Abstract

Indonesia faces the challenge of rapid population growth. The national family planning program, particularly the use of intrauterine devices (IUDs) as a long-term contraceptive method, is a key strategy to address this issue. However, the uptake of long-term contraceptive methods (Metode Kontrasepsi Jangka Panjang/MKJP) at RSUD (Regional Public Hospital) Banyumas remains low. This study aims to analyze the factors associated with third-trimester pregnant womens interest in using IUDs. This research employed a cross-sectional analytic correlational design involving 93 respondents. Data analysis was conducted using the Spearman Rank correlation test to examine relationships between the dependent variable (interest in using IUDs) and the independent variables: parity, knowledge level, income, husbands support, and education. Results there was no statistically significant association between education level (p = 0.359) or parity (p = 0.487) and interest in IUD use. However, significant associations were found between income (p = 0.044), knowledge (p = 0.031), and husbands support (p = 0.001) and the interest in using IUDs. Conclusion the majority of respondents had a high level of education, income below the regional minimum wage, were multiparous, possessed moderate knowledge, and reported strong support from their husbands. Husbands support was found to have a moderately strong influence on interest in IUD use. It is recommended that health workers enhance educational efforts and actively involve husbands in the counseling process. RSUD Banyumas is also encouraged to develop Information, Education, and Communication (IEC/KIE) programs targeted at couples. Future research should consider exploring other influencing factors such as perceived side effects, cultural and religious beliefs, and counseling history.

Abstract

Anemia in pregnancy is commonly caused by malnutrition, leading to a decrease in hemoglobin (Hb) levels. Maternal nutritional status is a key indicator of adequate nutrient intake and plays a crucial role in preventing anemia. Poor nutritional status may impair erythropoiesis or result in dysfunctional red blood cells. Nutritional status in pregnant women can be assessed using Body Mass Index (BMI) and Mid-Upper Arm Circumference (MUAC), along with hemoglobin level measurement. This study aims to analyze the association between BMI and MUAC with hemoglobin (Hb) levels in pregnant women. A quantitative cross-sectional study desain was employed. Secondary data were obtained from hemoglobin examinations conducted in 2024. The study used total sampling technique, including101 pregnant women who underwent Hb Testting. Bivariate analysis was performed to examine the relationship between BMI, MUAC and Hb levels. The results showed no significant association between BMI and Hb levels (p=0.282), while a significant association wa found between MUAC and Hb levels (p=0.027). In conclution, BMI is not associated with Hb levels, whereas MUAC is significantly related to Hb levels in pregnant women.

Abstract

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is a complex endocrine disorder that often affects women of reproductive age and can cause various types of menstrual disorders, such as polymenorrhea, oligomenorrhea, amenorrhea, menorrhagia, metroragia and hypomenorrhea to irregular cycles. These disorders are generally caused by hormonal imbalances, such as increased androgens, abnormal LH/FSH ratio and insulin resistance. Risk factors that aggravate the condition include obesity, unhealthy lifestyle, stress, insulin resistance and genetic factors. The impact is not only on the reproductive system such as infertility, but also psychological risks and long-term complications such as metabolic syndrome and endometrial cancer. PCOS treatment includes lifestyle changes, hormonal therapy, as well as additional medications such as metformin. An in-depth understanding of the relationship between PCOS and menstrual disorders is important for early intervention to prevent long-term complications and improve the quality of life of women with PCOS.

Abstract

Labor pain during the active phase of the first stage of labor is a major challenge that can affect both the comfort and progress of the birthing process. Non-pharmacological interventions such as the use of a birth ball and hypnobirthing techniques are widely employed as safe and effective alternatives for pain relief. This study aimed to analyze the effect of birth ball and hypnobirthing interventions on reducing labor pain during the active phase of the first stage of labor among mothers delivering at PMB Mira Dahlia, Toboali District, South Bangka Regency, in 2025. A quantitative study was conducted using a quasi-experimental design with a pre-test–post-test non-equivalent control group approach. A total of 46 respondents were selected through purposive sampling. Pain levels were measured using a combination of the Visual Analogue Scale and Wong-Baker Scale before and after the interventions. Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate analysis with the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test and Mann-Whitney U Test. The results showed a significant reduction in labor pain after the birth ball intervention, with all respondents experiencing decreased pain levels (Wilcoxon test p = 0.000; p < 0.05). The hypnobirthing intervention also resulted in a significant reduction in pain (Z = -4.260; p = 0.000). However, the Mann-Whitney test showed no significant difference in effectiveness between the birth ball and hypnobirthing interventions (p = 0.061 > 0.05), although the average pain reduction was greater in the birth ball group. It can be concluded that both birth ball and hypnobirthing interventions are effective in reducing labor pain during the active phase of the first stage of labor. While no significant difference was found between the two methods, birth ball showed a slightly higher average reduction in pain compared to hypnobirthing.

Abstract

Clean water sanitation is a crucial aspect of human life. Contaminated water sources can be a contributing factor to stunting, as water tainted with bacteria can cause diseases such as diarrhea and pneumonia, which subsequently affect a child's nutritional status, leading to malnutrition, stunting, undernourishment, and wasting. Clean water sanitation, particularly the use of protected versus unprotected water sources, significantly influences the incidence of stunting. While improved knowledge of Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) is fundamental for better individual and public health, as well as sustainable community development, having good knowledge does not necessarily guarantee positive attitudes and practices. Data from the Paruga Community Health Center in Bima City shows fluctuating stunting cases: 194 cases in 2021, which decreased to 105 cases in 2022, and increased again to 126 cases in 2023. This study aims to describe the knowledge of mothers with stunted toddlers regarding clean water sanitation in the working area of the Paruga Community Health Center, Bima City, in 2024. This research employs a quantitative descriptive method. The population consisted of 126 mothers of stunted toddlers. A sample of 31 respondents was selected using simple random sampling. Data were analyzed using univariate analysis. The findings indicate that the knowledge of mothers with stunted toddlers about clean water is generally poor, which is associated with the stunted nutritional status of their children.
