Abstract

In this paper, a new approach to the design of an UWB monopole antenna with dual band-notched characteristics is presented.   The antenna has the form of an elliptical monopole over a ground plane having an elliptical slot to achieve the UWB. The dual-band notch function is created by inserting a U-shaped and a C-shaped slots on the radiating patch, thus no extra size is needed. The proposed antenna shows a good omnidirectional radiation pattern across the band from 3.2 to more than 14 GHz. The dual band-rejection is for 4.88-5.79GHz centered at 5.4GHz and 7.21-8.46 GHz centered at 7.8 GHz. The antenna prototype using the FR-4 substrate with εr=4.3 has a compact size of 25mm×25 mm ×1.45mm. The fabricated prototype showed experimental results comparable to those obtained from the simulations.

Abstract

This article presents a cascaded three-level voltage source converter (VSC) based STATCOM employing an artificial neuron network (ANN) controller with a new simple circuit of space vector pulse width modulation (SVPWM) technique. The main aim of utilizing ANN controller and SVPWM technique is to minimize response time (RT) of STATCOM and improve its performance regard to PF amplitude, and total harmonic distortion (THD) of VSC output current during the period of lagging/leading PF loads (inductive/capacitive loads). The performance of STATCOM is tested using MATLAB/SIMULINK in IEEE 3-bus system. The simulation results clearly proved that the STATCOM with intelligent controller is more efficient compared to a conventional controller (PI controller), where ANN enables the voltage and current to be in the same phase rapidly (during 1.5 cycles) with THD less than 5%.

Abstract

Femtocell is a promising technology that intends in solving the indoor coverage problems so as to enhance the cell capacity. The overall network performance, in turn depends on the access methods used by the femtocells. The access method is used to identify about the user’s connectivity with the femtocell network. There are three access mechanisms defined in Third Generation partnership Project (3GPP) specification for Long Term Evolution (LTE) femtocells: open, closed and hybrid access mechanisms. Hybrid access mechanism is mostly preferred by the network for the effective utilization of resources. But, it is important to regulate the proper scheduling scheme for them. In this paper, scheduling in femtocell is investigated, where, among the non subscribers, preference is given to the users who have high throughput priority metric, thereby increasing overall throughput of the network.

Abstract

The research of a single stage broadband solid-state power amplifier based on ATF13876 transistor, which operates in the frequency ranging from 1.25 GHz ~3.3 GHz is presented in this paper. To achieve the broadband performance of the operating bandwidth, a multi-section quarter wave impedance transformer and an approximate transformation of previously synthesized lumped elements into transmission lines are adopted. With neatly design of broadband matching networks and biasing circuit, excellent matching performances and unconditionally stability are achieved over the whole operating bandwidth with a maximum gain of 17.2 dB. The large signal simulation shows that the proposed circuit reaches a saturated output power of 18.12 dBm with a maximum PAE of 27.55% and a 1-dB compression point at 5 dBm input power level. Considering the wide frequency coverage, the features of the proposed design compares favorably with the contemporary state-of-the-art.

Abstract

Beamforming (BF) technique in cooperative multiple input multiple output (MIMO) antenna arrays improves signal to noise ratio (SNR) of the intended user. The challenge is to design transmit beamforming vectors for every user while limiting the co-channel interference (CCI) from other users. In this paper, we proposed cooperative beamforming based on Signal-to-Leakage Ratio (SLR) to exploit the leakage power as a useful power in the second time slot after user cooperation, for this purpose successive interference cancellation (SIC) is employed in each user to separate the leakage signal from the desired signal. Without increasing the complexity, Maximizing Signal-to-Leakage Ratio (SLR) subject to proposed power constraint instead of a unity norm is the way to achieve extra leakage power. To reduce the erroneous, Bose–Chaudhuri–Hocquenghem (BCH) codes employed in Beamforming of (SIC) cooperative scheme BF(CS-SIC-BCH). Maximum-likelihood (ML) estimator method is used at each user receiver. Simulation results show that the performance of the proposed scheme BF (CS-SIC-BCH) over Rayleigh and Rician fading channel is significantly better than the performance beamforming based on SLR in Non-cooperative system. More specifically to achieve a BER of about the required SNR for the proposed scheme is about 1 dB less than the Non-cooperative system.

Abstract

Security as well as energy efficiency is one of the most inevitable and challenging problems when it comes it large scale network deployment like INternet-of-Things (IoT). After reviewing existing research work on IoT, it was found that there are discrete set of solution for security as well as for energy. However, there is little research work that has jointly investigated both the problems with respect to IoT. Apart from this, there are also various form of attacks that cost energy of sensors that constitutes core physical devices in IoT. Therefore, these manuscripts present a novel idea for identifying and resisting the security breach within an IoT system ensuring energy efficiency too. Harnessing the modelling capability of game-theory, the proposed system offers a joint solution towards these problems. The simulated outcome of the study is found to offer balance performance for better energy efficiency and robust threat mitigation capability when compared with existing approaches.

This paper reflects on the indemnity of women in our society. The proposed model ensures the embodiment of a mobile application. The algorithm, we developed for this model focuses the safety issues which is applicable to both inside as well as outside of the house for the women in Bangladesh. The solution of this problems can be done through some interrelated features such as i) SOS button pressing which ensures automatic calling, instant location tracking system through GPS of the phone and sending tracked location to all trusted numbers, automatically secrete video recording system ii) voice command detection which assures exact same features as SOS button pressing iii) phone shaking features serve user instant immunity by calling a trusted number. This research also assures experimented data analysis at Dhaka city based on respond time, the time it takes to arrive the SMS and Phone call and current location of the victim. Also do a short comparison among the most popular safety related mobile applications.

Abstract

Face recognition and gender classification are vital topics in the field of computer graphic and pattern recognition. We utilized ideas from two growing ideas in computer vision, which are biological landmarks and quasi-landmarks (dense mesh) to propose a novel approach to compare their performance in face recognition and gender classification. The experimental work is conducted on FRRGv2 dataset and acquired 98% and 94% face recognition accuracies using the quasi and biological landmarks respectively. The gender classification accuracies are 92% for quasi-landmarks and 90% for biological landmarks.

Abstract

Handwritten digits recognition is an area of machine learning, in which a machine is trained to identify handwritten digits. One method of achieving this is with decision tree classification model. A decision tree classification is a machine learning approach that uses the predefined labels from the past known sets to determine or predict the classes of the future data sets where the class labels are unknown. In this paper we have used the standard kaggle digits dataset for recognition of handwritten digits using a decision tree classification approach. And we have evaluated the accuracy of the model against each digit from 0 to 9.
