While qualitative data were collected through interviews in order to measure students’ opinions on learning autonomy. The results of the research are that the independence of learning "self-learning" that students do outside the classroom was mostly at medium and high levels and can be described as follows: awareness at a high level of 3.67, independent effort at a medium level of 3.23, independent activity at a level of 3.00, self-confidence at a medium level of 3.42, then use of educational technology at a high level of 4.16. Students who obtain a high level benefit from educational technology. As for those who are weak in motivation, they were at a low level and did not respect themselves in learning the Arabic language.

Abstract

Arabic vocabulary learning for beginners plays a crucial role in establishing a solid foundation for mastering the Arabic language and enhancing communicative competence. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of interactive digital media in transforming Arabic vocabulary learning among beginner students. The background of this research lies in the growing need for innovative and engaging learning tools that align with the digital literacy of today's learners and can improve vocabulary retention and motivation. By integrating multimedia elements, interactive exercises, and instant feedback, digital media is considered capable of creating a more dynamic and learner-centered environment. This study uses a qualitative approach with descriptive methods, collecting data through classroom observations, interviews with teachers and students, and documentation of learning activities involving digital media. The findings reveal that interactive digital media significantly increases student engagement and motivation while enhancing vocabulary acquisition through multisensory stimulation and immediate reinforcement. Practically, this study suggests that the use of interactive digital platforms can accelerate the learning process, improve long-term vocabulary retention, and provide adaptive learning pathways for diverse learner needs. The implications highlight the potential of digital media as an effective pedagogical tool in modern Arabic language instruction, especially for beginner learners in formal educational settings.

Abstract

In the face of declining student motivation in language learning, particularly in Arabic instruction at the secondary education level, innovative curriculum models are urgently required. This study explores the implementation of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) curriculum management as a strategic response to enhance student motivation in Arabic language learning. The research aims to analyze how curriculum planning, organizing, implementation, and evaluation based on PBL principles contribute to learner engagement and active participation. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach, data were obtained through interviews, observations, and documentation at MA Ma’arif NU 1 Kemranjen. The results show that PBL-based curriculum management effectively boosts learning motivation by presenting real-life contextual problems, fostering collaborative learning environments, and applying continuous assessment that encourages student autonomy. These findings affirm that PBL not only enriches the learning process but also supports the development of critical thinking and problem-solving abilities necessary for mastering Arabic. It is concluded that structured implementation of PBL in curriculum management is a promising path to revitalize motivation and learning outcomes in Arabic education.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the steps of implementing project-based learning methods in developing students' reading skills and to measure the effectiveness of this method in improving reading comprehension among eleventh grade students. This study is based on the need for innovative methods that can improve students' literacy skills, especially in teaching Arabic at the secondary school level. The research approach uses a quantitative method with an experimental design, involving a control group and an experimental group. Data were collected through observation, interviews, questionnaires, documents, and tests, then analyzed using SPSS 25 statistical tools and a Likert scale for the questionnaire results. The results of the study showed that project-based learning was significantly effective in improving students' reading comprehension. This is indicated by the significant difference between the pre-test and post-test results in the experimental group compared to the control group. These findings are expected to be a reference for educators in implementing project-based learning strategies in various educational contexts.

Abstract

This study aims to examine Shawqi Deif's views on the renewal of Arabic grammar teaching for non-Arab speakers as outlined in his book Renewing Grammar and analyze his efforts in presenting grammar materials more effectively. The research method used is a literature review by analyzing the contents of the book Renewing Grammar and other relevant works to understand the idea of grammar renewal proposed by Shawqi Deif. The results of the study indicate that Shawqi Deif has several main views in grammar renewal, such as eliminating irrelevant discretionary and local parsing, limiting parsing to aspects that help understanding, establishing more accurate definitions and controls for certain grammatical elements, and adding relevant materials while removing elements that are considered redundant. In his book, Deif presents grammar materials systematically, covering aspects of pronunciation, verb and noun conjugation, nominative, accusative, complement cases, and additional elements such as mention, deletion, and differentiation based on context. This study is expected to provide insight into Shawqi Deif's reform approach which can be a reference for developing a more contextual and efficient Arabic grammar teaching curriculum for non-Arab learners.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation of teaching speaking skills at two Islamic institutes in Probolinggo: the Nurul Jadid Institute and the Al-Masdouqiya Institute. The objectives of this research are to analyze the methods and approaches applied to enhance students' fluency and adherence to grammatical rules in speaking Arabic. This research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive method, utilizing observation, interviews, and document analysis as data collection tools. The findings indicate that both institutes emphasize similar objectives: training students to speak Arabic fluently and accurately. At the Nurul Jadid Institute, the instructional content includes vocabulary, dialogue, scientific discussion, public speaking, storytelling, news reading, and grammar. The instructional methods applied involve memorization, direct interaction, and the oral-aural method. Instructional materials and tools include books such as Modern Dialogue, Al-Jarumiyyah, Al-Amriti, Al-Alfiyyah, and morphological examples, as well as blackboards and projectors. Evaluation consists of weekly, formative, and summative assessments conducted on a semester basis. Similarly, at the Al-Masdouqiya Institute, instructional content encompasses vocabulary, dialogue, lectures, reading, and grammar, while the methods also incorporate memorization, direct methods, and the oral-aural approach. Materials include daily vocabulary books, clear grammar and morphological examples, a blackboard, and a projector. Evaluation follows the same frequency and structure as at the Nurul Jadid Institute. The study contributes insights into the structured approaches to teaching speaking skills at Islamic institutes and highlights the instructional methods and materials that can effectively support Arabic fluency and comprehension in a structured, outcome-focused manner.
