Abstract

This research showed that Indonesian agricultural biomasses, such as Siam orange peel, Medan orange peel, Durian peel and old tea leaves contain a pectin that are a potential material for use as a substrate for pectinase production. From the four types of biomasses used, Medan orange peel produced pectinase activity with the highest value equal to 1.28 U/mL. Optimization of fermentation conditions showed that Aspergillus ustus BL5 pectinase production were affected by the concentration of substrate, media pH, and temperature of the fermentation. Optimization of process showed that the optimum substrate concentration, pH and temperatuter were 10%, 4 and 40C with pectinase activity of 1.37 U/mL, 2.85 U/mL, and 1.92 U/mL respectively. Pectin content in the medium has a proportional relationship with the activity of the enzyme pectinase produced. The high content of pectin in Medanorange peel making pectinase enzyme activity produced on the substrate is also high.

Abstract

This paper proposed a robustness watermarking scheme against various attacks based on Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) in fi ve different positions of the host image area. The scheme comprises the level of watermark resistance and the level of host image perceptibility against various attacks. Here, the level of resistance of a watermark image can be seen from the value of Normalized Correlation Coeffi cient (NC). Meanwhile, the level of perceptibility of an image of host image can be seen from the value of its Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR). In this proposed research, a method of the Non Blind Discrete in which a host image is required in the process of extraction is used. This watermark, furthermore, is positioned in a visible way in fi ve different positions of the host image; those are on the upper left, lower left, upper right, lower right and on the middle. For the type of attacks, this research uses geometric attacks consisting of Rotation, Scaling and Cropping. The result of this research then shows the level of resistance and the level of perceptibility for all images, and obtains the most robust watermark scheme against various attacks.

Abstract

UK-3A is a minor compound from the mycelium of Streptomyces sp.517-02 and had been isolated. It has IC50 38 ?g/mL against P388 Murine Leukemia cells. Products of UK-3A analogues were assigned the name A and B compounds. These compounds were prepared from L-serine methyl ester-HCl as starting material and synthesized by amidation and esterifi cation. The products were determined by TLC, FT-IR, MS and NMR instruments. Theoverall yield was compounds A 95.63% and B 87.10%. The in vitro anticancer activities of compounds A and B against the same Leukemia cells and found to have IC50 46.5?g/mL and 15.4?g/mL, respectively. The compound B exhibited higher inhibitory activity than UK-3A.

Abstract

This paper discusses power curve prediction of small scale wind turbine for a battery charger. The proposed prediction method does not require the data of wind speed but refers to the generator characteristic instead. The method is based on wind turbine power equation initiated with determining the value of Cp, then establishes the powerwind speed and shaft speedwind speed correlations. For simplicity, this method ignores aerodynamic factor of the system. The simulation result in the form of wind turbine power curve (power versus wind speed graph) is then compared with the characteristics of commercial wind turbine and demonstrates rational values of cut-in and cut-out wind speed.

Abstract

Cumene has been synthesized from rosin oil through cracking and dehydrogenation reactions using modified HZSM-5 catalyst. The research has successfully modifi ed the zeolite-based solid acid catalyst by adding Cu-Niand Ni-Mo metal as promoter. Modifi ed HZSM-5 catalysts were characterized using gravimetry and FTIR-pyridine method, and the result showed that the acidity of the catalyst was decreased. Catalyst activity test for cracking anddehydrogenation reactions were carried out to obtain condition of cumene production. The fi nal products were analyzed using GC-MS. Cu-Ni/HZSM-5 catalyst was suitable for the cracking-dehydrogenation reactions of rosinoil to produce cumene with process conditions of 30 bar and 450oC.

Abstract

Nanocrystalline alloys of Fe90-xMn10Alx (x= 10, 20, 30, and 40 at. %) were prepared via mechanical alloying technique using Fe, Mn, and Al commercial powders with a 48-hr milling time. Mssbauer spectroscopy show hyperfine field distribution (HFD) varied according to Fe content. HFD with concentration of x = 10, 20 dan 30 at. % repealed sexted structure and to be narrow with increasing of concentration x, and HFD shifted to smaller field value, i. e. 298.6, 262.6 and 240.8 kOe. For smallest Fe content (x = 40 at. %) repealed singlet spectrum with positive isomer (? ? 0,067 mm / s) without detected the HFD.

Abstract

The analysis of determination of defi brillation energy effect on Electrocardiograph (ECG) according to IEC 60601-2-27: 2005 has been conducted in order to measure the energy reduction during defi brillation process on EKG. The result showed the energy differences before and after being connected to ECG was 4,408%.
