Abstract

This study aimed to determine the impact of attribution retraining group counseling technique on student’s learned helplessness. One-group pretest-posttest design was used in this study involving a total of 5 students as participants. The results of paired t-test showed that the student learned helplessness level can decreased at posttest (39.58%) than at assesment pre test (68.33%; t = 7.14, p < 0.01). Further, this study was focused to discuss the possibility of implementing attribution retraining in overcoming the problem of student’s learned helplessness behavior.

Abstract

The purpose of this studywas to know the effectiveness of group guidance with film media to improve students' empathy and social interaction. Meanwhile, the research design used in this studywas experimental method with one group pretest-posttest design. Moreover, the subjects of the study were 10 students with the criteria of having empathy and social interaction that were classified as low or fair. In addition, the hypothesis testing used by the researchers in this studycame from Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test. The results showed that there was a significant difference of students'empathy between pretest and posttest where empathy at posttest was higher than pretest which meant that the implementation of group guidance with film media could improve students' empathy (Z = -2.803; p < 0.01). Also, there found a significant difference of students' social interaction between pretest and posttest where posttest social interaction was higher than pretest which meant that the implementation of group guidance with film media can improve students' social interaction (Z = -2.807; p < 0.01). In conclusion, this study confirms that group guidance with film media is effective to improve students' empathy and social interaction.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the effectiveness of systematic desensitization and thought-stoppingcounseling groups to reduce students' social anxiety. Randomized Pretest-Postest Comparison Group Design was applied to students as many as 24 students in SMA N 12 Semarang. The instruments used were theSocial Anxiety Scale For Adolescents. Data analysis techniques were used using Paired sample t-test and one-way ANOVA test. The results showed that group counseling techniques were systematic desensitization and thought-stopping effective to reduce students' social anxiety. The findings of this study prove the effectiveness of group counseling with systematic desensitization techniques and thought stopping techniques in students in the city of Semarang Indonesia.

Abstract

This research was designed to examine the relationship between Problem Solving Skills (PSS), Emotional Regulation (ER) and Problematic Internet Use (PIU) among junior high school students. As many as 137 students from SMPN 10 Surabaya in the even semester of academic year 2017/2018 were chosen as participants by using quota sampling method.  Data was captured using Problem Solving Inventory (PSI), Emotion Regulation Questionnaire for Children and Adolescents (ERQ-CA) and Generalized Problematic Internet Use 2 (GPIUS2). Data that has been collected then analyzed using computer program SPSS version 24.00. The statistical results show that there are low but definite negative relationship between PSS and ER on PIU (β = -0.18 and β = -0.21, p < 0.05, respectively). PSS and ER overall explained the 10% variance of PIU.  Based on the results, it can be concluded that the higher level of PIU, the lower level of PSS and ER that students have. Thus further, the current research finding will be discussed later.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of cognitive behavior therapy group counseling with cognitive restructuring and thought stopping techniques to reduce students' consumptive behavior. This experimental study used a pretest posttest group design by involving 14 students of Vocational High School (SMK) Bhakti Nusantara Boja as the members of cognitive restructuring technique group (7 students) and thought stopping technique group (7 students). The results of data analysis using Wilcoxon and Mann-Whitney tests showed that cognitive behavior therapy group counseling with cognitive restructuring and thought stopping techniques was effective in reducing students' consumptive behavior. The discussion of the results of this study was directed to reinforce the effectiveness of cognitive behavior therapy group counseling with cognitive restructuring and thought stopping techniques to reduce students’ consumptive behavior.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of cognitive behavioral therapy group counseling to improve the body image of the students of Kesatrian 2 Junior High School (SMP 2 Kesatrian) Semarang. Meanwhile, the research methods used were repeated measures of experimental design with pretest and multiple posttest design. For more, the sample used were 7 students selected by using purposive sampling technique. The results of this study showed that cognitive behavioral therapy group counselling was effective to improve students’ body image. At last, the findings succeeded in proving the effect of cognitive behavioral therapy group counseling towards the body image of junior high school students.

Abstract

The objective of this study was to improve students’ career choice by using an android medium in the form of career information. To purse such objective, this study used one-group pretest-posttest research design. For more, the instrument used in data collection was career choice scale. This instrument was given to 36 tenth grade students as the research subjects taken from 300 students selected by using purposive random sampling technique. After the data were analyzed, the research findings showed that there was an increase in score as many as 29.92 after using the android application on students’ career choice. At last, this study confirms that an android-based career information application can improve career choice.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the influence of group guidance services with socio-drama and group discussion techniques towards students’ career planning in Eighth Grade level of Public Junior High School (SMP Negeri) 1 Mejobo Kudus. The study used Pre-post Control Group research design. Meanwhile, the subjects of this study were the Eighth Grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Mejobo Kudus which amounted to 24 students selected by purposive sampling. The results of the study showed that before the group guidance given to the students, their average percentage of career planning was 79.125% (low category). Then, after the group guidance with socio-drama technique was given, the percentage increased to 96.44% (high category). On the one hand, initially, the career planning level of students before receiving group discussion technique obtained the percentage of 65.13% (low category). Meanwhile, after they received given group guidance, the percentage increased to 78.73 (high category). At last, the discussion of the findings of this study was focused on the effectiveness of group guidance with socio-drama and group discussion techniques towards students’ career planning in Eighth Grade level of Public Junior High School (SMP Negeri) 1 Mejobo Kudus.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of the implementation of groups counseling services with cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) approach using cinematherapy and self-talk techniques in reducing students' social anxiety. This study used a Repeated Measure Design as the experimental contrivance. The participants used in this study were 14 students in SMK N 2 Semarang. The selection of the subjects is using purposive sampling technique that is based on social anxiety criteria obtained from the results of social anxiety scale scores. Social Anxiety Scale for Adolescents is the instruments used in this study. Data analysis techniques were used is the Sphericity and ANOVA tests. The results of the study showed that the group counseling with cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) approach by using cinematherapy and self-talk techniques were effective in reducing students' social anxiety. The findings of this study prove the effectiveness of group counseling services in the cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) approach using cinematherapy and self-talk techniques for the students in Semarang city, Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to improve understanding of career introduction of elementary students by using multimedia educational game media “Jelajah Karir Bersama Nina”. The experimental research method used the design of one group pre-post test with purposive sampling technique to determine the subject of the study of 5th grade students of elementary school as many as 21 people.The results of the study obtained an understanding of the career recognition of the students of 5th grade Integrated Islamic Elementary School (SDIT) Avicenna, before using the medium of guidance (pre-test) the mean value of 101.57 with SD 8.02, and an increase in the mean posttest 113.76 with SD 5.21. Parametric test results were found (t(20) = 11.412, p< 0.01), there are significant differences so it can be concluded that multimedia educational games “Jelajah Karir Bersama Nina” effective to improve understanding of career introduction to elementary school students. This finding confirms that media are multimedia educational games “Jelajah Karir Bersama Nina” can be applied to improve understanding of career recognition for elementary students.
