Abstract

The learning process can be interpreted as a form of system designed to improve students' abilities. In fact, the learning process is still monotonous so that students are not motivated to follow the study, students who are not motivated in participating in learning will not stimulation student creativity and good learning outcomes. The purpose of this study was to measure the differences in learning outcomes and creativity of students who use the PjBL model assisted by the scratch media and students who use the PjBL model with simple media, and analyze students' responses to science learning using the PjBL model assisted by scratch media. This research used descriptive quantitative methods. The research design was posttest-only control group design. It was known that learning outcomes and creativity of the experimental class are better than the control class. The learning outcomes of the experimental class have an average value of 75.66 and the control class have an average value of 68.99. From the observation of creativity, the average creativity of the experimental class is 78.41 and the control class is 73.43. According analysis of students' responses during learning, that students of the experimental class responded well by showing very positive criteria. These results indicate that PjBL assisted by scratch media can develop students' creativity and give to good learning outcomes.

Abstract

Measurement achievement of scientific literacy skills in students is very important to know the extent to which students have literacy science and become an international benchmark for the quality of a country education. The purpose of this study is to describe the achievement of scientific literacy skills of students in full day junior high school Semarang in science subject of solar system material. This research uses mixed method concurrent triangulation. In general, the tests results of science literacy skills achievement of students in junior full day school Semarang in middle category were a percentage score by an average 33.55%, namely science as a body of knowledge by 8.44%, science as a way of investigating by 4.41%, science as a way of thinking by 8.38%, Interaction of science, environment, technology, and society by 12.32%. Based on the results of research and discussion can be concluded that the achievement of scientific literacy skills of students in junior full day junior high school Semarang is middle category and necessary to increase the achievement of science literacy skills in students. System full day school still have not been able to develop the quality of education and prepare students for the challenges of the development of the modern era. Hopefully this research could eventually become the latest reference achievement of science literacy skills of students in the education system full day school and become material evaluate for education so the result could be recommendation about the education system to improve science literacy.

Abstract

This study aims to develop the submicroscopic book and improving of students learning outcomes for remedial programs. A remedial program is one of the lessons used to improve student understanding and learning outcomes. The results of a survey conducted by researchers at 10 SMA/ MA in Cirebon that the implementation of remedial program rarely carried out remedial teaching activities due to time constraints. This research used R & D method with 4-D model which consists of 4 stages, that were define, design, develop, and dessimination. The results of a small scale test that there was an inproving in students learning outcomes after participating in the remedial program, from 17.14% to 58.62%. The results of a large scale test were carried out in two classes with an increase in student learning outcomes from 12.50% to 71.43% and 17.50% to 78.79%. Students gave the positive responses for remedial learning used submicroscopic book. The response of students in the small-scale test was 78.02% (good) and the results of a large-scale test were 80.50% (good) and 81.17% (very good). The teachers also gave a positive response for use of the submicroscopic book and that was 86.67% (very good). The use of this submicroscopic book can be the one of solutions for implementing remedial teaching.

Abstract

The ability to think creatively is one of the 21st century abilities that students must have. Curious Note Program (CNP) learning model helps students to maintain the creativity and scientific ability of students. This research aims to determine the improvement of students' creative thinking skills through student worksheets (LKPD) based on Curious Note Program learning model. This research design uses One Group Pre-Posttest. The instrument data collection uses LKPD based on CNP learning model and a description of the ability to think creatively. The research subjects used were students of class X in Temanggung State MA in the academic year 2017/2018. The results showed that through LKPD based on the CNP learning model it could improve students' creative thinking skills with n-gain of 43% in the medium category. Meanwhile, to increase each indicator based on the acquisition of n-gain of 27% fluency in the low category, 37% flexibility in the medium category, originality 22% in the low category and elaboration 56% in the medium category.

Abstract

Understanding concepts is one of the abilities students must possess to solve problems. PBL can improve understanding of concepts. One strategy that can be used in learning is metacognitive strategies. Metacognitive strategies help students in thinking about solving problems. This study aims to examine the effect of PBL with metacognitive strategies on the concept of understanding. The study used a qualitative method, while the research design with the type of pre-test post-test control group design. Data retrieval uses reasoned multiple choice questions to measure understanding concepts in optical device materials. The results showed that PBL with metacognitive strategies had an effect on improving understanding of physical concepts. The metacognitive strategies used in PBL learning train students for planning, information management, monitoring, improvement and evaluation in solving physical problems. Concept understanding in the control class using PBL increases with low criteria and the experimental class uses PBL with metacognitive strategies increasing with the medium criteria.

Abstract

Physics is an integral part of natural science. Basically physics is the study of natural phenomena in the form of facts, concepts and laws that have been tested by a series of studies. This study aims to describe the implementation of reasoning learning by teachers in public high school students in the city of Palembang. This type of research is descriptive qualitative research. The research was conducted in seven Palembang City State Senior High Schools on Momentum and Impulse material. Subjects in this study consisted of seven teachers and 231 students from seven public high schools in the city of Palembang. Research subjects were determined through purposive sampling technique. The results showed that the implementation of reasoning learning activities was not optimal. Learning the reasoning done by the teacher is limited to reasoning activities which is the final conclusion of the thinking process without observing, asking questions and trying. The final conclusions made by students are only based on the teacher's explanation of the one-way learning process. This can be seen from the percentage of the implementation of reasoning activities on the scientific approach that gets a percentage of 39.04% and is included in the medium category.

Abstract

Material law of conservation of energy and momentum is abstract material. Practical tools are needed in learning to prove the law so that it can foster real learning for students. This research method is an experimental method that aims to find out how to test the energy conservation and momentum law practicum kit. The practicum kit consists of wheeled objects as loads, precision rails as slippery trajectories, and infrared sensor devices to detect the speed of motion of objects. The kits that have been compiled are then validated by experts before use. Kit validation results are valid. In the implementation of the kit testing the independent variables selected are object mass and slope height. The test results obtained that the kit equipped with infrared sensors is quite accurate in explaining the law of conservation of energy which is evidenced by the relative error that occurs is quite small, namely 1%. In testing the law of conservation of momentum obtained the result that the momentum value of the two objects before the collision approaches the momentum value after the collision. The kit testing results become a solution and innovation as a practical tool to help with more tangible learning.

Abstract

The Dieng Plateau is an active volcanic area in Central Java, which belongs to the Banjarnegara Regency and Wonosobo Regency. The Dieng Plateau has an abundance natural potency, such as of plants. This study aims to identify the plant species richness and its benefits by local people. The plants species richness data collected by exploration method. Data collection is done by means of exploration, identification, interview, literature, analyzes, and documentation. The results of the study found there are 29 species of medicinal plants originating from 22 families. The plant that is most widely used as a medicine comes from the family Solanaceae, which is Tamarillo (Solanum betaceum Cav.). The most common species of medicinal plants are found in Parikesit Village. The knowledge of the Dieng Javanese people about the benefits of medicinal plants is mostly influenced by generations (73.2%). The most widely used parts of plant organs are the leaves. The processing technology of plants that usually used is by pulverizing. The medicinal plants mostly found in the Dieng Javanese yard. It proves that the medicinal plants is still used by the Dieng Javanese people as knowledge that can be passed on to the next generation.
