Abstract

This study analyzes the poverty rate of regencies/cities on the island of Sumatra using quantitative methodology. Panel data regression analysis techniques with Pooled least Square (PLS), Fixed Effect Model (FEM), and Random Effect Model (REM). The panel data in the study is a combination of time series data for 2010-2019 with cross-section data from 153 regencies/cities on the island of Sumatra. The purpose of the study was to find the best panel data regression model and determine the variables that affect the poverty rate of regencies/cities on the island of Sumatra. The results of the research analysis found a fixed effect model (FEM) as the best model for analyzing the poverty rate (P0) of regencies/cities on the island of Sumatra. Access to electricity, access to adequate drinking water, acquisition of GRDP and government capital expenditure are variables that have a significant impact on the poverty rate (P0). Access to sanitation and population are not variables that affect the level of poverty (P0). The managerial implications of the government prioritize increasing district/city GRDP to reduce poverty.

Abstract

Finding potential sub-sectors and products in the City District of North Kalimantan Province is the goal of this research. To determine the contribution of the sub-sector, the method used is sub-sector mapping using the Overlay and Klassen Typology derived from LQ (Location Question) analysis to determine the comparative adventages, GRM (Growth Ratio Model) to determine the potential product and subsector, and SS (Shift Share) to determine the competitiveness of the sector. The results of the study show that each district/city in North Kalimantan Province has regional sub-sectors and products that are superior, potential and competitive and become their respective characteristics. As a result, it will become a policy suggestion for prospective sector growth in each location.

Abstract

This research was conducted to determine the influence  of oil price, stocks and exchange rates in Indonesia. The data used in this research is secondary data in the form of time series data stretching from November 2014 to November 2022. The Quantitative research method, which is VAR (Vector Autoregressive) was used to test and analyze hypotheses with measurable data to obtain parameters from the variables’ influence. The study’s results found that oil prices significantly influenced Indonesia’s stock prices decline. Oil on the exchange rate was also significant, meaning last month's oil prices affected the exchange rate this month, and there was a depreciation. Still, the exchange rate was not significant for stock prices.

Abstract

stract The purpose of this essay is to outline methods for implementing a green economy in Palopo City in order to escape the middle income trap. Since the creation of Palopo City in 2002, the per capita income of the residents of that city has fallen into the middle income range. The worst effect of this would be a lack of investor confidence in Palopo City, which could eventually lead to an increase in the poverty rate due to a lack of jobs. Therefore, Palopo City needs a plan to use the idea of a green economy to escape the middle class trap. The research design for this study is descriptive qualitative, and the methods for gathering data used are recording, interviews, and observation. The research results obtained are that currently the Palopo City government is building a city with the Business Traveler concept, but in this development, it is considered less than optimal, especially in the application of the green economy concept which has an impact on the accumulation of waste from business activities that pollutes the environment. Additionally, Palopo City's open unemployment rate is the second-highest in the country after Makassar City, necessitating increased job growth in the green economy industry. Strategies that can be applied in Palopo City to overcome the problem of the middle income trap by applying the green economy concept are: (1) waste management and circular economy, (2) application of extended producer responsibility policies as the role of producers who are ecologically literate, and (3) training programs green economy to prepare the human resources of Palopo City towards environmental-based economic development.

Abstract

One of the mainstay products of plantations, cocoa has a significant economic impact on the country, especially in terms of employment, income, and foreign exchange. This research aims to identify the relationships between cocoa exports and global cocoa prices between 1985 and 2020. Granger Causality was the quantitative methodology used in this research. Cocoa export volume and global cocoa prices are the study's factors. The study's findings showed that there was a one-way causal relationship between the variables, with the international cocoa price variable successfully affecting the cocoa export variable but no evidence of a causal relationship between the cacao export variable and the international cocoa price variable. This describes how coffee exports will be impacted by the price of coffee globally.

Abstract

In order to gain a general understanding of the dominant industries in each district or city and assess the degree of inequality in the area, this paper will analyze the economic structure in the Gerbangkertosusila National Strategic Area using a quantitative research methodology. The three techniques used to analyze the data—Location Quotient, Klassen Typology, and Williamson Index—are all taken from the Central Bureau of Statistics. The results of data processing from the three methods show that the level of inequality between regions is still high and the gap has increased every year. Bangkalan Regency is the only district that is lagging behind in terms of regions that are still in quadrant IV, and there are 10 and 17 business fields that are categorized as underdeveloped. This indicates that the existence of the Suramadu bridge has not been able to have a positive impact on the economy in Bangkalan, which is the gateway to Madura.

Abstract

Based on constant prices, the agricultural sector's GRDP growth rate trends to decline between 2018 and 2020. Given the various commodities that have been developed in Gorontalo Regency's agricultural sector, particularly in the food sub-sector, it is hoped that there will soon be superior commodities that are well developed and can positively affect the region's economic growth, particularly in the agricultural sector, particularly in the food sub-sector. The goal of this study was to use LQ (Location Quotient) and SSA (Shift Share Analysis)  analysis tools to identify basic and non-basic commodities in the food sub-sector of Gorontalo Regency, identify commodities belonging to progressive growth, and identify the leading commodities in the food sub-sector of Gorontalo Regency. According to the analysis's findings, rice, corn, and soybeans were the three most important fundamental commodities in the Gorontalo Regency's food sub-sector.
