variance (ANOVA), followed by Duncan's New Multiple Rane Test (DMRT). The results of the analysis of variance in beef sausage with the use of tofu as an extender have a very significant effect on the average hedonic score and quality score on color. The average color quality score shows that it is not red, while the score is classified as very dislike. The results of the analysis of variance in beef sausage with the use of tofu as an extender have a very significant effect on the average hedonic score and quality score on the aroma. The average aroma quality score is very unscented while the hedonic aroma score indicates liking. The results of the analysis of variance in beef sausage with the use of tofu as an extender have a significant effect on the average hedonic score and quality score on texture. The mean texture score indicates chewy while the hedonic texture indicates liking. The results of the analysis of variance in beef sausage with the use of tofu as an extender have a very significant effect on the average hedonic taste score and taste quality score. The average taste quality score indicates feeling to know, while the hedonic taste score indicates liking. The conclusion of adding a different level of tofu extender shows that the addition of 10g of tofu as an extender to 490g of beef can increase the texture value of beef sausage, the addition of 30g of tofu as an extender to 470g of beef can increase the value of aroma and taste quality in beef sausage. It is suggested that the addition of 10g of tofu as an extension with 490g of beef can be used in making beef sausage.

Abstract

Seeds in the rice production system have an important role, namely as a means of production that affects productivity. Therefore, programs to fulfill the production and need for seeds always receive adequate attention. To determine the development of rice seed conditions in Central Java, an analysis of institutional development and seed production systems in Central Java was carried out. The results of the analysis show that there are four main actors in seeds that play a role in the development of the rice production system, namely (1) policy and program makers (2) research and breeders (3) seed producers and distributors (4) seed supervision and certification. The functions and duties of these institutions are different but interrelated and lead to farmers as end consumers of seed users. During the 2014 - 2018 period, seed production in Central Java was in the range of 38,250 - 38,667 tons, while the planting area for the same period was 1,804,761 - 1,991,680 ha, if the average seed requirement per hectare was 30 kg/hectare. ha, which means the need for seeds is in the range of 46,138 - 49,138 tons. In terms of rice seed production, during the 2014-2018 period there was a seed shortage of around 20 - 28%, however, there were no complaints by farmers about the shortage of seeds. One of the reasons is that rice seed is a substitute product and it is difficult to detect the distribution of seeds, so it is not possible to know with certainty the availability of seeds in Central Java. Related to this, it is time to build a rice seed information system in Central Java that can be accessed by stakeholders, the intention is to know for sure the traffic and availability of rice seeds in Central Java. If from the class of seeds produced it can be seen that 85 -94% are seed class seeds (SS), this shows that most of them use seed class seeds as seeds for consumption rice production.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the response of farmers to agricultural mechanization in rice farming and the factors that influence it. The basic method used is descriptive survey technique. Sampling of Penajam Paser (PPU) District location was determined purposively with consideration in the district, agricultural mechanization has penetrated to remote Penajam Paser Utara districts, be it transplants, hand tractors, hand tractors, R4 tractors, cultivators, power sprayers, hand sprayers, combine harvester, mobile RMU, and others. While the selection of farmers samples in Babulu and Penajam sub-district were determined by simple random sampling with a sample of 30 respondents. Data were analyzed by multiple linear regression analysis test. The results showed that most farmers have a high response to agricultural mechanization in rice farming cultivation. Factors that influence farmers' responses are the level of education, farming experience, land area, intensity of attending counseling, farmers' perceptions, and farmers' motivation. In this case the age of the farmer has no effect.
