Abstract

Although large-scale religious conflicts such as the Ambon and Poso cases have ended, it does not mean that Indonesia has been able to get out of the danger zone of violence, which is based on religion. One of the latent dangers of religious-based violence can be found in Gunung Sari, Sambirejo, Prambanan, Sleman, Yogyakarta, in which there are three Islamic groups: NU, Muhammadiyah, and  Islam-Tawheed. Each group member has a different view, from religious rituals to their social interactions, even physical conflicts have occurred between them. For this reason, we are inte- rested in doing research as well as living there. Based on our research, it was found that no longer true of what Ahmad Salehudin had described in his previous research, today they appreciate religious differences and views about religion among them. Slowly but surely, they have practiced a pluralist theology (living Islam).

Abstract

Tarekat (Tariqa) is a Sufi brotherhood that contains and practices sufistic principles. In Sufism, there is a distinc- tive concept, namely zuhud. Zuhud is the emptiness of the desire for something, which means limiting the desire to get something worldly or pleasure (profane). At this point, it can be seen that in the Sufistic tradition it should be to avoid the desire for something profane, including politics. However, Tarekat Hizib Nahdlatul Wathan as a tarekat appeared to be actively involved in politics, even the founder and murshid of the Tarekat Hizib Nahdlatul Wathan became the main figure in politics in Lombok. This is important to note, because on the one hand the Tarekat Hizib Nahdlatul Wathan is a tarekat but on the other hand it appears to be actively involved in politics. Therefore, the authors are interested in discussing more about the Tarekat Hizib Nahdlatul Wathan and its con- tribution to politics in Lombok. This article will explain the study of living sufism of the Tarekat Hizib Nahdlatul Wathan.

Abstract

Today there have been many studies of Sufism, but not many studies have discussed the involvement and contribution of women in the realm of Islamic mysticism in particular. This fact cannot be used as an excuse to say that Sufism, especially Islam, completely ignores the position and contribution of women. The few studies, once again, cannot be used as an excuse that women have little contribution and position in the development and spread of Sufism's teachings, doctrines and prac- tices. This paper discusses the equality of women and men not only in the conceptual level as stated in the Qur'an and Hadith. Furthermore, a number of female Sufi fig- ures such as Rabi'ah Adawiyah, Aishah al-Ba'uniyyah, Jahan Malek Khatun, Mahsati Ganjavi (Persia), Habba Khatoon, Jahanara Begum (India), were shown, which proved that women had equal opportunities in achieving spiritual knowledge.

Abstract

The term "kaafir" (infidel) has existed since the time of the Prophet Muhammad.  In the Koran, it is stated that kaafir is a person who does not believe that Allah Swt. as God Almighty, people who worship idols, and Ahl Kitab (Jewish and Christian). The meaning of this term then changed, not only aimed at non-Muslims but also addressed to Muslims themselves. Muhammad  al- Maqdisi accused kaafir of those who did bid'ah, for those who made laws and those who followed laws other than the laws of the Koran and al-Hadith—then the Law, the 1945 Constitution, and Pancasila included kaafir products. As a consequence, they have been considered apostates and truly have become non-Muslims, and their blood is halal to be killed. The question is "how did the takfiri ideological concept according to Muhammad al-Maqdisi relate to religion and state".

Abstract

The narration of Burdah reading became a feature of understanding in the religious life of the Jaddung community, Pragaan, Sumenep, Madura, East Java. In the Burdah reading has been a displacement meaning, from praise and expressions of love to the Prophet to the treatment of people who feel pain. Religious rituals and their behavior indicate a deviation in their religious understanding. This has even led to the sacredness of hope for life or death. The anxiety shows the process of changing or shifting the meaning of the Burdah tradition from praise to treatment. This happened because of the construction of people's knowledge to respond to the out- break of Ta'on disease in the 1960s, sick without cause in the 1970s, and people who had long been seriously ill in the 1980s. When awareness of health and knowledge develops as it is today, the tradition of Burdah reading continues to be a theological conviction to understand about life's hopes or hopes about reality regarding death. This reality encourages the writer to examine it more seriously with Gadamer's Hermeneutic analysis. The focus of this study leads to the existence of the Burdah tradition, understanding narration, and the theology of community expectations of Jaddung, Pragaan, Sumenep, East Java.
