Abstract

Wayang kulit has its own charm in the world of performing arts. The appointment of wayang as The World Master Piece of Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity from UNESCO on November 7, 2003, confirmed the existence of Wayang  in the community. Fifteen years later, on December 11, 2018, the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, declared it as National Puppet Day. The attractiveness of wayang performances depends on the various supporting elements of the performing arts. These elements include the puppeteer, performance script, musical accompaniment, sound system and stage layout, etc. In addition, what is no less important is the governance or management of the puppets. Researchers, in this case, see that there are elements that play an important role in the procedures of storing and structuring these wayang; namely ebleg. Therefore, the author is interested in studying this ebleg further. The pattern of the arrangement of ebleg in the wayang storage box at Sanggar Mayangkara has a maximum of fourteen ebleg in one box. The ebleg is arranged in layers from bottom up by paying attention to the safety and durability of the puppets, the effectiveness and efficiency of the circulation of the puppets to support the puppeteer’s performances, as well as paying attention to the ergonomics side.

Abstract

This article discusses hoe the Pedalangan Department develops and implements Digital Learning Innovations in Pakeliran Gaya Pokok II (The Basic Style of Pakeliran) course. The purpose of this program is to provide convenience and freedom of learning in access that is no longer bound by distance, space, and time in the era of the sophisticated Information Technology (IT). In addition, it is an effort to respond to the Covid-19 pandemic condition which demands that learning in universities must be held online. Learning innovations in the development and implementation of digital innovations for Pakeliran Gaya Pokok II (Surakarta) include system, media, and content. The result of this program is the availability of digital learning media for Pakeliran Gaya Pokok II which is innovative and supports the independent learning programs in the industrial era 4.0.

Abstract

This essay is entitled “Edipeni Dan Adiluhung: Proyeksi Filsafati Dalam Pertunjukan Wayang” (Edipeni and Adiluhung: Proyection of Philosophy in Wayang Performance). The main point is to discuss how far the wayang performance has phylosophical values. It is very important because during the global era, cross culture between Western and Eastern have seriously effect toward the quallity and morallity of Indonesian young generation.Wayang performance seem to be a symbol of human life which has more spiritual than physical values. For the society who like it, it would be used as a reference for the role of action and character buillding, and the values of wayang performance look as a way of life, ideolgy, also as an esence of human life. In wayang performance, there would be found the role of the corellation between human and God, human and human, also human and nature. Beautifullness of wayang performance include the whole values which is exposed in performance. So the meaning of phylosophy in wayang really has a large meaning.

Abstract

The Sindoro Sumbing Festival is part of the Indonesiana Platform. The Mapageh Sang Watu Kalumpang ballet is the core of the cultural event series Sindoro-Sumbing Festival (FSS) 2019 which took place at Kledung Field, Temanggung. This annual festival was held for the first time on 19 and 20 July 2019. It is a collaboration of the governments of Wonosobo and Temanggung Regencies that promoted local wisdom and environment friendly through a creative approach. The Sindoro Sumbing Festival is a mutual cooperation platform in strengthening the governance capacity of cultural activities as well as a forum for strengthening the cultural ecosystem. It shows how the synergy between the local government, in this case the Culture Office, with the community/artist and the cultural ecosystem in the area in collaboration with the UPT (Technical Implementing Unit), the Ministry of Education and Culture in the area such as the Archaeological Center, Museums, Cultural Conservation Center as well as various institutions, companies, CSR in each region. The Indonesiana Platform is expected to be a working model for organizing cultural arts festivals an various parts of the country.

Abstract

The digital learning innovation of Garap Pakeliran II course is a grant program from the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture. This program is also an implementation of the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (the Independent Study of Independent Campus). The innovation made is to transform learning materials into digital materials in the form of text and audio-visual. The Garap Pakeliran course is a compulsory practical course for students majoring in puppetry. The learning material is to direct students to be able to compose a good and qualified puppetry work. This activity can also be participated by students from outside ISI Surakarta as a form of application for the MBKM program. The digital material that was successfully compiled was then uploaded to the ISI Surakarta e-learning and YouTube page. Through these activities, students can learn independently and creatively as well as innovatively so that it is in accordance with what students want to do in relation to the preparation of puppetry works.

Abstract

This study reveals two problems related to the structure of the work and the aesthetics of the Sareh Budi Utomo sabet kupu tarung, including: (1) what is the structure of the work and the Sareh sabet kupu tarung? and (2) What is the aesthetic impression of the sabet kupu tarung that is presented by Sareh? These two problems were studied based on the sanggit garap and nuksma mungguh paradigms. Textual problems were analyzed using choreographic theory, aesthetic theory, and the concept of Javanese puppetry. This research is descriptive qualitative. Data were collected through literature study, interviews, and direct observation of the sabet kupu tarung wars served by Sareh Budi Utomo. The results showed: first, Sareh Budi Utomo had carried out the process of working on the structure of his sabet kupu tarung so that it had a different working structure sabet with the dalang in other sub styles. Second, the sabet kupu tarung of Sareh Budi Utomo created an aesthetic impression in the form of attractive, greget, semu, resik, trampil, rame, gayeng, nuksma and mungguh.

Abstract

This article discusses the transformation of the story Arjuna Wiwaha in the reliefs of Candi Jago and the Lakon Ciptaning. Based on the description that has been prepared, it can be concluded that three aspects, namely the history of emergence, religious aspects, and interaction aspects, can be used as simple indicators to see interactions and/or transformations in Kakawin Arjuna, reliefs of Arjuna Wiwawaha, and Lakon Ciptaning. Looking at the time intervals for the emergence and development of the three elements can give an understanding that there must be any further and deeper interactions occur. The similarities in of the religious background, namely Hinduism, become a strong reason of the communication contacts in various aspects of life, including arts. In addition, Holt said that at that time, Kakawin Arjuna, the reliefs of Arjuna Wiwawaha, and Lakon Ciptaning seemed to interact each other and it can be seen from the integration of various styles which were then stylized on the reliefs of temples in East Java that become their distinctive characteristics. Thus, the transformation that occurs in these three elements shows the changes at the level of appearance (zahir), surface, presentation, and expression, and not in the deeper areas concerning meaning, content, message, and value (value) does not experience change.

Abstract

The main object of this research is to present a performance model that includes sanggit ginem in the Mayangkara show as a discourse show that contains advices in taking life so that this model can be used as a moral education for all people, especially the younger generation. Methods of creation and presentation include (1) observation to determine the gynecological vocabularies; (2) observation to compose sabet vocabularies; (3) observation to the vocal accompaniment of pakeliran; (4) observation to determine the sanggit of the show; (5) exploration of composing sanggit scenes; (5) designing a model for the sanggit gynecological discourse in the Mayangkara show; (6) the presentation of the sanggit ginem discourse in the Mayangkara show; and (7) Evaluation of the creation results. The result of the research is an applied gynecological sanggit performance of the Mayangkara show.

Abstract

Râja malla: A Reception Study describes the events of text variations in Old Javanese Wirataparwa into New Javanese Wirataparwa. Text variation is creativity in which the reception of the text and its environment is reflected. Such incidents often occur in the text of wayang stories. Receptions can occur not only in the form of written text but also in the form of performing arts. The phrase râja malla in Old Javanese Wirataparwa underwent a shift in the New Javanese tradition in the form of written texts, and also in the form of performing arts. The reception referred to, first, is a shift in pronunciation from the Old Javanese tradition to the New Javanese tradition. Second, the shift in meaning, which originally meant the king of fights, has changed to the king of ‘disease’. Third, which was originally only a title or title which meant a fighting king, then in the New Javanese tradition it appeared as a personal name, namely Rajamala, a Wirata officer. Fourth, what was originally in the form of prose then changed in the form of song macapat, and in the form of performing arts with its various variants. The purpose of writing this article is to describe the process of the reception so as to produce new works based on existing works. The occurrence of text variation is described based on reception theory which holds that text variation occurs due to the principle of copyist freedom in copying text by reducing, changing or substituting words, phrases or episodes as deemed necessary. Another principle that is considered important is that every time there is copying, a new creation occurs. The steps taken to produce this article were by looking at or finding the development of texts from Old Javanese literature to New Javanese literature both in the form of written traditions and performing arts.

Abstract

The research entitled “Nilai-Nilai Pendidikan Karakter Dalam The Ramayana Karya R.K. Narayan” is to describe how the values   of character education contained in a book by Indian author, R.K. Narayan, entitled The Ramayana, A Shortened Modern Prose Version of The Indian Epic. The values   of character education, at this time, are very urgent to be given especially to all children of the nation as the future generation because in this era of IT (Information technology) everything can be accessed easily so there needs to be a filter so as not to cause unwanted effects. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method with a structural approach through the study of the intrinsic elements in the book. Data obtained through literature study and direct interviews with resource persons. The results of this study indicate that the plot / storyline of the Ramayana begins with the kidnapping of Sita by Ravana, then a conflict occurs, namely the war between Rama and the monkey army with Ravana and his giant army, with the climax of Ravana’s death in the battlefield. The characters involved are the protagonists, namely Rama, Sita, Lakshmana, Hanuman, and Vibishana, while the antagonists are Ravana, Kumbakarna, Soorpanaka, and Keikayi. The values   of character education contained in the story include the values   of religiosity, nationalism, independence, mutual cooperation, and integrity.
