Abstract

Crab (Scylla serrata) is a commodity that has high prospects for cultivation. Cultivation in Indonesia has not been intensive and densely spread low due to the threat of crab deaths due to cannibalism. The purpose of this study was to determine the comparison of the growth of male and female crabs in the recirculation system to increase the productivity of mangrove crab. The research was conducted from November 2019 to June 2020 at the Aquaculture Laboratory, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences Satya Negara University of Indonesia and blood tests were conducted at the Center for Freshwater Aquaculture Fisheries- Bogor. The experiment used a Complete Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of three treatments and five replicate each. The treatments consisted of: A: male crab; B: female crab; C: Control. The number of seeds that used in this study were 5 for each treatment with five replications and density of 5 crab per maintenance container (gallon). The feed provided were fish feed selar Atule mate which was cut into small pieces. The selar fish came from Muara Angke, North Jakarta. Feeds were given with frequency 4 times a day. The results showed that the growth of male and female mangrove crab gave the best production performance in the treatment of female maintenance containers with survival rate of 53.33%, absolute growth rate of 3.76 g, and carapac width of 3.44 mm.Keywords: crab (Scylla serrata.), growth, recirculation system

Abstract

The study of biodiversity is important in looking at the current condition of an aquatic environment. The purpose of this study is to examine the biodiversity of the fauna in the Progo River in determining the level of fish diversity and the status of fish resources in the Progo river by using a Geographical Information System (GIS). The sampling method was carried out by purposive sampling consisting of 17 stations. The data taken includes coordinate points, the diversity index (H '), evenness index (E), dominance index (D), and relative abundance (Kr), as well as making a map of the distribution of progo river fish using Arcgis software version 10.5. The results showed that the diversity index value (H ') was moderate to high with a value range of 2.24 to 3.83, with a catch composition consisting of 23 species and 11 families. The evenness index value (E) of the progo river ranges from 0.71 to 1.21. Based on this value, the Progo River has an evenness value between species that is relatively even or the number of individuals of each species is relatively the same. Progo river dominance index value ranges from 0.002-0.008, that is, no fish species dominates. The highest relative abundance (Kr) was balar fish (Barbonymus balleroides) = 0.12%, melem fish (Osteochilus vittatus) = 0.11%, uceng fish (Nemacheilus fasciatus) 0.09%, tilapia fish (Oreochromis niloticus) 0 , 08%, while the lowest was kekel fish (Glyptothorax platypogon) and sepat fish (Trichopodus trichopterus) with a value of 0.01%. The results of the analysis of the distribution of fish in the Progo river show that the fish are widely distributed in the river area which has deep and calm water characteristics, this is indicated by the number of catches at each research station. Keywords: Biodiversity, Progo River, Geographical Information System (GIS)

Abstract

Baung fish is one of the local fish in West Kalimantan which has high economic value. One of the problems that arise in the maintenance of baung fish larvae is the low survival and growth rate, the most strategic solution is to determine the right type of feed according to the feeding habits of the baung fish larvae. The purpose of this study was to obtain the type of natural food that was most effective in rearing the larvae of fish. The research design used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 3 repetitions. Treatment types of natural feed used in this study were Artemia (A), Water Fleas (B), Silkworms (C) and Pellet Flour (D), and arranged randomly. The results of the research through analysis of variance (Anova) show that all treatments can have a significant effect on the absolute length growth rate variable and the survival rate variable. Based on Tukey's further test, the treatment that had the best effect on the growth rate of absolute length was treatment C, namely 9.20 ± cm, while the treatment with the highest effect on survival rate was treatment A which was 98.8Keywords: Natural Feed, Baung Fish, Growth, Survival

Abstract

Baung fish is one type of local fish that has a slow growth. One of the efforts to increase the growth of baung fish can be done by using probiotics. This study aimed to determine the optimum dose of probiotic addition for the baung fish rearing. The experiment used a completely randomized design (CRD) with four treatments, three replications, and one control. The probiotic doses: 2 ml/kg of feed (A), 4 ml/kg of feed (B), 6 ml/kg of feed (C), 8 ml/kg of feed (D) and 0 ml/kg of feed (control) were used as treatment. The commercial feed was given ad satiation with a frequency of feeding three times a day. Observations were made for two months. The results showed that the D treatment of 8 ml/kg of feed gave the best absolute weight growth and feed conversion ratio. While, the baung fish survival rate was not significantly different on all treatments. Keywords: Baung fish, growth, probiotics

Abstract

Parasite infections in aquaculture can trigger primary infections due to decreased fish immunity making it easier for other microorganisms, both bacteria and viruses, to enter the fish's body. This study aims to identify, calculate the prevalence and intensity of parasites that found in catfish ponds of the "Mino Ngremboko" fish farmers group in Grabag Village, Grabag District, Purworejo Regency. This study used the scraping method by reviewing the gills, mucus from the skin, fins and digestive tract onto a glass object which was then observed microscopically using a light microscope with a magnification of 10-40x. The parasites found were ectoparasites consisting of 6 species; Trichodina sp., Tetrahymena sp., Gyrodactylus sp., Epistylis sp., and Dactylogyrus sp. No parasites were found from the endoparasite and hematozoa groups. The highest prevalence was Dactylogyrus sp. with a prevalence rate of 54% and the lowest was Dinoflagella with a prevalence rate of 10%. The highest and lowest parasite intensities were Epistylis sp. (18,0 ind./infected fish) and Dactylogyrus sp. (2,8 ind./infected fish), respectively. It can be concluded that the level of parasitic infections in the fish farmer groups ponds was at the "common-usually” level based on William and Bunkley's prevalence criteria.Key words: Clarias sp., identification of Parasite, prevalence, intensity, Mino Ngremboko

Abstract

Guppy fish is currently in high demand because they has interesting color variations such as red, blue, yellow. The carotenoid content in red peppers and red spinach is able to increase the brightness of the color of the fish. This research aims to find out the effect of the addition of red peppers and red spinach on guppy fish color. Completely Randomized Design with 3 treatment and 3 repetitions was used. The research data was analyzed by using the Adope Photoshop app by observing the discoloration that occurred before and after the treatment by using color libraries. The study found that the percentage of blue and purple in guppy fish increased. This was related to the absence of carotene that associated with protein and produces carotenoproteins. The most prominent discoloration result was the treatment 1 (addition of peppers). In treatment 1 there was a significant discoloration of the blue color with the code 732-0 from 0% to 11.9%, while in the treatment 2 (addition of spinach) color coded 732-0 was changed from 0% to 5.88%, the treatment 3(control) treatment was changed from 1.21 % to 0.6%. Meanwhile, the purple color with the code 728-0 on treatment 1 from 0% to 2.36%, on treatment 2 from 0% to 0.22% and on treatment 3 purple color did not came out. It can be concluded that the most influential to the color of guppy fish was peppers, spinach and control treatment, respectively. Keywords : red spinach, carotene, guppy fish, red peppers, color.
