Abstract

This paper presents an investigation on the enhancement of electrical insulations of power cables materials using a new multi-nanoparticles technique. It has been studied the effect of adding specified types and concentrations of nanoparticles to polymeric materials such as PVC for controlling on electric and dielectric performance. Prediction of effective dielectric constant has been done for the new nanocomposites based on Interphase Power Law (IPL) model. The multi-nanoparticles technique has been succeeded for enhancing electric and dielectric performance of power cables insulation compared with adding individual nanoparticles. Finally, it has been investigated on electric field distribution in the new proposed modern insulations for three-phase core belted power cables. This research has focused on studying development of PVC nanocomposite materials performance with electric field distribution superior to the unfilled matrix, and has stressed particularly the effect of filler volume fraction on the electric field distribution.

Abstract

The elastic behaviour of a system can be determined by an analysis of stresses. The stress generated in the element loaded of an accelerometer is of interest here. In these devices, the suspension beams are the elements subjected to greater stresses, as they support the mass. The stress that they can support is limited by the elastic limit of the material. Based on this analysis, the operating conditions to prevent permanent deformations are determined. The analysis is focused on the acceleration applied to the accelerometer because this parameter increases considerably the stresses in the device. A relationship between normal stress and gravity applied is obtained. This equation is used in order to avoid exceeding the elastic limit, during the accelerometer operation. This fact determines the acceleration range supported by the device. In the literature, studies about the physics and modelling of accelerometers are performed. However, about the specific acceleration of operation which they are subjected, information about its determination is not provided. In this paper, the analysis is realized considering a Conventional Capacitive Accelerometer (CCA) and a Capacitive Accelerometer with Extended Beams (CAEB), particularly, on the normal stress. When a range of acceleration values are applied, normal stress occur which must not exceed the elastic limit of the material, as it was mentioned before. The Matlab code used to calculate this relationship is given in Appendix A.

Abstract

The Problem of Automatic Generation Control of large interconnected multi-area system is necessitated by the importance of maintenance of frequency and tie-line flows at their scheduled values. Disturbance in any part of the power system network has its effect on the frequency and tie-line power flows of the entire network. Thus, It is the responsibility of the Power system engineers to ensure that adequate power is delivered to the load reliably and economically so that nominal condition will be re-established. This Research paper aims to represents how nominal value can be achieved by close loop control of real and reactive powers generated in the controllable source of the system with the help of conventional controllers.DOI:http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/ijece.v2i4.305

Abstract

Memory significantly affects the power consumption of embedded systems as well as performance. CPU frequency scaling for power management could fail in optimizing the energy efficiency without considering the memory access. In this paper, we analyze the power consumption and energy efficiency of an embedded system that supports dynamic scaling of frequency for both CPU and memory access. The power consumption of the CPU and the memory is modeled to show that the memory access rate affects the energy efficiency and the CPU frequency selection. Based on the power model, a method for frequency selection is presented to optimize the power efficiency which is measured using Energy-Delay Product (EDP). The proposed method is implemented and tested on a commercial smartphone to achieve about 3.3% - 7.6% enhancement comparing with the power management policy provided by the manufacturer in terms of EDP.

Abstract

There are many solar power and wind stations installed in the power system for environmental and economic reasons. In fact, wind energy is inexpensive and the safetest among all sources of renewable energy, it has been recognized that variable speed wind turbine based on the doubly fed induction generator. It is the most effective with less cost and high power yield. This paper has chosen doubly fed induction generator for a comprehensive study of modelling, performance and analysing. DFIG wind turbine has to operate below and above synchronous speed which requires smooth transition mode change for reliable operation to be controlled to provide stability for the power system. Hence its performance depends on the generator itself and the converter operation and control system. This paper presents completed mathematical model of DFIG with its AC/DC/AC converter driven by DC machine. The rotor is considered fed by a voltage source converter whereas the stator is connected to the grid directly. The capacity of the wind power generation is 1.5MW. The voltage rating and frequency for this system are 575V, 50Hz .This paper show detailed model of DFIG.

Abstract

There are multiple reasons for the evolution as well as the presence of noise over transmitted GSM signal. In spite of various approaches towards noise cancellation techniques, there are less applicable techniques for controlling noise in acoustic GSM signal. Therefore, the proposed manuscript presents an integrated modelling which performs modelling of noise identification that could significantly assist in successful noise cancellation. The proposed system uses three different approach viz. i) stochastic based approach for noise modelling, ii) analytical-based approach where allocated power acts as one of the prominent factors of noise, and iii) wavelet-based approach for effective decomposition of GSM signal for assisting better noise cancellation technique followed by better retention of signal quality. Simulated in MATLAB, the study outcome shows that it offers a cost-effective implementation, A Practical Approach for Noise identification, and Effective Noise Cancellation with Signal quality retention. The proposed system offers approximately 24% of enhancement in noise reduction as compared to any existing digital filters with 1.6 seconds faster in processing speed.

Abstract

Cloud computing has emerged to influence multimedia content providers like Disney to render their multimedia services. When content providers use the public cloud, there are chances to have pirated copies further leading to a loss in revenues. At the same time, technological advancements regarding content recording and hosting made it easy to duplicate genuine multimedia objects. This problem has increased with increased usage of a cloud platform for rendering multimedia content to users across the globe. Therefore it is essential to have mechanisms to detect video copy, discover copyright infringement of multimedia content and protect the interests of genuine content providers. It is a challenging and computationally expensive problem to be addressed considering the exponential growth of multimedia content over the internet. In this paper, we surveyed multimedia-content protection mechanisms which throw light on different kinds of multimedia, multimedia content modification methods, and techniques to protect intellectual property from abuse and copyright infringement. It also focuses on challenges involved in protecting multimedia content and the research gaps in the area of cloud-based multimedia content protection.

Abstract

Wireless Mesh Networks (WMN) consists of wireless stations that are connected with each other in a semi-static configuration. Depending on the configuration of a WMN, different paths between nodes offer different levels of efficiency. One areas of research with regard to WMN is cost minimization. A Modified Binary Particle Swarm Optimization (MBPSO) approach was used to optimize cost. However, minimized cost does not guarantee network performance. This paper thus, modified the minimization function to take into consideration the distance between the different nodes so as to enable better performance while maintaining cost balance. The results were positive with the PDR showing an approximate increase of 17.83% whereas the E2E delay saw an approximate decrease of 8.33%.

Abstract

The importance of quality of the measured values is very dependent on the device that measures these values: the size of the sample, the time of measurement, periods of measurement, the mobility and the robustness of the device, etc. Contemporary devices intended for the measurement of physical quantities that are on the market vary in price, as well as and the quality of the measured values. The rule "the more expensive the better" is not necessarily always a rule that is valid because it all depends on the characteristics and capabilities of the device, and the customer’s needs. In this paper, a device based on "Open Source" components of hardware and software will be presented. Device was used to measure voltages and currents on low voltage networks, on which a virtually unlimited number of sensors can be added, and the device is assembled of components available on electronic components Internet.
