Wireless Mesh Networks can be regarded as a type of communication technology in mesh topology in which wireless nodes interconnect with one another. Wireless Mesh Networks depending on the semi-static configuration in different paths among nodes such as PDR, E2E delay and throughput. This study summarized different types of previous heuristic algorithms in order to adapt with proper algorithm that could solve the issue. Therefore, the main objective of this study is to determine the proper methods, approaches or algorithms that should be adapted to improve the throughput. A Modified Binary Particle Swarm Optimization (MBPSO) approach was adapted to improvements the throughput. Finally, the finding shows that throughput increased by 5.79% from the previous study.

In each and every field of science and technology Information science plays an important role. Sometimes information science is facing different types of problems to handle the data and information. Data Uncertainty is one of the challenging difficulties to handle. In past, there are several theories like fuzzy set, Rough set, Probability etc.to dealing with uncertainty. Soft set theory is the youngest theory to deal with uncertainty. In this paper we discussed how to find reducts. This paper focuses on how we can transform a sample data set to binary valued information system. We are also going to reduce the dimension of data set by using the binary valued information that results a better decision.

Transporting industry is having an important influence on the nations’ progress. The states that having long shoreline are taking advantage of their locations in using sea transportations which is more economical than other types of transportations. One of the most economical marine transport is the diesel fueling engines. This paper is to optimize the PID controller to control the speed of the engine overcoming the navigation environmental changes such as waves, winds and other effective external factors as well as the vessel internal changes such as the shipment load, equipment’s conditions …etc. PID is optimized through the optimum selection of its parameters (KP, KI and KD). A Simulink/MatLab model of the system is designed for this purpose. The Hybrid IWOPSO (HIWOPSO) algorithm is used for finding the optimum values of the PID parameters. The engine step response with these parameters is compared to the responses with those obtained by the IWO and PSO besides the Fuzzy Logic Control (FLC).

This research proposes a model of face recognition using the method of joining two face images from left and right lens from a stereo vision camera namely half-join method. Half-join method is used in face image normalization processing. The proposed half-join method is a face images joining model, which is called asymmetrical half-join. In asymmetrical half-join method, a RoI (region of interest) of face image from left and right lenses are provided based on axis center of each eye in eye detection. The cropping of face image from asymmetrical half-join model has different width depends on eyes coordinate location. The proposed system shows that the asymmetrical half-join method can produce a better of face recognition rate. The experimental results show that the asymmetrical half-join method has a better recognition rate and computation time than single vision method and symmetrical half-join method.

Internet allows individuals to share the information. The shared information is like text, image, audio and video files. This information sharing results in some problems such as copyright violation, unauthorized use of documents. Such problems can be solved by using a technique called as digital watermarking. This paper presents different aspects of watermarking and how it is useful for intellectual property protection on internet.DOI:http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/ijece.v3i1.1745

The wind energy plays an important role in power system because of its renewable, clean and free energy. However, the penetration of wind power (WP) into the power grid system (PGS) requires an efficient energy storage systems (ESS). compressed air energy storage (CAES) system is one of the most ESS technologies which can alleviate the intermittent nature of the renewable energy sources (RES). Nyala city power plant in Sudan has been chosen as a case study because the power supply by the existing power plant is expensive due to high costs for fuel transport and the reliability of power supply is low due to uncertain fuel provision. This paper presents a formulation of security-constrained unit commitment (SCUC) of diesel power plant (DPP) with the integration of CAES and PW. The optimization problem is modeled and coded in MATLAB which solved with solver GORUBI 8.0. The results show that the proposed model is suitable for integration of renewable energy sources (RES) into PGS with ESS and helpful in power system operation management.

The article dues to the arrangement of the reactive power sources in the power grid to reduce the active power losses in transmission lines and minimize cable cross-sections of the lines. The optimal arrangement is considered from two points of view. In the first case, it is possible to minimize the active power losses only. In the second case, it is possible to change the cross-sections of the supply lines to minimize both the active power losses and the volume of the cable lines. The sum of the financial cost of the active power losses, the capital investment to install the deep reactive power compensation, and cost of the cable volume is introduced as the single optimization criterion. To reduce the losses, the deep compensation of reactive power sources in nodes of the grid are proposed. This optimization problem was solved by the Genetic algorithm and the Particle Swarm optimization algorithm. It was found out that the deep compensation allows minimizing active power losses the cable cross-section. The cost-effectiveness of the suggested method is shown. It was found out that optimal allocation of the reactive power sources allows increasing from 9% to 20% the financial expenses for the enterprise considered.

Spam mail has become a rising phenomenon in a world that has recently witnessed high growth in the volume of emails. This indicates the need to develop an effective spam filter. At the present time, Classification algorithms for text mining are used for the classification of emails. This paper provides a description and evaluation of the effectiveness of three popular classifiers using optimization feature selections, such as Genetic algorithm, Harmony search, practical swarm optimization, and simulating annealing. The research focuses on a comparison of the effect of classifiers using K-nearest Neighbor (KNN), Naïve Bayesian (NB), and Support Vector Machine (SVM) on spam classifiers (without using feature selection) also enhances the reliability of feature selection by proposing optimization feature selection to reduce number of features that are not important.

Compressive sensing is one of teh cost effective solution towards performing compression of heavier form of signals. We reviewed the existing research contribution towards compressive sensing to find that existing system doesnt offer any form of optimization for which reason the signal are superiorly compressed but at the cost of enough resources. Therefore, we introduce a framework that optimizes the performance of the compressive sensing by introducing 4 sequential algorithms for performing Random Sampling, Lossless Compression for region-of-interest, Compressive Sensing using transform-based scheme, and optimization. The contribution of proposed paper is a good balance between computational efficiency and quality of reconstructed medical image when transmitted over network with low channel capacity. The study outcome shows that proposed system offers maximum signal quality and lower algorithm processing time in contrast to existing compression techniuqes on medical images.

In this paper, the new automatic tool that is based on the firefly algorithm whose purpose is optimization of pole location in the control of state feedback has been presented. The aim is satisfying specifications of performance like settling and rise time, steady state as well as overshoot error. Utilization of Firefly algorithm has demonstrated the benefits of controllers based on this kind of time domain over controllers based on the frequency domain like Proportional-Integral Derivative (PID). The presented method is more particular for the multi-input multi-output (MIMO) systems that have substantial state numbers. The simulation results indicated that the proposed method had superior performance in providing solution to the problems that involved stabilization of helicopter under the Rationalized Model of helicopter/ Moreover, it demonstrates the Firefly algorithm effectiveness with regards to, the state observer design and feedback controller and auto-tuning.
