Spatial correlation is a critical impairment for practical Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) wireless communication systems. To overcome from this issue, one of the solutions is receive antenna selection. Receive antenna selection is a low-cost, low-complexity and no requirement of feedback bit alternative option to capture many of the advantages of MIMO systems. In this paper, symbol error rate (SER) versus signal to noise ratio (SNR) performance comparasion of proposed receive antenna selection scheme for full rate non-orthogonal Space Time Block Code (STBC) is obtained using simulations in MIMO systems under spatially correlated channel at transmit and receive antenna compare with several existing receive antenna selection schemes. The performance of proposed receive antenna selection scheme is same as conventional scheme and beat all other existing schemes.

The rhythm game is an action simulation game adapted to the presented music. While it is expected to have an educational effect as a functional game, the relationship between the operability and rhythm education under the mobile platform is still questionable. In Korea, it seems that mobile rhythm game is a minority maniac genre that are played mostly among teenagers and early twenties. In this paper, we select three mobile rhythm games that are most played by Korean gamers in analysis. First, we analyze the user interface layout, note control, evaluation style and level of difficulty for three games – Deeno, Cytus, and Lanota. Then, we take a user survey in order to evaluate the playability of those games. All three games obtain high scores but there exust several statistically significant differences among games in analysis.

The classification is a one of the most indispensable domains in the data mining and machine learning. The classification process has a good reputation in the area of diseases diagnosis by computer systems where the progress in smart technologies of computer can be invested in diagnosing various diseases based on data of real patients documented in databases. The paper introduced a methodology for diagnosing a set of diseases including two types of cancer (breast cancer and lung), two datasets for diabetes and heart attack. Back Propagation Neural Network plays the role of classifier. The performance of neural net is enhanced by using the genetic algorithm which provides the classifier with the optimal features to raise the classification rate to the highest possible. The system showed high efficiency in dealing with databases differs from each other in size, number of features and nature of the data and this is what the results illustrated, where the ratio of the classification reached to 100% in most datasets).

An optimized empirical modelling for a 0.25µm gate length of highly strained channel of an InP-based pseudomorphic high electron mobility transistor (pHEMT) using InGaAs–InAlAs material systems is presented. An accurate procedure for extraction is described and tested using the pHEMT measured dataset of I-V characteristics and related multi-bias s-parameters over 20GHz frequency range. The extraction of linear and nonlinear parameters from the small signal and large signal pHEMT equivalent model are performed in ADS. The optimized DC and S-parameter model for the pHEMT device provides a basis for active device selection in the MMIC low noise amplifier circuit designs.

Wireless local area network (WLAN) is the core of the classic wireless communications systems and owns the infrastructure which wide spreads in many regions in the world. IEEE 802.11n is an attractive standard of WLAN and offers a data capacity of the cell. This paper estimates the maximum limits of the IEEE 802.11n standard cell as a term of number of users which are successfully served by the cell in case of video conference application. The results shown that, the cell of 802.11n could serve about 9 users under the service of video conference in case of 20MHz channel bandwidth before congestion occurs while the 40MHz channel could support 18 users.

Wireless sensor network is a new generation of networks in which the main aim is to collect data from the surrounding environment of network sensors. The major differences of wireless sensor networks with other networks are limited energy resources and relatively low processing capabilities. Therefore, managing power and reducing energy consumption are of great importance in these networks. In this paper, there was presented a mechanism for Wireless sensor network routing which can be more effective regarding the criteria of route length, end–to–end delay and network node energy for the quality of mechanism service. The proposed method used ant colony–based routing algorithm and local enquiry to find optimal routes. Also, a fuzzy inference system was used to determine the route quality which showed better performance compared with equation of route quality. The results of simulating mechanism showed that energy consumption and network efficiency had improved compared with those of previous methods.DOI:http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/ijece.v3i5.3628

We present the linearization of an ultra-wideband low noise amplifier (UWB-LNA) operating from 2GHz to 11GHz through combining two linearization methods. The used linearization techniques are the combination of post-distortion cancellation and derivative-superposition linearization methods. The linearized UWB-LNA shows an improved linearity (IIP3) of +12dBm, a minimum noise figure (NFmin.) of 3.6dB, input and output insertion losses (S11 and S22) below -9dB over the entire working bandwidth, midband gain of 6dB at 5.8GHz, and overall circuit power consumption of 24mW supplied from a 1.5V voltage source. Both UWB-LNA and linearized UWB-LNA designs are verified and simulated with ADS2016.01 software using BSIM3v3 TSMC 180nm CMOS model files. In addition, the linearized UWB-LNA performance is compared with other recent state-of-the-art LNAs.

A switchable filter can be designed and fabricated with the desired range and parameters, materials say quartz substrate for RF MEMS based applications. The mathematical modeling of the resonators using the desired characteristics of the capacitive coupled filters can be implemented with low insertion loss. In order to design this filter, one can employ a PIN diode along with a semi-lumped resonator. This PIN diode has been used so as it performs the function of electronic switching i.e. the activating and deactivating the filter circuit action without any compromise in the overall performance of the circuit. These filters circuit are designed and implemented in a way so that it can accommodate the external quality factor in order to ensure a good impedance match at each band of operation. The most dominant parameters and characteristics of the second order switchable filter realization. In this work, the author has put an effort to discuss the most desired parameters of the various switchable filters. In these filter circuits, CMOS devices has been used to design because of their well accepted features i.e. low power loss and requirement of low input signal for operation in addition to other ones. The performance of the proposed CMOS based switchable filters has been discussed with its simulated results that have been carried out by using pSpice software with 0.18 micron technology. The insertion loss of this circuit is with the acceptable limits i.e. 2.9 dB and a tenability within two desired frequencies.

The family of DC-DC q-ZSCs is extended from two to three classes and four to six members. All the members were analyzed based on efficient duty ratio range (RDeff) and general duty ratio range (RDgen). Findings showed that similar to the traditional buck-boost converter (BBC), each of the topologies is theoretically capable of inverted buck-boost (BB) operation for the RDgen with additional advantages but differed according to class in how the gains are achieved. The new topologies have advantages of BB capability at the RDeff, continuous and operable duty ratio range with unity gain at contrary to existing topologies where undefined or zero gain is produced. Potential applications of each class were discussed with suitable topologies for applications such as fuel cells, photovoltaic, uninterruptible power supply (UPS), hybrid energy storage and load levelling systems identified.

MOOCs is the new wave of remote learning that has revolutionized it since its apparition, offering the possibility to teach a very big group of student, at the same time, in the same course, within all disciplines and without even gathering them in the same geographic location, or at the same time; Allowing the sharing of all type of media and document and providing tools to assessing student performance. To benefit from all this advantages, big universities are investing in MOOCs platforms to valorize their approach, which makes MOOC available in a multitude of languages and variety of disciplines. Elite universities have open their doors to student around the world without requesting tuition or claiming a college degree, however even with the major effort reaching to maximize students visits and hooking visitors to the platform, using recommending systems propose content likely to please learners, the dropout rate still very high and the number of users completing a course remains very low compared to those who have quit. In this paper we propose an architecture aiming to maximize users visits by exploiting users big data and combining it with data available from social networks.
