Abstract

The substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) structure is the candidate for many application in microwave, terahertz and millimeter wave application. It because of SIW structure can integrate with any component in one substrate than others structure. A kind components using SIW structure is a filter component, especialy bandpass filter. This research recommended SIW bandpass filter using rectangular open loop resonator for giving more selectivity of filter. It can be implemented for short range device (SRD) application in frequency region 2.4 - 2.483 GHz. Two types of SIW bandpass filter are proposed. First, SIW bandpass filter is proposed using six rectangular open loop resonators while the second SIW bandpass filter used eight rectangular open loop resonators. The simulation results for two kinds of the recommended rectangular open loop resonators have insertion loss (S21 parameter) below 2 dB and return loss (S11 parameter) more than 10 dB. Fabrication of the recommended two kind filters was validated by Vector Network Analyzer. The measurement results for six rectangular open loop resonators have 1.32 dB for S21 parameter at 2.29 GHz while the S11 parameter more than 18 dB at 2.26 GHz – 2.32 GHz. While the measurement results has good agreement for eight rectangular open loop resonators. Its have S21 below 2.2 dB at 2.41 – 2.47 GHz and S11 16.27 dB at 2.38 GHz and 11.5 dB at 2.47 GHz.

Abstract

The speech signal is described as many acoustic properties that may contribute differently to spoken word recognition. Vowel characterization is an important process of studying the acoustic characteristics or behaviors of speech within different contexts. This current study focuses on the modulators characteristics of three Arabic vowels, we proposed a new approach to characterize the three Arabic vowels /a/, /i/ and /u/. The proposed method is based on the energy contained in the speech modulators. The coherent subband demodulation method related to the spectral center of gravity (COG) was used to calculate the energy of the speech modulators. The obtained results showed that the modulators energy help characterize the Arabic vowels /a/, /i/ and /u/ with an interesting recognition rate ranging from 86% to 100%.

Abstract

Since it is very difficult to replace or recharge the batteries of the sensor nodes in the wireless sensor network (WSN), efficient use of the batteries of the sensor nodes is a very important issue. This has a deep relationship with the lifetime of the network. If the node's energy is exhausted, the node is no longer available. If a certain number of nodes (50% or 80%) in a network consumes energy completely, the whole network will not work. Therefore, various protocols have been proposed to maintain the network for a long time by minimizing energy consumption. In recent years, a protocol using a K-means clustering algorithm, one of machine learning techniques, has been proposed. A KCED protocol is proposed in consideration of residual energy of a node, a cluster center, and a distance to a base station in order to improve a problem of a protocol using K-average gung zipper algorithm such as cluster center consideration.

Abstract

Nowadays, hemoglobin monitoring is essential during surgeries, blood donations, and dialysis. Which are normally done using invasive methods. To monitor hemoglobin, a non-invasive hemoglobin meter was developed with five fixed light-emitting diode (LED) wavelengths at 670 nm, 770 nm, 810 nm, 850 nm, 950 nm and controlled using an Arduino Uno embedded development board. A photodetector with an on-chip trans-impedance amplifier was utilized to acquire the transmitted signal through the finger using the photoplethysmography (PPG) principle. Before the standardization of LED power, we had tested the designed system on fifteen subjects for the five wavelengths and estimated the hemoglobin with an accuracy of 96.51% and root mean square error (RMSE) of 0.57 gm/dL. To further improve the accuracy, the LED power was standardized and the PPG signal was reacquired on the same subjects. With this, the accuracy improved to 98.29% and also reduced the RMSE to 0.36 gm/dL. The designed system with LED power standardization showed a good agreement with pathology results with the coefficient of determination R2=0.981. Also, Bland–Altman analysis was used to evaluate the designed system and it showed good agreement between the two measurements.

Abstract

Electrocardiogram (ECG) is considered as the main signal that can be used to diagnose different kinds of diseases related to human heart. During the recording process, it is usually contaminated with different kinds of noise which includes power-line interference, baseline wandering and muscle contraction. In order to clean the ECG signal, several noise removal techniques have been used such as adaptive filters, empirical mode decomposition, Hilbert-Huang transform, wavelet-based algorithm, discrete wavelet transforms, modulus maxima of wavelet transform, patch based method, and many more. Unfortunately, all the presented methods cannot be used for online processing since it takes long time to clean the ECG signal. The current research presents a unique method for ECG denoising using a novel approach of adaptive filters. The suggested method was tested by using a simulated signal using MATLAB software under different scenarios. Instead of using a reference signal for ECG signal denoising, the presented model uses a unite delay and the primary ECG signal itself. Least mean square (LMS), normalized least mean square (NLMS), and Leaky LMS were used as adaptation algorithms in this paper.

Abstract

Smart farm refers to a farm that can remotely and automatically maintain proper growth and management of crops and livestock by integrating technology with agriculture. Currently, smart farms are concentrated in the field of smart horticulture, and although spreading research is being conducted in limited spaces. In addition, it is difficult to obtain a sufficient amount of data to be used for learning, and there is a problem that data imbalance occurs because it is difficult to obtain a similar amount for each class. In this paper, we propose a method to amplify a small amount of data and to solve the problems of imbalance data by using a feature that can learn to mimic the data of a generative adversarial network. The proposed method can create dataset of various crops and also show high hit rate. Dataset generated from crops would be used to solve problems of data imbalance by learning.

Abstract

Sentiment analysis (SA) is an enduring area for research especially in the field of text analysis. Text pre-processing is an important aspect to perform SA accurately. This paper presents a text processing model for SA, using natural language processing techniques for twitter data. The basic phases for machine learning are text collection, text cleaning, pre-processing, feature extractions in a text and then categorize the data according to the SA techniques. Keeping the focus on twitter data, the data is extracted in domain specific manner. In data cleaning phase, noisy data, missing data, punctuation, tags and emoticons have been considered. For pre-processing, tokenization is performed which is followed by stop word removal (SWR). The proposed article provides an insight of the techniques, that are used for text pre-processing, the impact of their presence on the dataset. The accuracy of classification techniques has been improved after applying text pre-processing and dimensionality has been reduced. The proposed corpus can be utilized in the area of market analysis, customer behaviour, polling analysis, and brand monitoring. The text pre-processing process can serve as the baseline to apply predictive analysis, machine learning and deep learning algorithms which can be extended according to problem definition.

Abstract

Multilayer perceptron neural network is one of the widely used method for load forecasting. There are hyperparameters which can be used to determine the network structure and used to train the multilayer perceptron neural network model. This paper aims to propose a framework for grid search model based on the walk-forward validation methodology. The training process will specify the optimal models which satisfy requirement for minimum of accuracy scores of root mean square error, mean absolute percentage error and mean absolute error. The testing process will evaluate the optimal models along with the other ones. The results indicated that the optimal models have accuracy scores near the minimum values. The US airline passenger and Ho Chi Minh city load demand data were used to verify the accuracy and reliability of the grid search framework.

Abstract

In this article, different forms of optical orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) were observed which were suitable for optical camera communication (OCC) systems. This research aims to establish the bit error rate (BER) versus signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of the OCC system. This research will focus on OCC systems and the design that produces the noise of the clipping but will gain SNR as a whole if an optimum clipping factor is chosen. The BER versus SNR analysis was investigated for the different clipping factors 0.7, 1.4, and 2.6. The BER performance of the asymmetrically clipped optical OFDM (ACO-OFDM) was also compared with the direct current optical OFDM (DCO-OFDM) to show the suitable effectiveness of the proposed approach. ACO-OFDM was considered to be better due to lower bit loading, but DCO-OFDM was efficient for higher SNR values. This was because the DC bias used was inefficient in terms of optical capacity, while ACO-OFDM used only half of the subcarriers to transmit the information. Moreover, ACO-OFDM two-dimensional half-subcarriers of mapping rule would introduce the clipping noise to its unused 2D subcarriers, although further data can be provided by the 2D DCO-OFDM mapping rule.
