The participants involved in this research were 25 university English students who were taking Phonetics course. The collected data was then analyzed using SPSS. The analysis techniques of this study were descriptive statistics and multiple regression analysis. The study found that the learners' diphthong pronunciation did not develop significantly. Moreover, it even tends to have downward trend. Finally, according to the regression analysis, the aspect of learners' linguistic background that affected the most on their pronunciation development was their exposure to English.

Respondents in this study were students, subject teachers, media specialists, and material experts. The research instrument used were tested for validity and reliability, including a feasibility test questionnaire, practicality test, and validity test (r number > 0.70). The Indonesian cultural resources for the Indonesian B course came up to have been developed by the requirements of the Language B Policy of the IB DP Curriculum. The policy consists of five themes: identity, experience, human ingenuity, social organization, and sharing the planet. The Google Sites materials consist of a home menu, learning materials, exercises, portfolios, and reflections. The materials are checked for feasibility, practicality, and effectiveness. According to test results, Indonesian cultural materials are considered highly relevant and appropriate (91.1%), efficient (87.8%) and highly effective (86.7%) in conducting BIPA learning. It is hoped that the page-based product of the Indonesian cultural materials Google site will be a reference for BIPA learning.

Abstract

At this time, online learning is commonplace, although there are still limitations. Needs analysis reveals that individual learning predominates and that cooperative learning is difficult to implement, despite its significance. Based on this, the purpose of this research is to develop a Cooperative-Problem Based Learning model to be used as a distance learning model in learning Indonesian for high school students. This type of research uses the Plomp Model for development (preliminary research; prototype stage; and assessment stage). This study uses a descriptive data analysis approach. The data was obtained based on the validation results that have been carried out in 2 ways, namely self-evaluation and expert validation. Validation was carried out using instruments in the form of a questionnaire and the results of the questionnaire analysis were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The results showed that the teaching materials produced were classified as very valid and could be tested on students. The results of the study show that a language learning model is needed that allows students to learn cooperatively in groups even when distance or online learning is used. In addition, the learning model must adapt to the demands of students and develop following the progress of science and technology. A possible alternative is the Cooperative-Problem-Based Learning approach.

Abstract

Learning French writing is often considered a difficult lesson. Not only at the college level but also at the high school level. The difficulties experienced by students are usually related to grammar, orthography, vocabulary, and in finding ideas. One of the ways to overcome this difficulty is by practicing writing in French a lot. A significant way to practice is to use a portfolio assessment. This study aims to develop a portfolio assessment of French writing skills for class X SMA students. This portfolio assessment was developed based on Sugiyono's R&D model, while the method follows Kaur and Samad (2013). To find out whether the portfolio assessment is appropriate and appropriate for high school students to use, a survey was conducted by 5 French teachers in DKI Jakarta and its surroundings. This study concludes that the developed portfolio assessment changes are suitable for use in class.

Abstract

Despite the fact that technology and online media’s great contributions on extensive listening practices, students who are unaccustomed to such activities would find the practice challenging. The current study investigated 20 first-semester university students undertaking extensive listening practices which were recorded into logbooks. The researchers aimed to map out students’ reflections on challenges and satisfaction towards the media and listening practices under a descriptive qualitative research, utilizing document analysis. Results of data analysis shows that the freedom of choice given to students while undertaking extensive listening activities through online media brought positive responses on the overall students’ satisfaction on the listening practice. Nevertheless, the unsorted levels of difficulty, unfamiliar words, foreign accents, and speed of speech from the media became the barriers mostly encountered in understanding the language contents. Furthermore, unsatisfactory listening experiences were also reported by a few students. Thus, it is advisable that teachers who implement extensive listening practices to offer help for learners to be more aware of their current and future potential to make sure learning more efficiently. It is highly expected that through frequent interactions with the listening inputs from various sources, students would enhance their metacognitive strategies to have better control of their learning.
