Abstract

Hyptis suaveolens (L.) Poit is one of the species Lamiaceae family (Labiatae), is an aromatic plant and can produce essential oils. Essential oils of these plants can be utilized as antimicrobials. The chemical components contained in the essential oils in the same plant may vary as they are influenced by several factors, including the growth stage. Essential oils can be obtained by hydrodestilation and their components are analyzed using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). The essential oil components are then compared between those found in young leaves and adult leaves. The results of analysis and identification showed that in young leaves there are 50 components while in adult leaves there are only 37 components. The main components of young leaves were ?-caryophyllene (34.65%), germacrene-D (10.32%), ?-bergamotene (6.56%), ?-copaene (5.94%) and rimuene (6.46%), Are ?-caryophyllene (23.53%), germacrene-D (9.52%), ?-elemente (6.53%) and rimuene (13.19%). The components of ?-bergamotene and ?-copaene are not found in adult leaves.

Abstract

Study about degradation of methylene blue using photosonolysis method has been done. This research aims to investigate effect of variation radiation times, pH, and concentrations doping PEG (polyethylene glycol). The absorbance of samples was measured by a UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The result showed maximum time of irradiation to degradate methylene blue at 120 minutes, with percentage degradation is 94.55%. The effect of pH showed maximum pH at 7 with percentage degradation is 96,83%. Meanwhile, the effect of variation concentration doping PEG showed maximum result at ZnO-PEG 15%, with percentage degradation is 87,12%. Sample was characterization by XRD, FTIR and UV-DRS. The XRD pattern showed wurtzite (hexagonal) structure and has crystal size of 47-88 nm. FTIR spectrum showed that 425,33 cm-1 vibration strain for Zn-O. Analysis UV-DRS obtained band gap value is 3.19 eV.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan suatu plastik biodegradabel yang dapat terurai di alam, sehingga dapat menjadi salah satu solusi dalam penumpukan sampah plastik yang sulit diuraikan oleh alam. Plastik biodegradabel yang dihasilkan dari pencampuran limbah plastik polietilena jenis Low Density Polyetylene (LDPE) dengan pati Tandan kosong Sawit (TKS) yang dimodifikasi dengan menambahkan maleat anhidrida sebagai agen pengikat silang. Untuk menghasilkan plastik biodegradabel dilakukan variasi perbandingan tertentu antara limbah LDPE, pati TKS, maleat anhidrida dan benzoil peroksida (90:10:1:1), (80:20:1:1), (70:30:1:1), (60:40:1:1). Tahapan penelitian ini melakukan ekstraksi pati dari tandan kosong sawit (TKS), preparasi serbuk plastik biodegradabel dengan metode refluks menggunakan pelarut xilena dari berbagai variasi komposisi limbah LDPE, pati TKS, maleat anhidrida, dan benzoil peroksida, pencetakkan plastik biodegradabel dengan metode kempa tekan dan karakterisasi terhadap hasil plastik biodegradabel yaitu analisa sifat mekanik dengan uji kuat tarik dan kemuluran, analisa kemampuannya terurai di alam dengan uji biodegradabel, dan analisa sifat kimianya dengan uji FTIR. Dari hasil karakterisasi dapat diperoleh kondisi optimum plastik biodegradabel yang dihasilkan Plastik biodegradabel dengan perbandingan Limbah LDPE, Pati TKS, maleat anhidrida, benzoil peroksida (60:40:1:1) yang memiliki kemampuan terurai pada tanah sampah yaitu sebesar 9,032%, harga kuat tarik 6,9410 N/m2 dan nilai kemuluran 3,1875 %, analisa sifat kimia dengan uji FT-IR menunjukan bilangan gelombang yang khas untuk ikatan antara limbah LDPE-g-MA dan Pati TKS yaitu 1165,00 cm-1 yang menunjukan gugus fungsi C-O bending .

Abstract

Penelitian mengenai sintesis nanopartikel ZnO undoped dan doped Cu2+ telah dilakukan melalui metoda sol-gel, dengan menggunakan zink (II) asetat dihidrat sebagai prekursor, isopropanol sebagai pelarut, dan monoethanolamin sebagai zat aditif. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menentukan struktur, ukuran partikel, spektra FTIR dan band gap, serta menjelaskan morfologi permukaan ZnO doped Cu2+. Pada penelitian ini dilakukan penambahan dopan Cu2+ dengan variasi konsentrasi 3%.. Nanopartikel ZnO undoped dan doped Cu2+ diperoleh dari hasil pengeringan sol Zn(OH)2 pada suhu 110? selama 1 jam dan dikalsinasi pada suhu 500? selama 2 jam. Nanopartikel ZnO undoped dan doped Cu2+ dikarakterisasi menggunakan FTIR, UV-DRS, XRD, dan SEM. Analisa spektra FTIR menunjukkan serapan pada bilangan gelombang 475-575 cm-1 untuk ZnO undoped, regangan Zn-O dalam ZnO doped Cu2+ pada daerah bilangan gelombang 470 cm-1 , dan regangan Zn-O-Cu pada daerah bilangan gelombang 564 cm-1. Nilai band gap ZnO undoped dan doped Cu2+ yaitu ZnO undoped (3,1 eV), dan ZnO doped Cu2+ 3% (3,00 eV). Analisa menggunakan XRD menunjukkan beberapa puncak spesifik ZnO undoped dan doped Cu2+ dengan struktur kristal heksagonal wurzite dan ukuran kristal ZnO undoped berkisar antara 38-74 nm, ZnO doped Cu2+ 3% dan berkisar antara 45-101 nm. Mikrostruktur ZnO doped Cu2+ memberikan bentuk morfologi bulat (spheric) dengan ukuran diameternya sekitar 1-2 .

Abstract

The research has been conducted to find out the best concentration of coconut water in the induction of roots of cuttings axillary buds Andrographis paniculata Nees. This research was conducted in Plant Physilogy of Division, Department of Biology, Faculty of Math and Natural Science, AndalasUniversity, for 12 weeks. The research used Completely Randomized Design. The material used was axillary buds A. paniculata with nodal number 3. treated for 30 minutes in coconut water 10, 15 and 20% and aquadest as a controle each with 6 replications. Observations were done on live percentage, root length, root numerous and cuttings height after 12 weeks planting. The results showed that the concentration 10 to 15% of coconut water was able with significant to induce the root growth of cutting axillary buds A. Paniculat. The concentration 15% of coconut water was the best in inducing cutting height growth, each with an average root length is 8.2 cm and the average number of roots that formed is 16, 0 and the average cutting height is 22.7 cm. There was an increase of average of cuttings height growth by 86% which was supported by the average increase of root length and root number of 105.0% and 280.9% on the occasion of cuttings of axillary buds in coconut water concentration 15%.

Abstract

One type of pesticide that is widely used is a group of organophosphates with chlorpyrifos as the active ingredients, because it has more favorable characteristics such as easy to decompose and short persistence time. However, the use of pesticides in addition to leaving residues that can cause environmental pollution, also cause disruption to human health and inhibit trade. Therefore, it is necessary to monitor the use of pesticides through the fulfillment of the maximum residual limit (MRL) so as to ensure food safety by limiting pesticide residue levels on agricultural products. The purpose of this study was to determine the residual levels of chlorpyrifos in cabbage vegetables with previously optimized and validated HPLC methods. The sample of this research is vegetable cabbage taken from several traditional markets in North Sulawesi. Based on the results of the study, it was found that chlorpyrifos were detected in all samples analyzed, although the levels were still below the specified MRL value. The results of this study can be a consideration for consumers and relevant agencies in North Sulawesi to more frequently monitor and evaluate the existence and use of these compounds.

Abstract

This study was conducted to determine factors that affect the nutritional status of children under 5 years of age in Padang City West Sumatra based on weight-for-height using Classification and Regression Tree (CART). The study was carried out in 4 districts in Padang City. A Total of 311 under 5 years of age children was examined. Children nutritional status are assess using weight-for-height Z score complied with WHO standard for children growth. Factors those were hypothesized to influence children nutritional status were gender, age, family income, maternal education level, number of children and score of maternal knowledge about nutrition. Data were analyzed using tree classification methods namely CART method. It was found that there were 3 variables that affect children nutritional status i.e age, family income and maternal knowledge about nutrition.
