Abstract

This paper presents a novel control strategy to control DG integrated DVR (dynamic voltage restorer) for mitigation voltage quality problems. Power quality is the most concerning areas in power engineering and voltage quality is of prime focus. Voltage sag, voltage swell and harmonics in voltage causes deterioration in quality of voltage delivered to load. A minor disturbance in voltage profile can degrade the performance of load. Dynamic voltage restorer is a quick responsive custom power device for voltage quality improvement. Photovoltaic (PV) system is considered as DG and output voltage of PV system is boosted with a boost converter to support voltage source converter of DVR. DG integrated DVR with novel control strategy for mitigation of voltage sag, swell and voltage harmonic is presented in this paper. The power system model with DG integrated DVR is developed and results are obtained using MATLAB/SIMULINK. Results are discussed during pre and post sag/swell condition with compensation and THD in voltage is maintained within nominal values.

Abstract

Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) is one of the essential controller operations of any Photo-Voltaic (PV) cell design. Developing an efficient MPPT system includes a significant challenge as there are various forms of uncertainty factors that results in higher degree of fluctuation in current and voltage in PV cell. After reviewing existing system, it has been found that there is no presence of any benchmarked model to ensure a better form of computational model. Hence, this paper presents a novel and very simple design of MPPT without using any form of complex design mechanism nor including any form of frequently used iterative approach. The proposed model is completely focused on developing an algorithm that takes the input of voltage (open circuit), current (short circuit), and max power in order to obtain the peak power to be extracted from the PV cells. The study outcome shows faster response time and better form of analysis of current-voltage-power for given state of PV cells.

Abstract

The rapid progress of technology has imposed significant challenges on Printed Circuit Boards (PCB) designers. Once of those challenges is to satisfy the electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) compliance requirements. For that reason, EMC compliance must be considered earlier at the design stage for time and cost savings. Conventionally, full wave simulation is employed to check whether the designed PCB meets EMC standards or not. However, this method is not a suitable option since it requires intensive computational time and thus increasing the unit cost. This paper describes novel analytical models for estimating the radiated emissions (RE) of PCB. These models can be used to help the circuit designer to modify their circuit based on the maximum allowable RE comparing to the relevant EMC-RE standard limit. Although there are many RE sources on PCB, this paper focuses on the significant source of RE on PCB; namely PCB-traces. The trace geometry, termination impedance, dielectric type, etc. can be specified based on the maximum allowable emissions. The proposed models were verified by comparing the results of the proposed models with both simulation and experimental results. Good agreements were obtained between the analytically computed results and simulation/measurement results with accuracy of ±3dB.

Abstract

This paper studies the issue the information security for smartphone users in Russia. The report analyses the regulations the state uses to prevent undeclared functionality and malicious programs in mobile phones in Russia; the law enforcement practice in this area; the responsibility of legal entities, officials and persons for non-compliance with the requirements for standardization, ensuring information security and violation of declaration of conformity. The paper develops proposals to improve state regulation of undeclared functionality of mobile devices providing the collection of information, including confidential data. The report discusses specific ethical issues related to privacy, including matters relating to compensation for damage resulting from the leakage of personal information and develops proposals for legal ensuring the information security of mobile phone users. The report first outlines the main actors, terms and concepts used in the report. Second the standards for mobile phone developers, although there is no guarantee of complete information security. In this case, the peculiarity of Russia is that standards used in the field of information security are voluntary. Third how law enforcement agencies protect the user community. In this case there is a potential danger that this may entail uncontrolled access of government agencies to confidential data.

Abstract

In this paper, a low leakage multi Vth level shifter is designed for robust voltage shifting from sub threshold to above threshold domain using MTCMOS technique and sleepy keeper. MTCMOS is an effective circuit level technique that improves the performance and design by utilizing both low and high threshold voltage transistors. Leakage power dissipation has become an overriding concern for VLSI circuit designers. In this a “sleepy keeper” approach is preferred which reduces the leakage current while saving exact logic state. The new  low-power level shifter using sleepy keeper is compared with the previous work for different values of the lower supply voltage. When the circuits are individually analyzed for power consumption at 45nm CMOS technology, the new level shifter offer significant power savings up to 37% as compared to the previous work. Alternatively, when the circuits are individually analyzed for minimum propagation delay, speed is enhanced by up to 48% with  our approach to the circuit. All the simulation results are based on 45nm CMOS technology and  simulated in cadence tool.DOI:http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/ijece.v3i5.3166

Abstract

E-commerce is a sub-part of E-business which includes all kinds of functions and business activities by using electronic data that has the main purpose to increase corporate profits. One of the strategies used is to automate the existing tasks in E-commerce by utilizing web service facilities, which will significantly save time. The use of smartphones as a primary means of information and communication forces web service application providers to improve their services and facilities, such as websites that can be opened quickly and lightly on smartphone devices. This paper will discuss the benefits of accelerated mobile pages as a coding accelerator tool in the javaScript programming language using XML, HTML and XHTML programming as well as involving the use of SOAP, WSDL and NuSOAP that will run on both HTTP and HTTPS protocols. Using accelerated mobile pages as a means of accelerator tool on E-commerce in E-business can directly improve web service performance. This is very prominent when the site is accessed through a smartphone that has limited resources, in the form of website access will feel fast, easy and light.

Abstract

Images are integral part in our daily lives. With a normal camera it is not possible to get a wide angle panorama with high resolution. Image Mosaicing is one of the novel techniques, for combining two or more images of the same scene taken in different views into one image. In the dark areas, the obtained image is a panoramic image with high resolution without mask. But in the case of lighting areas, the resultant image is generating mask. In order to gets wide angle panorama, in the existing system, extracting feature points, finding the best stitching line, Cluster Analysis (CA) and Dynamic Programming (DP) methods are used. Also used Weighted Average (WA) method for smooth stitching results and also eliminate intensity seam effectively. In the proposed system, to get feature extraction and feature matching SIFT (Scaled Invariant Feature Transform) algorithm used. In this process, outliers can be generated. RANSAC (Random Sample Consensus) is used for detecting the outliers from the resultant image. Masking is significantly reduced by using Algebraic Reconstruction Techniques (ART).

Abstract

In this research, a novel property of activated carbon powder (AC powder) has been utilized to realize a disposable paper-based battery. AC powder was loaded on a 3D carbon paper substrate to make the anode. The cathode was integrated directly on the paper-based battery case by coating multiwalled carbon nanotube mixed with potassium ferricyanide on a side of a sheet of filter paper, the other side worked as a paper-based proton exchange membrane. This design provides a simple but practical disposable water-activated battery. The developed battery generated the maximum power density of 10.4 µW/cm2 at the AC powder concentration of 17 mg/cm2. Although, the output power of the battery is low, it is made of low-cost and abundant materials, and therefore being able to scale up. The battery is a disposable and on-demand micropower generation activated anytime, anywhere by water.

Abstract

The need for accurate load forecasts will increase in the future because of the dramatic changes occurring in the electricity consumption. Sugeno fuzzy inference system (FIS) can be used for short-term load forecasting. However, challenges in the electrical load forecasting are the data used the data trend. Therefore, it is difficult to develop appropriate fuzzy rules for Sugeno FIS. This paper proposes Evolution Strategy method to determine appropriate rules for Sugeno FIS that have minimum forecasting error. Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) is used to evaluate the goodness of the forecasting result. The numerical experiments show the effectiveness of the proposed optimized Sugeno FIS for several test-case problems. The optimized Sugeno FIS produce lower RMSE comparable to those achieved by other well-known method in the literature.

Abstract

The important task in the computer interaction is the languages recognition and classification. In the Arab world, there is a persistent need for the Arabic spoken language recognition To help those who have lost the upper parties in doing what they want through speech computer interaction. While, the Arabic automatic speech recognition (AASR) did not receive the desired attention from the researchers. In this paper, the Radial Basis Function(RBF) is used for the improvement of the Arabic spoken language letter. The recognition and classification process are based on three steps; these are; preprocessing, feature extraction and classification (Recognition). The Arabic  Language Letters  (ALL) recognition is done by using the combination between the statistical features and the Temporal Radial Basis Function for different letter situation and noisy condition. The recognition percent are from 90% - 99.375% has been gained with independent speaker, where these results are over-perform the earlier works by nearly 2.045%. The simulati.on has been made by using Matlab 2015b.
