Abstract

Antibacterial activity of n-hexane and ethyl acetate Lichen (Parmotrema tinctoruma) has been tested on Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli. The fraction was obtained from the liquid-liquid partitioning of Lichen ethanol extract (Parmotrema tinctoruma) which had gone through a maceration stage with 70% ethanol extraction. The liquid partitioning process is carried out using n-hexane and ethyl acetate. Antibacterial activity testing was carried out by agar diffusion method. Chemical components in the most active fractions are identified through phytochemical screening by thin-layer chromatography methods. The antibacterial activity test showed that the fractions of Lichen were able to inhibit the growth of the bacteria Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli. The n-hexane and ethyl acetate fractions each had inhibition zones of 14.50 mm and 11.37 mm. The Identification of compounds in the most active fraction through thin layer chromatography showed the presence of flavonoid compounds.

Abstract

Abstract Self care utilization of family medicinal plants (“toga”) is one of the government programs to realize the independence of drugs in the family environment in accordance with Minister of Health Regulation No. 9 of 2016. so many people who do not know enough about the “toga” and its use. Therefore this research was conducted with the aim of wanting to see the profile of Asman toga in the community in the Banyudono sub-district of Boyolali Regency. Sampling was carried out using random sampling method with observational descriptive data collection methods using questionnaire aids and interviews directly to respondents as supporting data. Data analysis was evaluated qualitatively based on the results of questionnaire and interview answers. Banyudono people use a part of the yard to plant the toga. The use of toga is generally for preventive, curative, and promotive purposes. Banyudono people tend to use toga to treat minor illnesses such as coughs, flu, diarrhea and headaches for cheap, easy to obtain and natural reasons. Toga is effective enough to overcome the problem of minor ailments and health promotion, and is able to increase the independence of the family for drugs.

Abstract

Sawo manila (Manilkara zapota L.) merupakan salah satu tumbuhan yang secara tradisional berkhasiat untuk mengobati pendarahan, luka, bisul dan demam. Daunnya memiliki kandungan flavonoid dan saponin yang cukup tinggi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan kadar flavonoid total yang terkandung dalam daun sawo manila dengan metode spektrofotometri. Daun yang telah kering diekstraksi secara refluks menggunakan pelarut etanol 70% dan variasi asam (HCl dan CH3COOH). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kadar rata-rata flavonoid total pada ekstrak daun sawo manila dengan penambahan HCl p adalah sebesar 8,35% lebih rendah dibandingkan dengan penambahan CH3COOH sebesar 14,52%.

Abstract

Noni seeds (Morinda citrifolia L) have an odor that is not liked by mosquitoes and contain alkaloid compounds and cardiac glycosides which act as mosquito repellents which have the ability to protect humans from disturbances or mosquito bites. This study aims to obtain a physically stable anti-mosquito lotion formula from noni seed oil which conducted by steam distillation method. Noni seed oil formulated into lotion preparations with variations in oil concentration (2%, 4% and 6%). Physical stability of the lotion then tested based on organoleptic observation, homogeneity test, pH test, emulsion type test, viscosity test, dispersion test, adhesion test, flow test and test on conditions before and after accelerated storage. The results indicate that all preparations with varying concentrations of oil are stable and effective as mosquito repellents. The noni seed oil lotion produced met the physical quality requirements of lotion preparations and effective as mosquito repellent on concentration 6% of noni seed oil. Abstract

The research concerning on the effectiveness of isopropyl myristate as a penetration enhancer agent against diffusion rate of antioxidant creams containing lyophilizates kasumba turate seed (Carthamus tinctorius L.) extract using Franz diffusion method had been done. This research aims to determine the optimum concentration of isopropyl myristate in kasumba turate antioxidant cream. Started with the sample preparation, the seeds of kasumba turate were extracted using infusion method, lyophilized and specified its total polyphenol. As regard the lyophilization process, the lyophilizates were formulated into W/O cream with varied concentration of isopropyl myristate at 1% (FII), 5% (FIII), 10% (FIV) w/w and used cream without isopropyl myristate as negative control. Physical stability of creams was evaluated both before and after stressed conditional storages and used Franz diffusion instrument to observe the penetration ability of creams. As the result, all creams are physically stable. Furthermore, FIII and FIV have good penetration manner, especially FIV using 10% isopropyl myristate as a penetration enhancer agent in lyophilizates kasumba turate cream has the greatest polyphenol flux and cumulative amount.
