Abstract

Tourism is one of the most important sectors supporting the economy of Indonesia. One way to develop the Indonesian tourism is strengthening the image of Indonesia in the world. To strengthen the image, Indonesia has replaced the old brand, ?Visit Indonesia?, and launched a new brand, ?Wonderful Indonesia?. Besides the logo, in order to campaign ?Wonderful Indonesia,? some television commercials have been launched. An advertising, which creates a powerful image, not only has a great power to influence the viewers but can also be a double-edged sword. Advertising can become a mirror of reality, but it can also become a distorted mirror of reality. A similar case happens with Wonderful Indonesia television commercial, which was released early in 2012 by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy. The television commercial is considered to have distorted the image of Indonesia in the world by displaying only the culture, society, and nature of Java and Bali. Meanwhile, the other Wonderful Indonesia television commercial, ?Feeling is Believing,? which was launched by Indonesia Tourism Board in 2012 considered to have become quite successful framing the beauty, and diversity of the cultures, communities, regions, and natures of Indonesia. Learning from the mistakes, and considering the importance of an image, the future Wonderful Indonesia television commercial should be dealt more carefully. The image that is proper to represent Indonesia, the visual signifier should reflect the intended signified precisely.

Advertising has many purposes including the formation of consciousness, creating the image of the product or brand, forming positive associations and encouraging consumer behavior. Basically, the purpose of advertising is to achieve economic hegemony of the producers of goods or service advertised. Ads are increasingly being used for the benefit of the capitalists. Corporate advertising researchers usually discuss the effects of advertising on the form of company image only. But this research is not going to reveal about the image of a company that advertised, but about the creator ideology behind the creation of a corporate Advertising. The corporate Ads examined in this study is a series of Gudang Garam corporate advertisement which consists of two ads that aired on television every Ramadan. The research method used is French critical discourse analysis and analytical method of Sara Mill. This study uses substantive theoretical framework such as hegemony, ideology, patriarchy, and Marxist feminism and the discourse analysis theory from Michael Foucault and semiotic theory of Roland Barthes. The results of this  study showed that the ideology of the ad creator which is very patriarchal makes the text of the Gudang Garam corporate ads aired on all television stations every Ramadan, was laden with the existence of gender stereotypes.

Abstract

This paper describes the legal justice. There is a view that justice is based on the provisions of law. This means that a fair punishment would be called as fair when the punishment was in accordance with the provisions of law. This view does not question whether the content or provision of the law is fair or not. According to the authors, legal justice is not only dependent on the provision of law, but also the content of the law itself. Justice is fair, not only depend on the provisions of the law, but also on the content of the law. The content of the law must be built on the principles of fair respect for human dignity. It is means that the law is fair, not merely because that law is applied to everyone, but also it is not contrary to human dignity.
