Abstract

In its development, animation cannot be separated from prehistoric era of hundreds to thousands years ago when the paintings of cave and temple ornaments have animation principles consisting orderly stack of paintings or ornaments. At this moment, animation has become part of the era of creative industry. People and the government seem to realize that it is time for animation in Indonesia to catch up remembering the great effect  resulted from animation product. Along this time, many animation products from other countries come to the entertainment and advertisement business in Indonesia and we can do nothing for it. Consequently, people’s understanding towards local culture is getting faded and finally, more cultural assets are ‘stolen’ by other country. The culture ‘taking’, of course, is not absolutely the ‘taking’ country’s fault but it is also our fault for we don’t give response to the technological development that is able to make culture interesting. Abstract

The training in performance art workshop is held remembering that students in SMK 9 Surakarta have had the basic understanding in visual arts adequately. Students of general Senior High School (SMA) in Surakarta don’t have the aspect. This devotion is executed in the form of performance art Workshop. The technique uses a model of studying with. The model is used in order that students are able to recieve the workshop material and are hoped to be able to bring creative ideas. Key words : workshop, performance art.

Abstract

The learning condition in puppetry studio Serengan is not systematically arranged yet so it needs an improvement. The study of garap pakeliran with the teaching material given is supposed to actualize a better result by maximizing the being human resource. One aspect of pakeliran that must be fulfilled in puppet theater is catur. The method used in the study of pakeliran practice in puppetry studio Serengan is appreciation, speech, and demonstration. Based on the method used, it can be concluded that students are successfully able to  catch catur of the characters in the short pakeliran lakon Gathotkaca Sungging presented by Ki Nartasabda which has been edited by Purbo Asmoro. Garap Catur is including janturan, pocapan, and ginem of the characters: Duryudana, Baladewa, Durna, Karna, Sengkuni, Nilayaksa, Kartamarma, Jayadrata, Gathotkaca, Samba, Setyaki, Antareja, Dewapawaka, Abimanyu, Semar, Gareng, Petruk, Bagong, Pragalba, Anoman, Arjuna, Banowati, Lesmanawati, and Bhatara Guru.Key words : studio, puppetry, ginem, janturan, and pocapan.

Abstract

Choreography workshop as an education of art appreciation is held in SMAN 3 Boyolali in order that the students can get direct experience to do creative work through movement. For the reason, the participant is not limited at the students following any extracurricular activities  but also others who are interested in the workshop. Choreography workshop is supposed to give a chance for students to do creativities and to get aesthetic experience through movement activities (dance). Besides that, this workshop is also hoped to produce a positive effect in the cultivation of art feeling, creative attitude, and development of motivation in appreciating arts. The method used in this choreography workshop is the method of assignation play. The method is used because of the minimal  backgrounds of the students. It can be said that only three of the sixteen students have ever studied dance. The choreography worksgop in SMAN 3 aims to motivate the students in ordering movements (pose-pose) to be a short choreography as well as demonstrate it.Key words : workshop, choreography, education, art.

Abstract

Culture is a product of human’s creative force, creation, intention,  and sense  in order to fulfil their needs and  physically as well as mentally prosperous  life. Besides, culture represents the realization of human thinking in completing their needs for life. For the reason, culture as a human product cannot survive longer (langgeng). Wayang beber is one of human products that cannot live longer (langgeng). Besides that, wayang beber is also one of performance media and as a media of ritual performance as well.  Therefore,  it is our duty to introduce and to conserve , as well as to guard it in order that it, wayang beber, doesn’t  extinct  especially for the next generation.  That is why the writer is urged to do the development of wayang beber painting  in SMAN I Colomadu, Karanganyar so that the young generation will be able to know more  about  local culture which is so great and must be guarded.Key words : wayang beber, ritual, culture, and local

Abstract

The importance of media promotion in order to improve productivity must always be carried out continuously and controlled, the high costs required to make the promotion even in a simple form and understanding of the importance of promotion is the main obstacle why the promotion was not done by many SMEs. Photography knowledge is absolutely necessary in today’s campaign creation. With photography training facility utilizing the most pocket digital camera, expected to overcome one of the sources do not cause promotion. Through the production of artworks that portray the local culture will boost the popularity of the area, while also overcoming some problems of local government. Through a sociological approach, which is conducted directly in the field is expected to know the various problems faced by Small and Medium Enterprises.Key words :  photography, promotion, craftman.

Abstract

This article talks about creative expression of students in SMA (Senior High School) Santo Yosep Surakarta in dance training. To gain the students’ creative expressions, the writer executes the following stages: dance appreciation, dance training, and implementation of their creative expressions into dance works. The creativity development is formed by gaining the student’s creative ability through the direct guiding. The students are given a freedom and discretion in body processing and express it in a performing art. This is supposed to give an understanding of creativity basic foundation, to form a creative media, to perform the creative works, and to document audio visual in order to be  used as a reference in dance studying in Senior High School. Abstract

Devotion to Society with the program of workshop “Melukis pada Wadah Kaleng Bekas” (Drawing at the Used Cans) is supposed to gain the participants’ potency in artistic sensitivity. It also aims to make young generation more  love their culture.  In the workshop, students are leaded to create a work of cans painting with the theme of their surrounding culture such as batik, wayang characters, and so on. Devotion to Society aims to  increase the appreciation and ability in drawing at the used cans for students in SMAN 2 Surakarta. The program is executed using the method of speech and discussion as well as workshop on introducing directly to drawing method and instruments. This is supposed to make students able to draw at the cans well and make them realize about their environment hygiene.Key words : drawing, workshop.

Abstract

A studio as a media of gaining knowledge and arts training as well as practicing needs a serious care because the young generation’s attention towards traditional arts, especially puppetry , today, is decreasing. Studio Sarotama is one of the existing studios which gives dance, karawitan (Javanese traditional music), and puppetry training. Studio Sarotama has existed for about 15 years up to 2010 with about 16 up to 20 students concentrating on dance, karawitan, and puppetry. They study in yunior as well as senior high school. The studio’s  achievement needs to be increased by developing through Pengabdian Pada Masyarakat (dedication to society). This is supposed to give knowledge and/or practice in puppetry especially accompaniment. The aim will be catched by appreciation, discussion, and demonstration. Based on the method used, it can be seen that the students are able to manage materials of  sulukan, dhodhogan and keprakan in accordance to the performance. The performance that is accompanied includes the scenes of paseban jawi, continued by budhalan wadya and jaranan. Dhodhogan and keprakan are covering keprakan kiprah of puppet, dhodhogan sirep gendhing, keprakan sisiran, and gejogan. The scene of abur-aburan Gathutkaca uses sulukan, ada-ada, palaran and sisiran keprakan, dhodhogan to start accompaniment, and dhodhogan geteran for ada-ada. The scene of war includes the war of Susarma and Abilawa, Rajamala and Abilawa, the scene of perang gagal and perang kembang which mostly use keprakan for example: gejogan, sisiran, platukan, cecrekan.Key words : studio, art, puppetry, accompaniment.
