One of the most routing problems in Mobile Ad-hoc Network is the node’s selfishness. Nodes are generally selfish and try to maximize their own benefit; hence these nodes refuse to forward packet on behalf of others to preserve their limited energy resources. This selfishness may lead to a low efficiency of routing. Therefore, it is important to study mechanisms which can be used encourage cooperation among nodes, to maintain the network efficiency. In this paper, we propose a cooperative game theoretic model to support more energy-aware and available bandwidth routing in MANET. We introduce a novel framework from coalitional-formation game theory, called hedonic coalition-formation game. We integrate this model to OLSR protocol that is an optimization over the classical link state protocol for the MANETs. Within each coalition, a coalition coordinator acts as a special MPR node to improve the energy efficient and the packet success rate of the transmission. Simulation results show how the proposed algorithm improve the performance in terms of the percentage of selected MPR nodes in the network, the percentage of alive nodes by time, and the Packet Delivery Ratio. Which prove that our proposed model leads, to better results compared to the classical OLSR.

There has been significant development in the area of neural network based power system protection in the previous decade. Neural network technology has been applied for various protective relaying functions including distance protection. The aim of this Paper is to develop a software module acting as a protective relay using neural network techniques. The Artificial Neural Network (ANN) software developed module employs the back-propagation method to recognize the waveform patterns of impedance in a transmission line. The input waveforms are generated using PSCAD. The generated waveforms then are used as training and testing data for the ANN software. The ANN software is simulated using the Neural Network Toolbox. The design has been tested for different fault conditions including different fault resistances and fault inception angles. The test results show that the relay is able to detect faults in lesser time as compared to conventional relay algorithms.DOI:http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/ijece.v3i1.1938

Traffic lights play such important role in traffic management to control the traffic on the road. Situation at traffic light area is getting worse especially in the event of emergency cases. During traffic congestion, it is difficult for emergency vehicle to cross the road which involves many junctions. This situation leads to unsafe conditions which may cause accident. An Automatic Traffic Light Controller for Emergency Vehicle is designed and developed to help emergency vehicle crossing the road at traffic light junction during emergency situation. This project used Peripheral Interface Controller (PIC) to program a priority-based traffic light controller for emergency vehicle. During emergency cases, emergency vehicle like ambulance can trigger the traffic light signal to change from red to green in order to make clearance for its path automatically. Using Radio Frequency (RF) the traffic light operation will turn back to normal when the ambulance finishes crossing the road. Result showed the design is capable to response within the range of 55 meters. This project was successfully designed, implemented and tested.

The critcal factor in successfully in system development is the requirement phase. The requirement should meets with its purpose. In order to achieve it, the methodology for requrement analysis is needed. Nowdays, the complexity of e-governemnt applications is grown significantly in the government environment. E-government applications should be developed based on regulations in order to achieve the goal model of government entitties. However, the goal model could not used directly to make business process model. In order to solve this problem, this paper presents and proposed a Methodology to extract goal model into business process model that called GBPM Methodology. It can support the requirement analysis phase, especially in enterprise government tourism system. This methodology consists of two methods, there are (1) Method for convert goal model to business use case diagram, (2) Method for convert business use case diagram to activity diagram. We do the experiment in e-government applications domain. This methodology suitable with enterprise government tourism system development.

Identifying which biodiversity species are more dominant than others in any area is a very challenging task. This is because of the abundant of biodiversity species that may become the majority species in any particular region. This situation create a large dataset with a complex variables to be analysed. Moreover, the responds of organisms and environmental factors are occurred in a non-linear correlation. The effort to do so is really important in order to conserve the biodiversity of nature. To understand the complex relationships that exist between species distribution and their habitat, we analysed the interactions among bird diversity, spatial distribution and land use types at Kenyir landscape in Terengganu, Malaysia by using artificial neural network (ANN) method of self-organizing map (SOM) analysis. SOM performs an unsupervised and non-linear analysis on a complex and large dataset. It is capable to handle the non-linear correlation between organism and environmental factors because SOM identifies clusters and relationships between variables without the fixed assumptions of linearity or normality. The result suggested that SOM analysis was suited for understanding the relationships between bird species assemblages and habitat characteristics.

Security issue is getting important day by day. At present, there are a variety of methodologies to provide protection for data confidentiality. MANETs have lots of security challenges than traditional networks like infrastructureless and self-organizing requirements. As the MANETs are dynamic networks that’s make every transmission in such networks vulnerable to many attacks and improving security level becomes a main issue. This paper introduces a user selective encryption method by operating Data Encryption Standard (DES), Triple DES (3DES), Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) and the Diffie-Hellman Key Exchange (DHKE) protocol for key management in order to improve MANET security. Through the Network Simulator-2 (NS-2), the we investigate the performance of the proposed method in terms of data transfer time and network throughput for different data sizes and different sender-to-receiver number of hops. The results show the superiority of AES over other encryption algorithms. Furthermore, the effectiveness of our proposed method is verified through comparing our results with those obtained from previous studies.

Cloud computing still has no standard definition, yet it is concerned with Internet or network on-demand delivery of resources and services. It has gained much popularity in last few years due to rapid growth in technology and the Internet. Many issues yet to be tackled within cloud computing technical challenges, such as Virtual Machine migration, server association, fault tolerance, scalability, and availability. The most we are concerned with in this research is balancing servers load; the way of spreading the load between various nodes exists in any distributed systems that help to utilize resource and job response time, enhance scalability, and user satisfaction. Load rebalancing algorithm with dynamic resource allocation is presented to adapt with changing needs of a cloud environment. This research presents a modified elastic adaptive neural network (EANN) with modified adaptive smoothing errors, to build an evolving system to predict Virtual Machine load. To evaluate the proposed balancing method, we conducted a series of simulation studies using cloud simulator and made comparisons with previously suggested approaches in the previous work. The experimental results show that suggested method betters present approaches significantly and all these approaches.

In this paper, we present an optimal image enhancement technique for color cast images by preserving their intensity. There are methods which improves the appearance of the affected images under different cast like red, green, blue etc but up to some extent. The proposed color cast method is corrected by using transformation function based on gamma values. These optimal values of gamma are obtained through particle swarm optimization (PSO). This technique preserves the image intensity and maintains the originality of color by satisfying the modified gray world assumptions. For the performance analysis, the image distance metric criteria of CIELAB color space is used. The effectiveness of the proposed approach is illustrated by testing the proposed method on color cast images. It has been found that distance between the reference image and the corrected proposed image is negligible. The calculated value of image distance depicts that the enhanced image results of the proposed algorithm are closer to the reference images in comparison with other existing methods.

Najran city faces the flood situation every year due to intensive rain and climatic disturbances. Flooding also causes loss of money, along with loss of life and property and the destruction of agriculture and livestock. Thus, this project proposes a conceptual framework with three main phases: monitoring the water level inside the dam and level in water stream before and after the dam, controlling the opening and closing of the dam gate and measuring the water pressure at the dam barrier. In the case of high water level dam is monitored through water sensors placed at the top of the dam and then these sensors give a reference to the stepper motor and the flow of the stepper motor is controlled by the dam gate. The experimental results shows that the proposed system has the capability to reliably tackle the flood water. It can accurately measure the water level and control the gate of dam as soon as the level of the water reaches to danger level and water pressure at the barrier is measured by the sensor. The developed real-time monitoring system in Najran dam will help authorities to take preventive actions to deal with flood disaster.

This paper presents a new and efficient Adaptive Neural Fuzzy Inference Systems approach for satellite’s attitude control systems (ACSs) fault diagnosis. The proposed approach formulates the fault modelling problem of system component into an on-line parameters estimation The learning ability of the adaptive neural fuzzy inference system allow as to decoupling the effect of each fault from the estimation of the others. Our solution provides a method to detect, isolate, and estimate various faults in system components, using Adaptive Fuzzy Inference Systems Parameter Estimators (ANFISPEs) that are designed and based on parameterizations related to each class of fault. Each ANFISPE estimates the corresponding unknown Fault Parameter (FP) that is further used for fault detection, isolation and identification purposes. Simulation results reveal the effectiveness of the developed FDI scheme of an ACSs actuators of a 3-axis stabilized satellite.DOI:http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/ijece.v2i2.221
