Abstract

Generally, wastewater of nata de coco industry contains suspended solids and COD were high, ranging from 90,000 mg / l. The high level of of the wastewater pollutants, resulting in nata de coco industry can not be directly disposed of its wastewater into the environment agency. Appropriate technology required in order to process the waste water so that the treated water can meet the environmental quality standards that are allowed. Designing the waste water treatment plant that is suitable and efficient for treating industrial wastewater nata de coco is the activated sludge process. Wastewater treatment using activated sludge process of conventional (standard) generally consists of initial sedimentation, aeration and final sedimentation.Keywords : Activated Sludge, Design, IPAL

Abstract

An evaluation of the water quality at the hatchery of Tanjung Riau was conducted to understand the water quality status at the several place of the hatchery unit such as brood stock tanks, larva rearing tank, water storage tank, fi ngerling tank as well as the source of the water supply. The water quality status of Tanjung Riau generally is in a good condition to support the hatchery activities, but for turbidity and salinity were in the exceed and below the normal status and its infl uence on the spawning activity. To overcome the problem on the spawning of the brood stock, the improving of water supply with higher salinity and low turbidity should be set up to ensure the succeeded of the spawning.Key words : Water quality, grouper brood stock, hatchery,Tanjung Riau Batam

Abstract

Organic materials that are generally used as raw material for organic fertilizer granules (POG) is a natural organic material that has been degrade, smooth and dry. One of the main raw materials are always used with a very high percentage of usage, is manure. Manure potential in Indonesia is very high, amounting to 113.6 million tons per year, or 64.7 million tons per year to the island of Java. From this amount, it will be generated numbers POG production potential of 17.5 million tons per year (total Indonesia) or 9.9 million tons per year for the island of Java. While the realistic POG production predictions figures made from raw manure is 2.5 million tons annually, a figure that has been unable to meet the number requirement of POG greater than 4 million tons per year. Therefore, in producing POG, it should be to maximize the using of the potential of other organic materials so that the use of manure can be saved. With the use of a small amount of manure (maximum 30% for cow manure), it would be useful also to avoid the production of POG with high Fe content.keywods: organic material, manure, granule organic fertilizer

Abstract

Global warming is the increase in the average temperature of the earth surface, atmosphere and oceans.The global warming in recent years has been international issues. The issues come to the surfacebecause global warming has the very big impact to the world and the lives of animal, plant and human,such as world climate change. The main cause of global warming is the combustion of fossil fuel suchas coal, oil and natural gas, that released carbon dioxide and other gases to atmosphere as greenhousegases. One of alternative to retard this global warming is by replacing fossil fuel with utilization of nuclearenergy for power plant. As a comparison, a 1,000 MWe nuclear power plant as a substitute for coal fi redpower plant at the same capacity, will reduce 6,000,000 tons of CO2 gas emission per year. Consideringenvironmental aspect, the nuclear power plant is not emitting CO2 gas, so that the use of nuclear powerplant can retard the global warming. Considering economic aspect, based on operational experienceof nuclear power plants in advanced countries, it is shown that cost of generating electricity of nuclearpower plants is more competitive than fossil fuel power plant. Considering safety aspect, nuclear powerplant operating in the world, have passed by a technological test. They have also an excellent operationreliability and a very good safety system.

Abstract

Hambaro Agriculture Medical Farm (Kamaro) is sleeping land which is used for demonstration farming (demfarm) for agriculture medical plants. The aims of this research are (1) to plan, prepared and build demfarm for medical plants especially ginger, turmeric and temulawak, agriculture infrastructure, and another supporting building, (2) implemented land conservation technology with terrace-bench, cultivation and post harvest technology, and (3) introduce the technology to farmers? around the farm. Form 2004 t0 2008 demfarm ginger production increased from 2.67 ton/ha to 3.50 ton/ha, turmeric production increased from 7.9 ton/ha to 16 ton/ha and temulawak production increased from 17.5 ton/ha to 25 ton/ha.Keywords : Land conservation, medical plants, Hambaro

Abstract

Serayu River Basin is one of critical river basin in Java. This problems become seriously because the river basin cover wide area, that almost cover most of the south of Central Java Province. This research is aimed to calculate and analyse the resources potency of rainfall, river, groundwater and springs. Rainfall potency is calculated by isohyetal method, river potency is determined base onhydograph dan water level data. Groundwater and springs is determined qualitatifly base on Hydrogeological Map, whereas quantitatifly is calculated by meteorogical method base on water balance concept in river basin. As a result, show that the average rainfall in Serayu River Basin is 3,577 m3/year, whereasthe rainfall potency is 13,481.00 x 106 m3/year. The average of monthly maximum discharge in Serayu is 60 m3/second, with monthly minimum discharge 11 m3/second. Meteorologically, groundwater storage in Serayu River Basin is 105,981,890 m3/year. Beside that, in Serayu River Basin also have 93 springs, that is 10 springs with discharge more than 500 litre/second, 15 springs with discharge 50-100 litre/second, 20 springs with discharge 10-50 litre/second and 24 springs with discharge less than 10 litre/second.Keywords : Water resources potency, Serayu River Basin

Abstract

Clean water needs in almost all regions in Indonesia became a very important thing nowadays, although the areas not experiencing drought. This is due to existing water is no longer eligible for use as daily life water. In some areas the water have been polluted and certain natural conditions make it difficult for population to get their water. Pandeglang district is one of disadvantaged areas that experiencing problems of clean water needs, although this area has water resources are abundant. To help residents in solving this problem, it will be required an information of water treatment technology that can be widely accessed by residents in the Pandeglang district. Abstract

Application of computer programming is cheaper and faster method to design waste water treatment reactor. The aim of the program are to calculate dimension of unit operation of waste water treatment type contact process, aerobic lagoon and sedimentation pond and to count BOD output from waste water treatment and arrange of unit operation.
