Abstract

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), newborn or neonatal deaths account for 37% of all child deaths each year. As many as 8,000 newborn babies around the world die every day due to things that cannot be prevented, such as asphyxia caused by entanglement in the umbilical cord. Researchers found a case where the umbilical cord was wrapped around the baby's neck and arms with two coils of umbilical cord in Mrs. F's baby at midwifery clinic Rungkut Surabaya. Comprehensive midwifery care is one way that can help prevent complications from the first to the fourth stage of labour, new born and contraception. The aim of this Final Project Report is to provide comprehensive midwifery care during the first to fourth stages of labor and family planning counseling for Mrs. F to newborn baby Mrs. F with umbilical cord coil at midwifery clinic Rungkut Surabaya. This research method is descriptive and the type used is a case study. In this case, this is done by loosening the umbilical cord, then removing it from the baby's arms and head as soon as possible. During the birth process, the mother was able to cooperate and follow every instruction given by the midwife, the baby was born normally, the mother's physical condition was normal after an examination and an episiotomy was not carried out, then there was a grade 1 tear that occurred spontaneously when pushing. Examination of the mother after 2 hours of labor was conscious of compost mentis with no abnormal bleeding. Next, the researcher provides CEI regarding mobilization, nutrition, exclusive breastfeeding, postpartum danger signs, which the mother understands and hopes can be implemented by the client so that the mother and baby remain healthy.

Abstract

The main approaches to reducing maternal mortality is through the Antenatal Care (ANC) program. ANC is a structured intervention that includes observation, education, and medical procedures designed to ensure a healthy pregnancy and smooth delivery, while reducing the risk of maternal and infant morbidity and mortality. This study aims to determine the impact of the availability of facilities and infrastructure and the role of families on the implementation of Integrated Antenatal Care in 2024. The study employed a descriptive-analytic design with a cross-sectional approach and quantitative methods. A total of 53 respondents were selected as the sample. Data were collected using questionnaires and observation sheets, and analyzed using descriptive statistics and the chi-square test. The results showed that more than half of the respondents (30) did not complete their ANC visits. Meanwhile, 37 respondents considered the available facilities and infrastructure to be adequate, while 31 respondents perceived family support as lacking. Statistical analysis revealed a significant relationship between the availability of facilities and infrastructure and ANC implementation (p = 0.033), as well as between family support and ANC implementation (p = 0.005). In conclusion, adequate facilities and infrastructure, along with supportive family involvement, significantly contribute to the successful implementation of Integrated Antenatal Care in Poskesdes Puser Village, Tirtayasa Subdistrict, in 2024.

Abstract

Breast milk (breast milk) according to WHO is defined as the best and highly nutritious natural food or milk for babies because of its many benefits both in terms of maternal and infant. WHO also states that all children in the world have the right to breastfeed, especially in the first 6 months of life. Babies who get breast milk from the first day of birth have a smaller risk of infection, immunity because the baby's body is guaranteed, breastfeeding is proven to prevent stunting and prevent immunity reduction, but there are many obstacles and factors in the field to breastfeeding from the first day of birth such as the mother's experience in the first child, then environmental factors such as husband and family support. The purpose of this study aims to determine the relationship between postpartum maternal parity and family support for exclusive breastfeeding at TPMB Mia Widana. The research method used is quantitative with a descriptive analytical approach and cross-sectional research design. The population was 198 people, the sample used was total sampling and analyzed univariate and bivariate using the Chi square test. The results of the study showed that there was a significant relationship between the parity variable and family support for exclusive breastfeeding at TPMB Mia widana with p values of 0.000 and 0.003

Abstract

Adolescents are highly vulnerable to HIV/AIDS due to limited knowledge, widespread misinformation, and the lack of comprehensive sex education in Indonesia. Tarakan City records the highest HIV/AIDS cases in North Kalimantan, with adolescents as a significant contributor. This study aims to analyze adolescents’ knowledge of HIV/AIDS and the multidimensional factors influencing it, including geographical, sociocultural, educational, and psychosocial aspects. This study uses a descriptive-qualitative approach based on literature review and secondary data, analyzed thematically. Results show that low sexual literacy among adolescents is driven by inadequate sex education, social stigma, limited access in remote areas (3T), and digital misinformation. These factors contribute to risky sexual behavior, low HIV testing awareness, and mental health issues. HIV/AIDS prevention among adolescents requires a multisectoral approach, including school- and culture-based sex education, digital literacy improvement, youth-friendly health services, and active adolescent involvement. Cross-sector collaboration is crucial to building an informed, protected, and empowered young generation.

Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the relationship between maternal knowledge level and IUD selection as a contraceptive method. Objective: To analyze the relationship between maternal knowledge level and Intrauterine Device (IUD) selection at Kedungreja Health Center, Cilacap Regency. Methods: This study used a descriptive correlational design with a cross-sectional approach. The research sample consisted of 37 family planning acceptors at Kedungreja Health Center, Cilacap Regency. The sampling technique used purposive sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires to measure maternal knowledge level about IUD and contraceptive method selection data. Data analysis used statistical tests to determine the relationship between the two variables. Results: The study results showed that the majority of family planning acceptors at Kedungreja Health Center had insufficient knowledge about IUD, namely 19 people (51.4%). Family planning acceptors who chose to use IUD were only 11 people (29.7%) of the total sample. There was a significant relationship between maternal knowledge level and IUD selection as a contraceptive method with a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05). Conclusion: The level of maternal knowledge about IUD at Kedungreja Health Center, Cilacap Regency is still low and significantly influences IUD selection as a contraceptive method. Increased education and counseling about IUD need to be implemented to improve maternal knowledge so they can make appropriate decisions in choosing contraceptive methods that suit their needs.

Abstract

Acute myocardial infarction (AMI) is a leading cause of death from ischemic heart disease, characterized by sudden blockage of the coronary arteries. One of the main therapies to treat this blockage is the administration of streptokinase, a thrombolytic agent that functions to dissolve blood clots. This paper aims to assess the effectiveness of streptokinase use in patients with AMI through a literature review of various international and national clinical studies. The method used is a literature review with descriptive analysis of relevant research results. The study results indicate that early administration of streptokinase can reduce mortality and improve patient prognosis, despite the risk of allergic reactions and lower efficacy compared to newer generation thrombolytics. However, due to its widespread availability and lower cost, streptokinase remains the primary treatment of choice in many developing countries.

Abstract

Cancer is one of the leading causes of death worldwide. Breast cancer is one of the more common in women, which appears as a malignant tumor in breast tissue consisting of mammary glands, milk ducts, connective tissue, and adipose. This study aimed to compare the effectiveness of radiologic modalities in the early detection of breast cancer, focusing on grayscale ultrasound, mammography and MRI examinations. The research method included a literature review of previous studies that discussed the comparative effectiveness of radiologic modalities in the early detection of breast cancer. The analysis showed that mammography, ultrasound and MRI are the imaging methods used to detect breast cancer, with each having advantages and disadvantages in terms of sensitivity and specificity. MRI has the highest sensitivity, especially for detecting small tumors and in women with dense breast tissue, but has lower specificity than mammography. Mammography, despite the use of radiation, is effective for early detection, especially in women with high risk factors. Ultrasound is often used as a follow-up examination or to evaluate lumps detected on mammogram.

Abstract

Early mobilization is crucial for post-C-section patients. Failure to mobilize post caesarean section patients can result in delayed wound healing, infection, bleeding, obstructed blood flow, and impaired uterine involution. Therefore, patients need to gain knowledge about post caesarean  section mobilization, which can be obtained through education from healthcare professionals. This study aimed to examine the correlation between educational leaflet provision and early mobilization in post-CS patients. The study was conducted in the Postnatal Ward of RSUD (Regional Public Hospital) Prembun from March 4 to May 31, 2025. An analytic correlational design with a cross-sectional approach was employed. Sampling was carried out using purposive sampling. Research instruments included educational leaflets and a mobilization checklist. A total of 86 postpartum women within 0–2 hours post-CS without comorbidities were included, divided into those who received leaflet-based education and those who received verbal information only. Mobilization was evaluated using a checklist 24 hours post-CS. Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate Spearman rank correlation tests. The majority of respondents were of reproductive age, had completed high school or higher education, and were multiparous. A total of 54 respondents (62.8%) performed early mobilization. Statistical analysis showed a significant correlation between leaflet-based education and early mobilization (p = 0.000, r = 0.446).
