Abstract

Renewable energy had been monopolized the research area in these past decade up till nowadays, due to its reliability and future in global production of electrical and thermal energy. Narrowing down the scope to the photovoltaic thermal (PVT) system, lots of improvements had been implied both theoretically and experimentally. One of the most attractive applications of PVT water or air-based collectors is building integrated photovoltaic thermal (BIPVT) system, which has undergone rapid developments in recent years. This review paper comprises the research findings on the improvements that had been integrated by PVT systems as well as well as personal and cited remarks on advancements on cooling techniques on PVT system.

Abstract

One of the natural resources in Indonesia is a lot of plants which can be used in healing diseases. Thosekinds of plants can be used in “Jamu”. Jamu is a name given to traditional medicine in Indonesia. Usually Jamu is composed from several plants as ingredients. Particularly, some parts of the plant like the leaves, roots, or branches have different purpose in Jamu. Nowadays the knowledge about Jamu can be known by building Ontology. Ontology can be built and developed to enrich the content. Knowledge in Ontology is built by several rules using Semantic Web Rule Language (SWRL).Knowledge gained from SWRL is easily searchable so that users can double check the results obtained.

Abstract

Electric voltage of about 220 volts is required to supply the home appliance in Indonesia, such as for lighting lamps. When there is no 220 volts power supply, while the available voltage source is equal to the battery voltage of about 1.5 to 12 volts, it requires the voltage converter to convert a low voltage 220 volts Become. By using a transformer, it is easy to rise the AC voltage. Meanwhile for DC voltage, the transformer can not be used to raise it, Because The changing magnetic field do not occur then the output of transformer voltage is not higher but the transformer Become hot Because of DC voltage. To raise the DC voltage, DC to DC converter is needed, such as Boost Converter. Boost Converter works based on the changing current that flows through an inductor. This current change will Affect the inductor voltage change. The output voltage of boost converter has a unique comparison to the input voltage duty cycle. By adjusting the amount of the voltage duty cycle, the output voltage will be easy to control. In this paper, we presented a prototype of 12 to 220 V DC-DC boost converter, using fuzzy-PI intervention that being embedded on ATmega168 AVR microcontroller. The controller can maintain a fixed output voltage by regulating the input duty cycle. From the test results, is obtained an efficiency of 75% at 15 watts whereas percentage of error of about less than 3%.DOI:http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/ijece.v3i2.2262

Abstract

Opinion Mining also known as Sentiment Analysis, is a technique or procedure which uses Natural Language processing (NLP) to classify the outcome from text. There are various NLP tools available which are used for processing text data. Multiple research have been done in opinion mining for online blogs, Twitter, Facebook etc. This paper proposes a new opinion mining technique using Support Vector Machine (SVM) and NLP tools on newspaper headlines. Relative words are generated using Stanford CoreNLP, which is passed to SVM using count vectorizer. On comparing three models using confusion matrix, results indicate that Tf-idf and Linear SVM provides better accuracy for smaller dataset. While for larger dataset, SGD and linear SVM model outperform other models.

Abstract

Wheelchair is a medical device that can help patients, especially for persons with physical disabilities. In this research has designed a wheelchair that can be controlled using brain wave. Mind wave device is used as a sensor to capture brain waves. Fuzzy method is used to process data from mind wave. In the design was used a modified wheelchair (original wheelchair modified with addition dc motor that can be control using microcontroller ). After processing data from mindwave using fuzzy method, then microcontroller ordered dc motor to rotate. The dc motor connected to gear of wheelchair using chain. So when the dc motor rotated the wheelchair rotated as well.  Controlling of DC motor used PID control method. Input encoder was used as feedback for PID control at each wheel. From the experimental results concentration level data of the human brain waves can be used to adjust the rate of speed of the wheelchair. The level accuracy of respons Fuzzy method ton system obtained by devide total true respons data with total tested data and the result is 85.71 %.  Wheelchairs can run at a maximum speed of 31.5 cm/s when the battery voltage is more than 24.05V. Moreover, the maximum load of wheelchair is 110 kg.

Abstract

Cognitive radio networks (CRNs) play an important role in wireless communications which have the ability to significantly utilize the spectrum that not in used and reduce the current spectrum scarcity. CR allows unlicensed users (secondary users) to occupy the licensed spectrums without causing interference with licensed users (primary users). This can be achieved smoothly through four main CR procedures: spectrum sensing, spectrum decision, spectrum sharing, and spectrum  mobility. In this paper, we propose an intelligent spectrum handoff (SH) scheme based on multiple attributes decision making. The handoff decision depends on three considered parameters: received power, traffic load and arrival rate of the primary users. The simulation results show the proposed scheme outperformed the conventional scheme by reducing the probability of SH which leads to improve system performance.

Abstract

The issue to alleviate congestion in the power system framework has emerged as an alluring field for the power system researchers. The research conducted in this article proposes a cuckoo search algorithm based congestion alleviation strategy with the incorporation of wind farm. The bus sensitivity factor data are computed and utilized to sort out the sutiable position for the installation of the wind farm. The generators contributing in the real power rescheduleing process are selected as per the generator sensitivity values. The cuckoo search algorithm is implemented to minimize the congestion cost with the embodiment of the wind farm. The proposed method is tested on 39 bus New England framework and the results obtained with the cuckoo search based congestion management approach outperforms the results opted with other heuristic optimization techniques in the past research literatures.

Abstract

Cloud computing is the emerging domain in academia and IT Industry. It is a business framework for delivering the services and computing power on-demand basis. Cloud users have to pay the service providers based on their usage. For enterprises, cloud computing is the worthy of consideration and they try to build business systems with lower costs, higher profits and quality-of-service. Considering cost optmization, service provider may initially try to use less number of CPU cores and data centers. For that reason, this paper deals with CloudSim simulation tool which has been utilized for evaluating the number of CPU cores and execution time. Minimization of waiting time is also a considerable issue. When a large number of jobs are requested, they have to wait for getting allocated to the servers which in turn may increase the queue length and also waiting time. This paper also deals with queuing model with multi-server and finite capacity to reduce the waiting time and queue length.

Abstract

Modern power systems demand the active control of power flow and for this purpose Power flow controlling devices (PFCDs) are required. Distributed FACTS Controller (DPFC) is a part of FACTS family. DPFC offers equal control ability same as UPFC, comprising the adjustment of the internal angle of the machine and bus voltage includes line impedance. In addition to UPFC a new device evolved known as DPFC in which common DC link is eliminated that enables the exclusive working between the two converters which are shunt and the series. The Distributed-FACTS (D- FACTS) idea is adopt in the series converter scheme. The replacement of the high rating three phase series converter  with the multiple low rating single phase converters results in cost reduction and increases reliability greatly. The useful power transfer between the two converters which are shunt and series through common dc link in UPFC where as in DPFC in this the required power is transferred in the transmission line with three times of natural fundamental frequency. Where as in the new device no need of large voltage separation between the line and PFC Device is no requirement of high voltage isolation between because D-FACTS converters which are 1-ᴓ floating device with respect to the ground. Accordingly, In this paper we bring out the DPFC performance differences with different control techniques which are PI and Artificial Neural Network Controllers and bring with conclusion that ANN is a better control strategy compared to PI.
