Eventhough there were pros and cons about a new curriculum, in the early academic year of 2013-2014 the Ministry of Education and Culture made an arrangement of new curriculum 2013. The curriculum would be done in classification (step by step) for basic education (elementary and secondary school) and also middle education. This study aims to get some information about the reason of the curriculum was designed. Moreover research used literature study to learn and understand the reason about government’s decision to implement the curriculum. The results showed that the curriculum is essentially an effort to simplify the curriculum using thematic-integrative model and emphasizing on natural, social, art, and culture phenomena. The emphasis is to enhance the ability of learners (students) to observe, ask, use their reason and communicate (present) their knowledge after receiving learning materials at school. Nonetheless, there are some things that should have serious attention from the government, which, if they are not anticipated, become obstacles to the successful implementation of the curriculum 2013. These things include training of the teachers and other education personnels to implement the curriculum 2013, the availability of handbook for teachers and students, as well as the governance readiness in education unit-level.

The rise of separatism that raises with the emergence of separatist groups with their idealistic-communal ideas to create a more democratic and more equitable life recently is quite apprehensive. It is felt in the midst of efforts from various parties—both the government and non-government—to preserve the unity and unification of Indonesia. Should this problem be solved with horizontal conflict and separation option (disintegration) regarding that conflict can’t be and will never be the best solution for problems. This article was made as a response to the related nationality problem with the expectation that this can be one alternative solution for an existing problem-solving effort.

Chinese language is one of the typical isolated languages. It lacks morphological variation; part of speech has no morphological signs; the additional component of word formation is less; and the roots never change their forms. The major method of Chinese word formation is the combination of roots according to certain grammatical relations. Although the affix word formation is not part of mainstream Chinese word formation, affix-formation is still an integral part of the Chinese word-formation. Article used literature review, summarized the types and meanings of Chinese affixes. And meanwhile, article analyzed word formation function of Chinese Affixes and quasi-affixes. The Chinese quasi-affixes have stronger capabilities in forming new words, but development direction of Chinese quasi-affixes has to stand the test of time.

Vocabulary is a foundation of a language. Like a building that cannot stand without having a foundation, neither can a sentence be formed without vocabulary. In learning a language, the more students are able to expand their vocabulary knowledge, the better they will gain proficiency in using the language. Specifically, when learning Mandarin, students must understand clearly what morpheme and word and the difference between morpheme and words as well as their relevant application. Consequently, as students improve their vocabulary knowledge and its application, they will be able to express better language proficiency. This paper used literature and observational study.

This study began with the researcher’s interest to transform learning strategy in Japanese computer which has been longstanding in conventional way. In previous studies the Jigsaw cooperative strategy had been tested in the exact sciences in College. The researcher was challenged to bring the instructional materials of Japanese computer which are felt quite hard by students to be easier with mutual assistance. Heavy load materials are minimized. Learners must actively explore materials; it is not only from the teacher. The Jigsaw cooperative strategy was tested on three-semester students in order to determine the effectiveness of Jigsaw cooperative in Japanese computer learning. This study used pure experiment. The design involved two groups of subjects, one given by the experimental treatment with the Jigsaw cooperative strategy (experimental group) and the other group (control group) with usual learning technique. Data were taken in two ways: quantitative by making instruments such pretest and posttest to the two classes and qualitative by interview to complete the descriptive data analysis result. Furthermore, all results of the pretest and posttest were analyzed by measuring the normality and t-test to determine how the Jigsaw strategy successfully applied on the samples. To collaborate the results, the interviews were transcribed to see the response from samples on the Jigsaw cooperative strategy in Japanese computer learning. Results of the test data analysis in the experimental group and the control group showed that the Jigsaw cooperative strategy was proved more effective in Japanese computer learning than the conventional method usually used.

Cultural association analysis of color is an approach to know color from the side of culture. Unlike the previous color studies which see the color from the aspect of psychology, this research of color aims to provide insight based on the colors from local culture. Johannes Itten’s theory of color was used as a basis of thought in this research. The theory was reflected to Indonesian cultures, and this time, represented by Java island. Research used qualitative method by literature study, interviewing the color experts, historians and artists, visiting cultural centers. Results of the research are in the form of morphological matrix cultural over color. Matrix of analysis resulted in argument and study proposal. Students implemented the color schemes from 5 big cities in Java. They were asked to change the color composition of food and beverage packaging. Students may use, explore, and maximize the principle of color in visual communication to achieve contrast and balance.
