Abstract

UK-3A is a minor compound from the mycelium of Streptomyces sp.517-02 and had been isolated. It has IC50 38 ?g/mL against P388 Murine Leukemia cells. Products of UK-3A analogues were assigned the name A and B compounds. These compounds were prepared from L-serine methyl ester-HCl as starting material and synthesized by amidation and esterifi cation. The products were determined by TLC, FT-IR, MS and NMR instruments. Theoverall yield was compounds A 95.63% and B 87.10%. The in vitro anticancer activities of compounds A and B against the same Leukemia cells and found to have IC50 46.5?g/mL and 15.4?g/mL, respectively. The compound B exhibited higher inhibitory activity than UK-3A.

This research uses an ethnopedagogical approach with in-depth interviews and direct observation. There are several results of this research. First, the Indonesian language teaching materials at SDN Teluk Tiram 2 currently do not include Banjar culture. Second, cucupatian can be included in the descriptive text material in chapter 6 "Satu Titik" with the teaching module "Cucupatian Descriptive Text" and physical teaching media "Cuba Pang". Third, teaching materials can increase insight into Banjar culture, Banjar and Indonesian vocabulary, and can trigger the implementation of a thematic approach in the Merdeka Curriculum. In addition, it can be an example of making a culture-based teaching module. Keywords: teaching materials; cucupatian; Indonesian Abstrak: Artikel ini memaparkan pengembangan bahan ajar bahasa Indonesia berdasar cucupatian untuk siswa SD kelas IV. Abstract

This study aims to investigate the role of Indonesian in reducing English speaking anxiety in junior high school students. The study was conducted at MTs Negeri 4 Sidoarjo in the 2024/2025 academic year, with a population of all eighth-grade students. The sample was determined purposively by nine students from class 8D representing three participation categories: active, shy, and passive. The instruments used were classroom observation and semi-structured interviews to explore students’ experiences regarding the use of Indonesian during English learning. Data were analyzed thematically through the stages of transcription, coding, categorization, and interpretation. The results showed that Indonesian has different functions for each group of students. Active students use it as a supporting tool to maintain fluency in speaking and increase confidence when having difficulty remembering English vocabulary. Shy students use it as a bridge when forgetting words or being unsure about constructing sentences, so they can remain engaged without withdrawing. Passive students rely heavily on Indonesian as a shield to reduce their fear of mistakes or ridicule, allowing them to participate, albeit with limited proficiency. These findings confirm that Indonesian is not a barrier, but rather a strategic resource that can help reduce anxiety, maintain engagement, and support the gradual improvement of speaking skills. Therefore, teachers are advised to implement a flexible and strategic bilingual approach to create a supportive classroom atmosphere, emphasize participation over perfection, and build students’ confidence in communicating in English.

Abstract

This qualitative study investigates the role of animated video design in English language learning by examining student experiences in junior high school classrooms. As educational technology continues to evolve, animated videos have become an increasingly popular tool to facilitate language acquisition. This research explores how specific design elements such as visuals, narrative flow, character development, and audio features influence students’ engagement, motivation, and cognitive processing. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and classroom observations involving junior high school students. Findings indicate that well-crafted animated videos can create an immersive and stimulating learning environment that supports comprehension and retention of English language concepts. Additionally, students emphasized the significance of relatable characters and clear storylines in maintaining their interest and enhancing understanding. The study provides practical insights for educators and content creators aiming to optimize animated video design for effective language learning.

Abstract

Attention of students is an important aspect of effective learning since it directly determines comprehension, memory and classroom participation. But focus is also an issue as it is easy to lose track with distractions, mental exhaustion and the repetitive ways of teaching. The purpose of this study was to determine the causes of inattention among 7th grade students of SMP Negeri 19 Surabaya in the 2024-2025 academic year. A sample of 33 students was used through completion of questionnaires and five students were used in semi-structured interviews to learn more about their lived experiences. The thematic analysis showed that the lapses of attention were not consistent but were always situational, with noisy peers, lack of clarity when explaining the concepts to the students, and fatigue being the most prevalent reasons. Students used to deal with losing focus by doodling, chatting or switching seats or making personal notes. The results show that the attention depends not only on the internal state of students but also on the classroom ecology and the quality of instruction. In theory, this research expands the knowledge on the maintenance of attention by autonomy-supportive environments. In practice, it implies that educators can make their classes more focused by incorporating interactive instruction, gamified learning, and brief brain-break exercises to establish dynamic and psychologically supportive learning environments.

Abstract

This study focuses on how the teacher manages learning media in English classes by comparing the teacher's reflective practices and the contents of teaching modules as official guides. The background of this study departs from the gap between the creativity of the teacher in the classroom and the administrative approach that is reflected in the learning documents. This study uses a qualitative case study design to describe in depth the practice of learning media management in schools. The data collected through in-depth interviews with teacher and document analysis of teaching modules. These two types of data used thematic analysis by applying triangulation methods to ensure the validity of the findings and reinforce the interpretation of the results. The results show that teacher actively choose and modify the media to be more interesting and in accordance with the ability of students, while also preparing alternatives when faced with technical obstacles. In contrast, the teaching module displays only standard media without reflection on their effectiveness or barriers to use. These findings indicate that teacher practice is more innovative than the content of teaching modules that are procedural. The research discussion emphasizes the need to integrate teacher's practical reflections into learning documents so that planning becomes more adaptive, contextual, and responsive to student needs.
