Abstract

Abstract

The oil palm cultivated in the replanting area does not grow optimally because it was mostly attacked by rhinoceros beetle (Oryctes rhinoceros L.). The percentage of hornet beetle attacks is relatively high, at 80% in plants aged three years and 100% at 1-1.5 years. It was known that the residual waste replanting is the cause of the high population of horn beetles because the decayed palm oil stems become a suitable habitat for the development of these pests. To overcome the problems faced by partners, Integrated Pest Management (IPM) was applied. IPM components to be applied are cultural control, mechanical, and semiochemical control with pheromones. Community service was carried out using counseling methods, training, demonstration plots, providing equipment and machinery, as well as monitoring and evaluation. IPM technology assemblies that have been applied can reduce the attack rate of rhinoceros beetle from 86.68% to 79.60%. Until now, IPM equipment is still installed and operated by partner farmer groups. At the end of the activity, the partner farmer groups can apply IPM independently in their respective fields. Sustainable IPM applications, covering large-scale land, involving all palm oil business actors will increase the success of the method in the future.

Abstract

Ginger is a type of rhizome that is found in fresh and processed form in Indonesia. Ginger has several benefits, one of which is to increase the body's immune system. The problem is that people still lack knowledge and expertise in processing ginger into products that have a long shelf life and are practical for consumption. The purpose of making ready-to-drink instant ginger powder is to create a practical, efficient, and durable product from the ginger plant. It is hoped that its health benefits will be obtained by increasing the body's immune system. This activity was carried out at the homes of residents of Purwodadi Argamakmur Village, North Bengkulu. The target of this activity is the women of Purwodadi Village to independently make this instant ginger for personal needs or use it as a business opportunity. Implementing this activity begins with the manufacture of instant ginger powder, which is then continued with a demonstration of making instant ginger powder to the people of Purwodadi Village. The results obtained in the socialization of making instant ginger powder in the form of increasing knowledge about how to make instant ginger powder and the health benefits of ginger. Meanwhile, there was an increase in community skills and expertise in making instant ginger powder for demonstration activities. It was concluded from the results of this activity that the resulting ginger products were distributed and socialized to the public and found public interest, especially mothers who were enthusiastic about gaining knowledge of the health benefits of ginger and how to make instant ginger powder. It is hoped that this activity will empower the women of the Purwodadi Village community so that they want to increase their family income and make instant ginger powder independently.

Abstract

Nagari VIII Koto is one of the villages in Guguak District with agriculture as the main economic sector of the community with the main crops of lowland rice and maize. Access to remote provincial and regency capitals is one of the obstacles to economic growth for these regions. There is often a shortage of fertilizers because subsidized fertilizers are lost on the market, making it difficult for farmers to maintain their production. The solutions that can be offered are planting ginger plants that are more resistant to drought, processing agricultural waste into compost, an alternative to reduce dependence on the use of chemical fertilizers, use of biological agents and vegetable pesticides as agents for controlling pests and diseases, and processing ginger production for increase selling value, competitiveness and community income. The purpose of this farmer group empowerment activity is to increase farmers' interest in cultivating ginger well and towards certification of better cultivation (healthy and organic) and processing ginger into instant products independently by the village community. The method used in this activity is socialization and counseling activities. Abstract

Potato is a leading commodity in Alahan Panjang, Solok, West Sumatra. However, the existence of potatoes is increasingly limited due to the fewer farmers who cultivate this plant. The difficulty in obtaining quality seeds is the main reason farmers replace potatoes with other horticultural commodities. There is now a new potato breeding technology that promises higher seed production and seed quality. Aeroponics technology is a cultivation technology without using media. This technology relies on regular misting of water and nutrients into the root zone of the plant. However, this technology has not been applied by potato farmers in West Sumatra Province. The purpose of this activity is to develop a strategy for developing potato seed farming through an aeroponic system and empowering farmers to become producers of high-quality potato seeds through the development and transfer of technology for potato seed production in aeroponics so that farmers can meet their own seed needs within the framework of potato farming. This activity was carried out in Jorong Galagah, Alahan Panjang village, Lembah Gumanti District, Solok Regency. The implementation of the activity consists of two activities: 1) dissemination/socialization of activities and 2) demonstration of aeroponic potato seed production technology. The partner of this activity is the Harapan Baru Farmers Group. The Harapan Baru Farmers Group is one of the farmer groups in Alahan Panjang whose members are horticultural farmers, including potatoes. The results of the activity obtained by partner farmers are generally optimistic that they can carry out potato seed breeding with an aeroponic system independently after following the stages of training activities. This farmer group has applied bio cellular technology to produce potato seeds and use it for consumption potato production. With the application of aeroponic technology, it is expected that the productivity of potato seeds produced will be higher, and the quality of the seeds will also be better.

Abstract

Oil palm cultivated in the replanting area did not grow optimally because most were attacked by horn beetles (Oryctes rhinoceros L.). The percentage of horn beetle attacks was high, namely 80% in 3 year old plants and 100% at 1-1.5 years old. It is known that residual replanting waste is the cause of the high horn beetle population because rotting oil palm trunks become a suitable habitat for horn beetle development. To overcome the problems faced by partners, Integrated Pest Management (IPM) is applied. IPM components that will be applied are technical culture, mechanics, and semiochemical control with pheromones. This activity aims to reduce the level of damage to the horn beetle pest on oil palm plants after replanting. This activity is carried out using counseling methods, training, demonstration plots (pilots), providing assistance with tools and machines, as well as monitoring and evaluation. The results of the activity showed that the partners were able to independently implement integrated pest management (IPM) on their respective lands. Assembled IPM technology that has been applied can reduce the attack rate of horn beetles from 86.68% to 79.60%. Until now, IPM equipment is still installed and operated by partner farmer groups. The application of IPM at the demonstration plot locations can significantly reduce the horn beetle population, as well as no more visible symptoms of new plants being attacked. The sustainable application of IPM, covering large-scale land, involving all oil palm business actors will increase the chances of success of the method in the future. will come.
